AmeriGas has extremely poor customer service. I ran out of propane and was scheduled three separate times for AmeriGas to come to my house to refill my tank. I even took off work when I was told they would be there within the hour. They never showed up for any of the scheduled appointments! I called customer service in Jessup, Md. each time they did not show up and was assured they were coming on a different date and time FOR SURE this time. I have had enough. Just cancelled my account with AmeriGas. They are not reliable and do not keep their word on appointments.

Called to schedule a refill on 1/22/2016 at 1:15pm Told to expect delivery within 7 to 10 business days. After 8 business days (snow storm during this time) called back on 2/3/2016 to ask about delivery. Was told, they had forgotten us (not sure this matters but ...) and they would get us propane 2/4/2016 (9 business days). They did not come on 2/4/2016 so we called again on 2/5/2016 (10 business days). This time we were told they would get us a load by 2/9/2016 (12 business days). We decided to go elsewhere as this was becoming too time consuming and concerning about actually getting propane before we run out. Note our last delivery with them had delays also. I just think they need better customer satisfaction goals and communication.

I feel their price is high and I do not really like their customer service. They said they would get to us in 7 days and I said it was an emergency that we were low on propane. They were able to get out to us in 3 days but I felt the woman was short with me and it took several phone calls. It was not easy to get them to come out.

By and large, Amerigas has been a decent provider, but they have missed our auto-delivery twice, most recently during the super cold weather. Took a day to get them on the phone, but they did come to fill the tank around 7 pm the day I got through. Unfortunately, they only filled the tank halfway because of the shortage of propane. Hopefully, they won't miss another auto delivery.

The technician arrived outside of the timeframe that was discussed by the scheduling personnel but I didn't think anything of it because it was very cold that day and it was raining so I cut the guy some slack. After spending about 10 minutes "reviewing" the tank, the technician came to me and said there was a problem: the tank no longer had its certification plate and would have to be replaced because it was illegal to refill tanks without its plate. When I asked how the previous owners were being serviced by Amerigas if this were true, the technician called the office and had them doublecheck their records and indeed, they could not find the certification plate information in their records. When I asked how that was possible, the technician said that someone, at Amerigas, must have refilled the tank illegally and had done so for some time. He called the office and they said they would be in contact with me to replace the tank.
I decided that this sounded odd so I looked the tank over myself and in less than 30 seconds found the certification plate. I called Amerigas and told them of my discovery and they said they would have a technician call me the following day to come out immediately after that. No one called. So I called them again, spoke to the same person who had scheduled my prior appointments, a very nice woman named Dawn, and explained the situation again. She apologized and said someone would be in contact with me either that day or right after the Thanksgiving holiday. I called the Friday after Thanksgiving but no one answered the phone.
Its January, without a return call, and now that the holidays are over, I'm seeking someone else to refill my propane tank. This company's organizational and scheduling skills are abhorrent and they have no sense of customer service or follow-up.
I decided that this sounded odd so I looked the tank over myself and in less than 30 seconds found the certification plate. My contact was Richard Simmons; a consummate professional. There were no missteps. Every piece was on time and the installation and coordination with the generator installers and landscape company went off without a hitch. I cannot recommend more highly the group I did business with and hope will continue to provide service far into the future.

We bought a house in the beginning of last November with a propane stove, fed by a tank rented from Amerigas. We did the forms to start an account with them, had our credit run, paid around $100 for an inspection of the tank and... nothing. They just disappeared.
I've emailed them intermittently ever since, trying to get them to tell us what's going on, and they occasionally bother to write back - and when they do, they tell me they'll call right away or something of that ilk, only it never happens.
I understand that the lady we bought our house from still occasionally receives bills, but we haven't gotten one yet, and haven't officially started an account. To the best of my knowledge (and it's possible; the tank was filled shortly before we moved in and a little goes a long way), they haven't delivered gas since we bought the house. And I can't seem to get them to.
If you like your sanity, look around for someone with better reviews here. I have never worked with any company so categorically unable to do what it's supposed to do as this one. I should never have wasted the money to get them to inspect the tank.
I just hope that when I tell them they have to get their tank off our property, they act on that.

We built a house and we just moved in last December. We had to pick propane companies. We got three estimates and they were the only ones who can do it in the time frame we needed so we picked them. They had done pretty good. We have a very small tank that they were supposed to monitor how often to fill it so in the past ten months, we run out twice. The last time we run out, they run a tank test on it and I hope I am not charged for it. We run out because they are not checking. We almost needed a monthly fill until we were able to get a bigger tank and they somehow missed that so we run out twice. I have no meter or anything to read out on the tank so I can call them when it is almost empty. They have to monitor it and fill it. I think their customer service is good. Their billing is easy. They do come when we call so whenever I have a problem, they do come and fix it immediately.
