Description of Work: The service provider setup a date and did not show up. Worse he mentioned that we would be a few hours late right before our appointment. He told that he will not call and I have to be available at home. So we waited and waited the whole day and he did not show up. We wasted our whole day due to this and had to cancel our other schedules. The provider did mention I will be refunded the amount and will give an estimate. The came another day and just gave estimate without doing anything. But the refund did not show up for months. (Even after promising they will after several calls). After a few months they told me that I have to get it from Angies List directly.

Description of Work: They provide semi-annual maintenance for my 3 hvac systems. It all went well. I've used James A Wheat & Sons for a number of years now and the maintenance they have done for me has kept my systems up and running with no hiccups.

Description of Work: They performed handyman services. Fixed some broken plantation shutters, installed an electrical socket, mounted a fire extinguisher, etc. Very nice, very professional. Would definitely recommend them again.

Description of Work: For the most part, the installation of my new Hot Water heater went along professionally and smoothly, however, the work failed inspection. It appeared that they tried to cut corners. I would fully recommend this vendor with the understanding that tracking their progress is a must.

Description of Work: besides checking he recommended I replace the two outlets by the kitchen sink with grounded ones because of safety issue (water+electricity). I had them installed. It was pricey, but since I didn't know how to, I had them do it.

Description of Work: They replaced an air conditioner compressor. Parts were under warrantee. Fee was mostly for labor. The job required two visits and two workmen. When it became clear in the first visit what was required, they scheduled the follow-on for the next day. Complications arose the second day that were handled expeditiously, professionally, and without additional charge.

Description of Work: I purchased a $99 Big Deal for a Gas Log Fireplace Tune-Up, Cleaning & Inspection. They did the work and they did a nice job, but I wouldn't hire them again.

Description of Work: Fixed a small part on the A/C unit. We were not under the annual contract at the time so we did have to wait 5 days for repair. Fortunately, it was not too hot outside. Back on the annual contract which should speed up service time.

Description of Work: During the estimate phase James A Wheat did an outstanding job. They did for free three tests to help determine what size unit I needed and provided estimates on several alternatives on the spot after entering the test information via a tablet into their system. I purchased a new furnace and central air conditioner with a humidifier/dehumidifier and variable speed fan. I love my new HVAC system. It makes my house far more comfortable than my previous 25 year old unit and my utility bills are much lower. | However the path to this result has been a long and winding one. I would have to give their installation process a C-. After a two day installation they forgot to turn my water back on and I had an evening without water. Then my electrical inspection failed and the plumbing inspection failed twice. My new thermostat was defective and I started getting heat, not air conditioning. I had to follow up in the fall when I never received one of my promised rebates. This past winter I had two minor floods due to the humidifier feed not being adjusted properly. I must say that each time I called I got immediate service and the problems always got resolved. Their office is great and very responsive. But I had to take a lot of time off to be home for all this service. | So all in all I was a satisfied customer in the end, but I wish I had asked more questions about the experience of who would be doing my actual installation.

Description of Work: We are in the final stages of a conversion to natural gas. We have had many meetings with Wheat and Sons because natural gas conversion is a lengthy process. We got a second quote to actually do the gas line work inside our house, but Wheat and Sons was cheaper and has displayed more knowledge about how to do the work than the second quote.
