AG Floors

Great - we needed a last minute fast total replacement of our hardwood floors before we moved into our home. They had an estimator out the next day and the crew started a day later. The estimate was completely reasonable and better than 2 others we got. We were happy with the work and the care they took with the home. The floors look amazing.

They were very professional and the quality of the work was impeccable. They had great communication as well. I would definitely recommend them to others.

Excellent at every stage. Estimator (Sam Angel) came on schedule. His price was good. His crew came on time on the appointed day and did the work quickly and well. Attention to detail was excellent. Highly recommended.

They did exactly what they said they would do. They did a good job. They were the lowest priced. My floors look nice and we didn't have any issues with them. We never had any problems with them.

Overall, AG Floors did a great job. Both the floors that were refinished and the polished floors look very good. While initially we had some difficulty scheduling an appointment for an estimate that was convenient for our schedule, AG Floors accommodated our schedule and met with us in the evening. Samuel provided an estimate on the spot, and he was available over the following weekend to respond to my questions. We discussed whether we needed to use water or oil-based polyurethane and whether we needed new shoe molding. Samuel recommended that we did not need new molding (which made the overall cost less expensive). I think he was right except in one room where the walls were separated a bit more from the floor due to the age of the house. However, I ultimately don't care too much about that, and Samuel was very willing to do whatever we wanted done (in the event that others would care more). The crew that performed the work was very punctual, respectful, and competent. They made sure to secure the rooms that were being sanded with plenty of plastic so dust did not travel throughout the house. They also did a good job of cleaning the up the dust; there was only dust on the upper window frames when they were through. Our only complaint was that they neglected to tell us to turn the heat on to a certain level to facilitate the stain drying process; the result was a slight delay in finishing the project (delay was just one day). I would use them again and would recommend them to others.

We were planning to move into our new home and were hoping to have the wood floors refinished on the first floor. AG Floors was highly rated on Angie's List, so I contacted them to get an estimate and compare it to other companies I had researched. Monica Reynolds promptly responded to my email and gave an estimate based on the approximate measurements we'd taken ourselves. The price was the lowest of the three companies I had looked into, so I contacted Monica again to set up an appointment for an in-home estimate on Saturday, December 3rd. That Saturday, Juan Prieto arrived early, which we really appreciated, and he quickly measured the rooms, gave us a solid estimated cost and explained our options for stains and finishes. He also answered our questions and gave us some good advice on the type of stain we might choose given some pre-existing dark stains in the wood of our family room. The whole process was done in less than 30 minutes! We were also able to schedule the work to begin the following Tuesday, which was very convenient! While the work was being done, Juan kept in touch to update us on the progress and even sent pictures of sample stains on our sanded floors in order to confirm which one we preferred. All told, the work was finished on that Thursday (one extra day than anticipated because of rain and humidity levels, which prevented the stain from completely drying before applying the oil-based finish) and we checked the floors on that Friday after the finish had dried. We were very happy with the results! The first floor rooms were clean and there was very little dust resulting from the sanding. We were more than satisfied with the services provided by AG Floors and especially for the assistance from Monica and Juan. We would highly recommend this company to anyone interested in refinishing wood floors in their home.

The quality of workmanship and professionalism of everyone associated with this business was wonderful. We did have one problem and I was amazed at the determination of the owner to correct the problem and make sure we were happy. This is indeed an honest business! I thought the process would create such a mess but the old was taken up and the new installed in just one day. I used them many years ago to refinish our 30 year old oak floors and am still very pleased with that job. And, if we have another flooring project, I would not hesitate to use them again.

I called AG Floors for a estimate on repairing parquet flooring in a bedroom rental unit. I had the floors refinished by another company and was not happy with the appearance of damaged areas. Before the floors were refinished the damaged areas were slightly darker than the rest of the floor but were not that noticeable. After the floors were refinished the damaged area appeared as black spots on the light colored floors. The damaged areas looked very promient after the floors were refinished. I called AG for an opinion about repairing the damaged area of the floors. The AG receptionist said that a representative was in DC and she would arrange for him to meet me at the property within the hour. I was impressed with the efforts of the receptionist to arrange for a prompt appointment. I met Sam Angel within the hour and he gave me an estimate for repairing the floor which included replacing the damaged parquet and refinishing the entire bedroom floor. The estimate was reasonable but I decided to wait until I put the apartment up for sale at which time I would have the whole apartment refinished again. I was impressed by the promptness and professionalism of Sam Angel and his company that I would certainly call them for any floor work that I have in the future.

After 20+ years we needed to refinish the hardwood floors in our large living room, two bedrooms and the hall between them. There were many places where the finish was long gone and years of children, dogs and constant traffic had taken a toll. My request for an estimate got a prompt response. Samuel, the owner, came to the house,measured all the areas in question and discussed the finish options. He also noted certain areas that needed repair. We agreed upon a very fair price which broke out the various charges for the finishing, installation and finishing of new shoe oak shoe moldings, and the cost of moving and re-placing our furniture. We scheduled the work and a two-man crew showed up exactly on time They did an excellent job of screening off adjacent areas that were not being refinished. They even screened off all of the heating and returns vents. The crew moved all of our furniture and other items out of the three rooms to be done and did so without any damage whatsoever. They worked almost non-stop and completed the initial sanding and sealing on the first day. It took an additional two days to complete the job, which included repairs we had wanted done. The crew were real craftsmen whose pride in their work was obvious. Throughout the entire job the crew was polite, neat, careful and diligent and were responsive to all of our questions and requests. When the floors were dry, the crew moved all of the furniture back where we wanted it, set up the beds and even helped re-hang artwork and mirrors. There is always some dust after this kind of work but the crew had done such a good job of cleaning up that the remaining dust was minimal. We are absolutely delighted with the finished floors! The color is an exact match to the adjoining rooms we did not have refinished and the floors look virtually new. We recommend A&G without reservation!

AG Floors was a pleasure to work. The employee who came out to do the estimate was very personable and the estimate was lower than several others that I had recieved. They were able to book and complete the work in a timely manner and on schedule and the floors look beautiful.

AG Floors did an excellent job from beginning to end. Sam Angel is professional, knowledgeable, thorough and pleasant. I called 3 different companies for estimates. When I called Sam he was very responsive and came the next day. He measured my home and gave me a complete estimate on the spot. His estimate was the same as one of the other companies, but he seemed much more knowledgeable and professional than the representative of that company. His estimate was $6,000 less than the third company. They began the job within 4 days by delivering the hardwood to my home. They delivered the wood to my house a week before they began installing it. Sam explained that the wood needed to become aclimated to our house. I have a large chandelier in my dining room. Sam came to suppervise the delivery of the wood because, for one thing, he wanted to make certain that they didn't damage my chandelier. I also had 5 large rolls of carpet from the five main rooms on our main floor. Each roll had to be removed in one piece because I was having them cut and bound. The were huge and very heavy. Sam and his crew figured out how to get those rolls of carpet out of our house and into the garage. It was a difficult job and way beyond what was outlined in our contract. But Sam and his crew moved that carpet in a most pleasant and helpful manner. Every aspect of this job was performed in an exceptional manner. Sam and his crew were meticulous in their craftsmanship, pleasant and helpful during every interaction, and created gorgeous floors for our home that we all love. I would recommend Sam and AG Floors wihout reservation and with complete confidence. You could not find more professional or enjoyable people with whom to work, and their final product is, as I said, exceptional.

They did the job and I was very pleased. They were very polite and cooperative.

We had our floor refinished over the course of two days, Oct. 21-22, 2011. AG Floors was well aware that we would be arriving on the morning of Oct. 23 with the moving van to move in our furniture. We were very displeased to arrive at our house that morning, and find it to be a complete mess. There was absolutely no cleanup at all. There was dust on the floors, walls, and ceiling all over the house. The workers carefully sealed off the kitchen and basement, but completely neglected to seal the upper floor. They didn't even close any of the doors on the top floor that was not being refinished, which resulted in sawdust in the television and its components, and sawdust on the clothes that were already hanging in the closet. I expected that they would seal up the top floor as they did everything else, and I am confused as to why it was not done. Thus, we had to move the items into a dusty environment, and have to try to clean up after the fact. There are several instances where newly painted walls were chipped. Lastly, the company indicated that you would call us upon completion on Saturday, October 22nd to approve service, pay, and turn over the keys, yet no one ever called on Saturday. It was days before I could talk to someone about returning the keys, and thus, had to change the locks.

The crew worked diligently and were able to match the new wood to the existing. They were pleasant throughout the process and made an effort to keep me informed as well as a serious attempt to clean up the wood dust. When I had some questions about a few small areas after the work was completed, the principal of the firm came by and mitigated my concerns with one exception and he had one of his men return to fix that item. Two of the men also helped me move a few heavy items from my patio to the street.

A storm was coming and they were predicting heavy snow. The technicians were concerned about coming out the very next day, but were willing to stay late to finish the job. I really appreciated this, since we weren’t sure when they’d be able to come out and finish the floors due to the storm.

We called to get a quote, and set up an appointment for a Saturday morning. The estimator arrived on time and quickly determined the scope of the work. He measured the area and gave us a very reasonable quote. We agreed on a date for the work and, once again the installers arrived on time and obviously well experienced. They were careful to protect existing flooring and installed plastic dust barriers before starting to work. They quickly removed all the furniture and completed the carpet removal. All carpeting was taken away. They cleaned up carefully after each day, even though we were not staying at home during the work. After sanding the floors and staining them to match the existing hardwood in adjacent rooms, they applied two coats of polyeurethane to protect the floors. This took an extra day to complete because the finish took longer to dry than expected (probably because the work was done during tropical storm Earl, which dumped over 10 inches of rain on us while the work was being done). The sanding was very well done, with no discernable unevenness of the floor when they were finished, even in the areas where new boards were installed. The color match to the existing floor was perfect, as was the sheen. The refinihing was completed on a Friday, but the floors were not dry enough to move the furniture back until the next day. The installers arrived on time on Saturday and moved the furniture back, being very careful not to scratch the floors. Even though some of the pieces were very heavy, they placed them precisely where we wanted them. They also re-installed part of a built-in closet organizer that they had removde to finish the floor. Before we started to replace the clothing and other items that we had removed from closets after they left, we intended to dust and clean all the surfaces. We were impressed to find that they had done a careful cleaning themselves, to the extent that we did not really need to clean at all!

We had some water damage to an area of our laminate wood flooring. Juan came to do an estimate quickly and put it in writing, which is very nice. They came and tore up the damaged flooring and said it would need to sit for about a week to let the area dry and to purchase the replacement flooring. They returned the following week and installed the new flooring. The installers were very professional and definitely took their time to make sure it looked nice. My only complaint is that the foreman did not buy enough wood initially, so the installers were left sitting at our condo for about 3 hours with nothing to do. It then took them until 8pm to finish, which was about 3 hours longer than originally thought. However, despite this minor inconvenience, the floor looks great and we are very happy with the service provided. We feel it was a fair price for the amount of work performed and the time it took to complete the entire install. I would recommend this company for wood floor repairs.

We were on vacation when they did the work. They did a super job. The floors look great and the kitchen and bathroom where they worked were clean when we got home.

The experience was excellent from the estimation to the performance! The floor is a 100+years old red pine with both water damage and old adhesive from a previous floor covering. The crew searched out an replaced the damaged flooring, trying to match reclaimed red pine from their inventory. They then sanded and refinished it all while consulting with us throughout the process to ensure we were satisfied. I will engage them again as we work through the refinishing of flooring in our home.

The owner met me promptly at the agreed upon time. I pointed out the job and the problem areas on the old floors. He quickly assessed the situation, assured me they could handle it and then gave a detailed written estimate at that time. I was not sure whether to include the steps at that time and he was flexible saying he could do them at a later time. No pressure. He gave suggestions on stains/finishes. I called a couple weeks later to give them the OK and they were able to schedule the work the next week. Two employees arrived and started working right away. They were pleasant and communicative. They taped off openings to the other areas as best they could - (sanding kicks up a lot of sawdust). The entire process took three days: 1st day-move furniture/block off area/sand & first coat polyurethane; 2nd day - 2nd coat polyurethane; 3rd day - move furniture back in place. Overall good experience, no hassels.

Wonderful! I had used AG Floors previously and was happy with their service. They were prompt and efficient when they showed up to do the estimate, and in every exchange we had with them, whether in person or on the phone, they were extremely courteous and professional. We requested that they start on Friday after we closed on the house, but they said they couldn't start mid-morning, so would start on Saturday. As we left the closing, we got a call that they were able to start after all, which was terrific because it gave us an extra day to move, and showed the attention to detail they give their customers that they remembered our request. The workmen were true professionals and worked extremely efficiently. In the last week, we requested that they come back out to fix one spot that was not finished, and also to give us an estimate to repair an area damaged by workmen after the floors were done. They again came out promptly, and were extremely helpful in telling us what they would be able to repair. We would recommend them without reservation and would absolutely use them again.

It went very well. Everyone showed up on time and was pleasant to deal with. The only suggestion I have is for the company to be proactively communicate while the job is ongoing. The workers do a great job, but they do not speak English very clearly, so a call from the home office after the day's work was complete would be helpful. The floors look great and I recommend their services.

Would not recommend and/or hire them again. The floors turned out ?OK?, not Wow. They lacked professionalism and were dismissive of complaints at job completion. We called for an estimate after seeing them ranked highly on Angie's List. They were prompt about coming out for an estimate and the person who did the estimate seemed knowledgeable. We had several questions at that initial meeting about dust and fumes and he said there would be a lot of dust but they minimize it with vacuums and he assured us their company was knowledgeable about green products. We asked that they use a water-based finish and he was fine with that. They completed the job in the amount of time they said they would. But beyond that, we had several other issues with them: We called at least twice between the first estimate and when the job started to ask about using a zero VOC stain and what that would entail. They were pushing MinWax (probably what they always use) but we wanted to at least explore other options. We were told that they would research it and get back to us and no one ever did. They could have just said, hey, we don't do that. But to say you would research it and then not do it is unprofessional. The application of stain was sloppy. We understand that some stain is going to get above the floor on baseboards, but at waist height? And stain fingerprints all over the house? This was unacceptable to us. We called them and asked them to come out to take a look, which they did. But they were rude and dismissive during their visit, just shrugging their shoulders that this happens. They made no attempt to rectify the situation. This was especially hard to swallow after we had just had the whole house freshly painted before the flooring job started. There were gashes and holes in the walls where it seemed the equipment had butted up against it. Again, these were shown to someone who came out to investigate our complaint but their attitude was dismissive. When we showed up to move into the home, we found the downstairs bathroom completely clogged and filthy. No one was living in the home while they were working and no one else was there (and it was working before they started). We understand that workers will need to use the restroom, but no one notified us or attempted to clean it so we showed up to find a huge mess. In one room they installed the shoe molding over a floor vent opening that butted up against the wall. Now the floor vent does not fit back into the opening. A minor detail but sloppy.

They were responsive and punctual from the estimate through the completed project. They worked with me to meet a tight deadline. The finished floor looked good. I had one issue with a ragged edge on a reinstalled threshold at the kitchen entrace. I had to make two appointments before I got someone back to look at it and agree that the threshold needed to be fixed. When the workmen came back to make the fix they did not have the right product to make the fix, but I agreed to have them install another threshold that was unstained and not a proper fit. I will replace it at a later date when I do a kitchen remodel later this year.

Very well. The work was done perfectly and you can't tell that the floors were ever damaged or scratched. (Note: At this price, we moved all the furniture possible (except large items), removed pictures, and contents of closets before they arrived. Also, the house predictably needed a good vacuuming when the work was completed.) The floors look new (and our house sold in less than 3 weeks).
