Description of Work: My hotwater heater stopped working due to a leak from the unit above mine. They came on short notice (and on time!) to troubleshoot the issue. They determined that my combustion chamber had flooded and provided cost quotes to replace the ruined part or to install a totally new hot water heater. Due to the cost, I ended up getting a second opinion and did not use their services for the repair. I will note that the coupon from Angie's List was not honored and the repair man claimed that they were no longer part of Angie's List. Overall they were good though.

Description of Work: Fixed my dinning room gas log sets and conducted maintenance on two other maintenance sets.

Description of Work: Wheat came out to do the annual inspection/maintenance on our gas logs. They do a good job, make good recommendations, are very neat and clean, and punctual. The only bad thing was that when we called for an appt in November, we had to wait til January to get the work done. This year we will call much earlier for the appt.

Description of Work: They replaced my furnace and A/C unit with Carrier equipment that is more efficient and put in a WiFi thermostat. I believe the job was done well. I asked them to straighten the main return duct that they had shifted to the side when installing the new furnace and was at an angle and one piece of the vent duct was in backwards when the inspector came. I believe the installers know how to do it but that perfect is not their goal. They just want it to work. The A/C has to wait until warm weather for the installation to be completed.

Description of Work: I retained them to install a water submeter. This was the worst experience ever I had with a plumber: sloppy, unprepared work, totally unprofessional workmanship (installed devices inside instead of outside as prescribed by code and manufacturer's documentation; improperly glued PVC pipes causing a water flood in utility room in the basement; installation failed twice Water Company's inspection,etc...) Overall, took more than an month to complete the job and required multiple inspectors' visits. Offered owner's apologies and $500 rebate at the end. |

Description of Work: I have used James A Wheat and Sons on two different occasions. The first to install a radon fan and the second to repair a humidifier attached to our heating system. On both occasions the service was excellent...from the initial phone contact through completion of the service. Their costs were very reasonable and the service personnel were prompt, knowledgeable and professional.

Description of Work: I had a leaky toilet generating a very costly water bill. The plumber was timely and very thorough, found the leak, replaced what was necessary and out the door all within an hour. I was very pleased with the service and felt the price was fair.

Description of Work: They performed the Angie's list special to inspect, etc. In the process they essentially fixed my problem (fire was turning itself off after a few minutes) and gave me lots of good information about the proper operation of the fireplace. Of course, they also offered a proposal to do additional work, but were very professional about it. I haven't decided about any further work at this time. They provided great value for this visit.

Description of Work: I bought a deal for $79 for a central a/c inspection, cleaning & tune-up. It went okay. They were pretty good.

Description of Work: I had 2 propane fireplaces repaired, the technician was very professional and knew exactly what was wrong, when we accidentally paid extra the funds were refunded immediately!. Also the technician even picked up a dirty towel that was at the base of the stairs and draped it over the bannister, what service!, I would highly recommend.

Description of Work: They did many things. Heating services are excellent. Plumbing services are lacking in service, need, and professionalism. They wanted to charge to replace with new or make repairs that were not needed.

Description of Work: Scheduled a 2 hour window to estimate a full furnace system replacement. They never showed, never called. Nada, zippo, zilch Wasted my time when I could be getting estimates from a reliable provider. The good thing? I didn't have to wait for poor service later in the process, so I guess they saved me some heartburn
