Description of Work: Replaced two old wired smoke alarms with new wired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Could not figure how to replace a third old smoke alarm. Replaced all duplex and switches in kitchen. Old materials provided by owner.

Description of Work: I called them out of concern for some loose wiring in the basement. They came the next day and taped the 12v wires back in place. While the technician was there, at my request, he also installed a switch for the light in the rear basement storage room, and added a new light.

Description of Work: I had been having problems with a light switch, and had tried reconnecting a wire inside the box. But all I did was make things worse. I called Kolb. The technician came and fixed everything for me. He was very professional and never said a thing about my failed attempt!

Description of Work: We will definitely use Kolb Electric again. The electrician replaced multiple light switches and outlet plugs. Our only suggestion is that when the time goes into the next timeframe by 2-3 mins. that there be a ratio and not the full timeframe charge. The time it takes for the electrician to go back and forth to his truck to get items needed could be taken into consideration.

Description of Work: I used Kolb based on reviews and the fact I had seen their truck in a neighbor's driveway on several occasions. Very easy to deal with on the phone. Appointment was based on my convenience, not theirs. Provider arrived on time, was neat, and was efficient. When he didn't have a particular part, he came the next day when I said I would be home. Very, very accomodating. Wonderful company!

Description of Work: They installed a new outlet, close to an existing outlet. Technician was professional & fast (which is a blessing, since it was going to lead to an hourly charge). No one told me, ahead of time, that several holes would be made in the wall, but the technician covered the holes w/the blocks of drywall he removed, so the holes wouldn't be exposed.

Description of Work: We called the company for an estimate of recessed lighting. The company did get back to us in a reasonable amount of time. We are going with another company though due to difference in price quotes.

Description of Work: Installed light fixtures in three rooms. The electrician did a great job. He talked through some ideas on positioning of fixtures and did a professional job with the installation and clean up. Very pleased with outcome.

Description of Work: Kolb installed two all house surge suppressors (I have two separate panel boxes). The arrived on time and took very little time to install the suppressors. They made no mess and were careful to clean up what little sawdust which occurred during installation.

Description of Work: We lost power to three bedrooms on Monday evening. While it wasn't an emergency, we called the emergency number. They took all the information and promised service on Tuesday. I checked back on Tuesday morning (New Years eve) and was told someone was scheduled for late afternoon. The tech arrived about 4 pm quickly diagnosed the problem and before 5 pm the problem plug was fixed. Kolb has been the only electrical service we have used in 20 years. They have always been professional and only company I call whenever there is an electrical problem.

Description of Work: The electrician rebuilt the lower part of a small outdoor light so that the light is now supported by a hollow plastic pipe that serves to conduct the electric wire eighteen inches into the ground and then turned for about 8 inches towards a point where the wire then led from the ground through an above-ground metal conduit over the foundation and into the basement to the compete the connection. Originally, the pipe from the light into the ground was metal, but it had rusted out at ground level. An L-shaped plastic pipe was used to replace the metal one. When finished, the plastic pipe was not rigid enough and had to be supported by an additional plastic pipe joined to the basic one with a plastic tie. It sounds a bit make-shift, but it works and should last. I expect to use this firm for future electrical work where needed.
