AG Floors

We had a surprise when we lifted up the carpets in the bedroom and found some old water damage. But they were able to stain to match so the damage didn't show and did a great job at filling gaps between boards as the floor is already quite old. They came when they said they would and worked professionally so we were very happy.

Sam, the owner, came out and gave us an estimate and was on time and professional. Some of the other hardwood flooring companies that had given us estimates said ours would be a difficult job, but not Sam. He said it was not a difficult job for them and they did this kind of work all the time (the toothing in of the new flooring). We had received estimates from 5 other A rated Angie's list flooring companies and his was the best estimate. The men who came to install the new hardwood and the toothing in were on time, professional, and hard working as were the men who did the sanding,staining and refinishing. The contractor doing the kitchen work commented on what a good job they did. We thought they did an excellent job and are thinking of doing another room with hardwood. We would most definitely have them back.

In a nutshell, AG Floors was brilliant. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who needs work done on their hardwood floors. Their price was very reasonable, their service friendly and professional, and the result above and beyond what I expected. Here's an anecdote that will give you a real sense of their dedication to their customer. As you can imagine, floor refinishing is a messy business, so we scheduled it while we were out of town on vacation. Our main point of contact, Jasmine, had a key to the house and she made sure everything was good to go before we left town. The problem came when they pulled up some damaged flooring in the kitchen. They discovered that some of the wood was wet. Turns out, we'd had a leaky pipe that was dripping for years, inside a wall, and it was just enough of a leak to keep the subfloor damp and damage the wood on top of the subfloor. Not an obvious leak. They could have just put the new flooring down and we'd only have discovered a problem years down the road as the water made its way through the new flooring. Instead, the flooring guy called Jasmine, and she called us. She couldn't have been nicer, suggested that she have the crew stop working until we could get the pipe repaired, let the now exposed subfloor dry out, then they'd come back out and finish the job. Long story short, we came home, got a plumber in there, the floor dried out and, the very day the floor dried out, they had their crew back in their to finish the floors. And they look GREAT! They also did a great job masking the walls with plastic to keep the smell and dust confined. Just so you know, when you refinish flooring, you WILL get dust, no way to avoid it. Plan on wiping down all surfaces (walls and ceiling included) when the work is finished or, if you have the budget, get a cleaning crew in their to really wipe things down before you put all your stuff back.

Fantastic! Samuel of AG Floors was the only person (out of three companies) to write up the proposal/estimate at the house. The other people emailed me the estimates several days later. Although I hadn't signed the contract, Samuel said his people would stop by the next morning to show me the colors. The Derecho storm hit that night and knocked out the power, internet, and phone. The next morning, I was stunned when AG Floors showed up. They drove nearly 30 miles to my house on roads without traffic lights! With that kind of service, I didn't even wait to see the estimates from the other companies and went ahead with AG Floors. When the estimates finally showed up, AG Floors was the lowest bid! Long story short, I flew back to the Midwest a day later to pack up for the move to Virginia. It was nerve wracking not to be there. With restored power and an empty house, AG Floors started working on the floors early than planned. The floors were able to cure for an extra week before we moved in. The moment of truth arrived when we opened the door to our new house. The hardwood floors are beautiful! The color turned out just right, the amount of shine is just right, and the floors are as smooth as can be! It is a top-notch job. We are so impressed and we recommend AG Floors to all our friends.

The gentleman who came out to do the quote was prompt and efficient, and gave me a fair price (if not a screaming good deal). The office called me back to offer me installation a day earlier than scheduled, which was great because of my compressed construction timeline. The crew failed to call before they showed up, but that was the only demerit. The crew was polite, hard-working, and did an outstanding job - their work makes the folks who did the previous floor installation (in other parts of the house) look shameful! Highly recommend.

Service was excellent from start to finish. We received a response to our request for an estimate that same day. Samuel was able to come out that week and gave us an estimate on the spot. Work began a week alter. The crew (David and Jose) were very profsesional and thorough. It was obvious that David took pride in his work. Floors look beautiful! Work was completed in the time estimated. We highly recommend them and would use them again.

Samuel gave me an excellent price, and his very patient workmen allowed me more time than they should have to make up my mind about color! I thought I knew what stain I wanted until a sample was placed on the floor -- after that, they laid out several others and told me the pros and cons of each. The final choice turned out great, and the project was completed ahead of time (in spite of my work-delaying dithering.) I did find a stain-covered handprint on a wall after they had left, and when I spoke to Samuel about it afterwards, he offered to have someone come back and take care of it. I appreciated the offer, but decided that it was easier to just slap on a little touch-up paint since I still had the paint can.

We just bought our house and were doing some renovations for about a month before we moved in. The house had original hardwood floors that were really scratched up and had never been refinished. We had intended to do the refinishing ourselves, but with all of our other projects, we were running out of time before we had to move in. We were looking for someone to do the floors who did good quality work for a good price, and was also available that week. AG Floors was able to come to the house and provide with an estimate the next day, and ready to begin work the day after that. They repaired, sanded, stained, and put on 2 coats of polyurethane in 2 days! They did the hardwood floors on the 1st floor of the house - living room, dining room, 3 bedrooms, and closets. The house was completely empty and all the base moulding was removed, which probably helped them get everything done more quickly. But it does make the clean up much easier :)

. Sam Angel came to do the estimate. He was extremely nice and professional and I can't say if the price was good since I just went with AG floors due to the fact that I was impressed with Sam on his first visit. I had carpet installed and wanted our hard wood polished. I let him know that we had intentions of selling the house. Instead of trying to make more money early on, he recommended that the polishing could be done when all the furniture was moved out of the house and gave me a print out of the estimate so that we could let potential buyers know we would be paying for it. The only thing I could reocmmend that would be better about the service is that they could not give me an actual esimated time that the workers would arrive. My husband was sleeping the morning they arrived and for some reason, did not hear the doorbell. I was at work where I could not use my cell phone so their calls were unanswered that day. I'm not sure why they didn't try the house phone but I know it was also partly our fault. We quickly rescheduled with no incident. The 2 guys who worked had to install the carpets with our furniture in the bedroom! (our other rooms were packed with moving boxes). They worked hard and left within 3 hours. Work was beautiful. Thank you AG floors!I would recommend them to anyone.

Overall it went very well. I received 4 estimates from "A" list vendors. I liked three of the four vendors and the final decision came down to the cost.

Our project with AG Floors was a success from start to finish with one minor bump in the middle. They came out quick and gave us a very fair estimate and a good idea of what they could do to our floors. We wanted to change the color slightly and they helped us pick the best color. When we signed the contract, the planned start date was a Monday morning, however the Saturday before, they needed to push the start date to Tuesday. We were told the floors would be finished Wednesday and ready to walk on by Thursday. Unfortunately, when we called to pay the remainder of our balance on Thursday morning we were told that the second coat of sealer had yet to go on due to slow drying. The second coat went on late Thursday afternoon and the floors were "walkable" by Friday evening. The floors look amazing, almost brand new. The work done was great. We would have preferred to have actually been notified by the company on Wednesday that the second coat had yet to put on the floors instead of us calling and finding out indirectly a whole day later. All that matters is the finished product and its wonderful!

The experience with AG Floor was fantastic. I will use them in the future for any other flooring projects.

We first had them refinish the hardwood floors in three rooms. We liked the floors so much, that we had them come back a few weeks later to refinish three more rooms. I had received four quotes from different companies, and they had the best price. They were responsive to a few issues I pointed out, such as a funky portion of the trim and a rough spot in the wood, and came up with good solutions for each. I plan to hire them again for the remaining two rooms in our house. The dust from the projects was pervasive, but I suspect that would be the same with any company.

He was very honest and told me what really needed to be done, even though it didn't require him to do any work for me. I really appreciated his honesty and felt it was necessary for me to praise him for his honesty and integrity.

Quality of flooring itself was good. The taping off to sand the floors and contain dust was thorough and adequate. The issue on the poor rating was the damage to walls and trim when the tile floor was removed, and the extremely poor job to contain dust and debris when the tile was removed. AG replaced the damaged trim, but we had to have the dents/holes in the walls patched and painted (not covered by AG). The tile dust in the house from the tile removal was so pervasive that it took over 3 days to clean the house. Additionally, the tile was cracked in the bathroom off the foyer (tile that was to remain in place in the adjacent room). The cracked tile and transom is still not fixed as AG floors does not do that kind of work. I have to hire a separate contractor to finish the job. AG should have discussed the transition issue from the new wood floor to the remaining tiled area when the estimate was given.

They had a really good system of working with taking orders. The guy came to take measurements with his iPad and took several pictures. They have a pretty nice office and everyone was friendly and helpful. The project was finished when they said it would be and the finished project exceeded my expectations.

The new flooring installation was great, however I was not happy with the refinishing portion of the project. There was some discoloring and gaps in the thresholds between 2 rooms. I had to contact the company and send some pictures in regarding the work, the president came out and told me he thought everything looked okay.

They did a great job. They were prompt, professional and cleaned up after themselves when the job was finished. The floors look great. The work crew didn't speak a lot of English, but we were able to communicate enough to get the job done.

We had AG Floors out for an estimate, which turned out to be the best price. I communicated with them over email, including signing the contract, which i prefer. It was very easy to schedule a date to do the work. They arrived on time and blocked off the rooms to be used with heavy duty plastic and painters tape. they sanded down the floors and refinished them. they buffed the floors and did another layer of stain. the floors look spectacular and are shiny and beautiful! There were some spots that we did not point out as areas we'd like extra work on, and AG Floors left them as they were. After seeing how good the floors look, I wish that the workers had pointed out the problem areas and offered some sort of fix (given the right price we probably would have done it). As discussed, they replaced the molding with matching hardwood looking strips. we noticed a strip missing between the bathroom and bedroom and called a couple of days after they finished to get them to come back out. At first they said it wasn't something they could fix, but after we suggested to call someone else who could and send them a bill, they came out first thing the next day, put in the strip and stained it, and were gone within minutes. also as discussed at the time of the estimate, we vacated the house for 3 days, and upon return found the smell to still be so strong that we stayed away for another night and 2 days. I'm told this is normal, though.

David and Pedro showed up on time the first day and were absolutely the hardest working guys I have ever witnessed around here in this area. These guys worked on our floors for a week straight and were respectful, kind and experienced. They stripped our floors. sanded, stained, buffed and put 2 coats of poly. Pedro used a hand tool for the stairs and I was amazed at great they looked before staining began. David and Pedro were on their knees sanding areas that were hard to reach with the sander. These young men deserve a raise because they are dedicated to their job and their work ethic is hard to find in this day and age. They sanded an area and put down 3 different stain colors for me to choose from and David answered all my questions I had for him. Our floors look amazing and I have already referred several friends to AG Floors. If you need hardwood floors refinished call this company because you will not be disappointed. They were amazing! Jose and his partner did a BEAUTIFUL job. We have lived in two other apartments with parquet and although we have not previously been responsible for the refinishing and repairs, we have seen less than stellar jobs. In our new place, you would never be able to tell which tiles were replaced. Additionally, Jose and his partner were very punctual and professional and from our brief conversations, you could tell that they REALLY knew their stuff. Also, the AG Floors staff (Yazmin, in our case), kept in touch throughout the 3 days of work.My husband and I feel we got a great value through AG Floors and would not hesitate to recommend them to others or use them again in the future.

Outstanding! Most prompt/curteous response, lowest estimate, always punctual, professional and provided outstanding results. Definitely recommend to others and will certainly use again!

I called AG Floors and they were able to meet for an estimate within 2 days. We went over what we wanted to have done and we received the estimate at the end of the meeting. AG Floors was $1,000 less than the other estimate and we were very happy with the professionalism of their sales associate so I called the company later that day to schedule them. This was on a Friday afternoon and they were able to have a team out to do the work the following Wednesday AM. I was told that the team would arrive at the house between 8:30 and 9 am and they arrived exactly at 8:30. (For each day of work - I was given a window for when the team would arrive and they always arrived promptly at the beginning of the window.) The team leader, Osmund, was very friendly, helpful and professional. I discussed the stain color we wanted with him and he showed me all of the stains close to that. I chose 4 of them which he put on the floor for me after they had finished sanding and I made a final decision that way. The team spent 12 hours at our home doing all of the sanding that day. They carefully taped and bagged all of the entrances to the rooms where they weren't working. There was no dust residue anywhere in the house when they were done. On the second day they put down the stain and did one coat of poly on the 3rd day and one coat on the 4th. We are thrilled with how the floors turned out.

My new house had the original oak floors hiding under wall to wall carpets. AG Floors helped me decide that the floors were salvagable, cautioned me appropriately about the water damage that couldn't be fixed, and helped me choose a stain color by showing how it would look on my actual floors. Once hired, they removed my carpets for me, replaced the many damaged boards, and refinished the floors in the whole house including the stairs. There is some water damage in the floors as they had warned me, but I'm thrilled to death with how good they made the floors look. I'm very impressed with their skills, communication, and quality of their work!

The gentleman arrived as scheduled to perform a quote. He was thorough and wrote up the quote there on the spot. Upon later contacting them, they were able to schedule the work on the dates that worked best for me. I agreed to have the room cleared with the exception of the fridge and range. When the workers arrived, they were surprised to see the appliances in the room. Without question, they helped dismantle the fridge and range to get it out of the kitchen so that they had a cleared room. The taped and covered all fixtures in the kitchen and the doors and sanded the floors with minimal dust making it's way into the adjoining rooms. They finished the work as described and the floors look great.
