Flaherty Floors

Brendan and Tom removed carpeting and re-finished our hardwood floor. They arrived at the appointed time every day and did a very nice job that included replacing thresholds and adding shoe molding. They also replaced three boards that had unexpected drill holes and put putty into gaps between boards without extra charge. They promised to return to move the heavy sofa back in place in about a month, after the finish coating has dried to the point that the floor can be carpeted.

Brendon Flaherty was super dedicated to delivering a quality finish to our hardwood floor that needed a lot of sanding to make it right. He gave us a total of 5 sample color combinations to see what they actually looked like on our floor, then resanded those sample areas before finishing the job with our selection. He and his partner Tom were easy to work with and terrific craftsmen.

They were wonderful from start to finish. First, by making contact with me and continuing lines of communication until the day the floors were done. We had an unexpected repair/refinish project after our tenants moved out of our rental home. Flaherty Floors were very quick to work us in for an estimate as well as scheduling & completing the project. They also provided a quote that was the best price out of the THREE I received. We hired a company to install flooring and re-finish the remaining floors to match. We chose the original company because of a few positive recommendations and they were significantly cheaper. We were told the job could be completed in 4 to 5 days, max. However, it took over two weeks and we were extremely disappointed when we saw the final product. The staining was inconsistent (some areas were not properly sanded, edges, corners and under counters) and there was so much pitting that it felt like sandpaper. Plus, there was prominent chatter throughout all the finished flooring. We spoke to several additional companies and Brendan responded immediately and came out to assess the flooring. Brendan meticulously cataloged the problems, which were more than we had even noticed, and communicated with us in a refreshingly direct and straightforward manner. Brendan also helped us determine that our previous contractor was not even a licensed professional and showed us what is required by the state to perform home improvement contracted work. He was professional and very experienced in repairing floors from botched jobs. We hired Flaherty Floors to redo our floors a second time. Brendan told us it would take 4 days to complete and fixed molding and replaced multiple boards the prior company had damaged. They showed up every day they stated they would (unlike the first company) and they were extremely professional, hung plastic and cleaned and vacuumed meticulously. Our house was cleaner after they worked than before they started. We would re-hire him and his company without hesitation and recommend him to anyone. He sent us pictures of the flooring as he was progressing and listened to all of our concerns. Brendan is extremely knowledgeable and his pricing is still lower than many competitors. We would feel comfortable with him and his crew doing any work in our home.
