This is stupid! I went with another contractor. There was no work performed by Kolb.

First I called them and scheduled an estimate. That whole process took about 10 days, and was pleasant, the estimator was quick and on-time. I received the final estimate later that day by email, and sent out a signed copy 2 days later, on New Years Eve. The work was scheduled for the 2nd, and although the serviceman was different than the estimator, the service person was similarly professional. Upon his arrival I left for work. When I returned home the service person had locked the door as requested. The work was all as expected, and described. They even took care to address the specific concerns I had in relation to the location of the outlet.

They diagnosed that one of the safety switches had been flipped, and they restored the power rather quickly after that.

Their estimator, Lew, came out to look at our setup and give us an estimate of the cost of the job. So many people had decided to get the generator hookup that it took a month to get the parts. Today, December 12, we finally got the installation done. Their electrician , Ben, came out as scheduled and worked steadily for a good four hours. He went beyond the basic work to help us understand how our new system would operate. He also went over all the circuits in our house to help us identify each circuit's number. What a great employee! We have had work done by this company before, but never something this big and complicated. We'll call then whenever we have need of an electrician. They are not inexpensive, but who wants cheap when dealing with electricity in the home.

It was a truely painless experience. Once I purchased the Big Deal I contacted the company to schedule an appointment. The workman arrived on time and completed the installation without a problem.

I purchased a Big Deal for $195 for whole house lightning and surge protection. The appointment was made and the technician showed up on time. He installed a whole house surge protector at our electrical panel, and the work was completed in a timely manner. We had no problems with this company and would use them again.

The technician arrived on schedule. He completed the work quickly and satisfactorily. He explained that the cost was a bit higher than estimated since I didn't have any extra space in the electric box and he had to add space. Overall, it was an excellent and cost effective job.

Overall, the tech was here on time and gentlemen. I will use this company again in the near future.

The installation took less than half an hour. When completed, the electrician informed me that I would have to pay an additional $60.66 for the installation of a two-pole 240V circuit breaker, Since I was presented with a done deal, I had no choice but to pay. Yes, he original on-line announcement (but not the coupon) had included, in the fine print, a statement to the effect that a circuit breaker might have to be installed at extra cost. Note MIGHT, not MUST! Now, how many people have an open 240V 2-pole circuit breaker installed in their electrical panel? I daresay that everyone who signed up for this deal was charged for this circuit breaker. This was a necessity, not an option, and this should have been clearly spelled out.. Moreover, a circuit breaker of this kind costs less than $20, which leaves a nice margin for Kolb. But this was not all. The surge protector installed was SYCOM's SYC-120/240-T2. This item is available on the internet for $50. Thus, the equipment installed cost approx. $70.. I paid $255.66. Thus Kolb pocketed $185 for half an hours work. And this they claim is1/3 off their regular price. This was indeed a Big Deal for Kolb, but not for the customer

The device was smaller than I expected and the technician didn't really know how it worked, but he said that it was supposed to be very effective and he was certainly competent when it came to the installation, so I let him proceed. I don't really know how to test it, but I haven't had any trouble since it was put in.

Everything went smoothly and quickly. He came when he was scheduled. Answered questions we had. I purchased an Angies list special for this service.

I called and I told them that my fan was not working. I told them I had a shorted wall socket in the same room. When they came the man was sticking a electric meter in the socket. He left the room and didn't ask a lot of questions and wasn't really listening to me. He replaced the wall socket. He told me I should have a certain wall socket installed but he didn't even install the recommended socket. He gave me the bill. I was charged for travel time. I called back but they didn't even seem to care. Another guy came back and recommended that I should have a new panel installed. He was willing to refund $50 for the dissatisfied work I had done. I think they rip people off. It's 2 years later and I still feel angry about it. My neighbor found a ceiling light was connected to the fan that was located in the center of the room later on.

They dd a really good job. I've used them twice before also. When he was drilling he accidentially he hit our water line. which was not good.

Called to take advantage of thier special for installing a Whole House Lightning and Surge Protection. The only item I found fault with was that the email that I received did not make mention of additional cost of the circuit breaker. Thier 'On Line" add does as I found out later in doing follow-up research; to thier credit, the tech that installed the device did not charge me for the breaker after I told him that was not mentioned in the ad. I would use this company again!
