It was ok. Some of the workers were nice and knowledgeable. There were alot of manufacturing defects with doors, shower stalls, windows, etc. Those were rectified. However New Horizon workers made alot of mistakes on their own, but finally completed the job. The co worker in the office, Darleen was super. She no longer works for the firm, but was an asset for us during the process. Eventually a new employee was put on the payroll to help us out. He did a great job getting all the small complaints addressed. After all things were finally completed, the part that we were not happy about was the upstairs carpeting. Originally I wanted a lenolium floor in the loft. The builder talked me out of it and told me that carpet would be more appropriate as it would be better to absorb sound. He sent us to Lowes, we selected a commercial carpet. The salesman asked what type of padding I wanted with it, I said whatever it is designed to come with. The builder went to Lowes and ordered the carpet along with padding. Before the installation, it was noted to me by another Lowes salesman that the carpet should be been glued down instead of being installed with a pad, he also noted that the tackless installation would penetrate through the rug as the rug was very thin. The New Horizon installer said he would use the padding and it would be ok. I know nothing about carpet installation, so I said OK. They used the pad. A few months later, while still under warranty, the rug started to shift on the pad and become lumpy. They came to stretch it. Again it occured shortly thereafter while still under warranty, and again the worker came and stretched it. Awhile later we added furniture to the room and the rug started getting very lumpy all over. The same worker came back again, but said he he was laid off from New Horizon. He said the carpeting could no longer be stretched as it would rip and that I would have to pay around $1,000 out of pocket to have the job done properly by taking the pad out from under the rug and having the rug glued down the way it should have been originally. I know this ex-New Horizon worker very well, and would trust him to do the job properly. I then contacted Mr. William Hartley with the findings and requested that both Mr. Hartley and I chip in half and get this finally done properly. Mr. Hartley said he did enough for us and was not going to do anymore. I then contacted the Consumer Affairs department. They sent Mr. Hartley a letter. In response to the letter, the entire story was turned around saying I was the one that insisted on the pad after being advised by New Horizon personnel not to have one installed under commercial carpet. Why would I insist on and pay for a pad after being advised not to have one? Am I that dumb? I don't think so!!!! In closing, Mr. William (Bill) Hartley From New Horizon did not measure up to the integrity that I expected after paying approximately $180,000 for our home. Since this post, I have re contacted Mr. Hartley ....I will repost any new findings if or when he responds to my request once again to pay half for correcting this problem properly.
