We called Tucker on a holiday weekend for a clogged condensate line that was overflowing and saturating our basement flooring. The weekend/holiday technician called very quickly and walked us through how to fix the issue on our own. We did exactly as the technician said and the problem was easily fixed and worked perfectly. Tucker could have have come out and charged us a weekend/holiday premium (minimum $199) for a 10 minute fix, but instead show real integrity. We will definitely use them for all future maintenance and service calls.

Our AC fan was blowing but no cold air seemed to be coming out. Tucker's came out promptly to inspect the problem. When the AC still seemed to not be blowing cold air consistently, they came back out and checked it again -- looks like it might have been a "user error." :) The technician actually sat in our drive way for a few minutes and then called us to make sure the AC was still behaving before he took off. Price was good, service was friendly and professional. Would use again!

The service went well. They were very responsive and easy to schedule. They came out the day after I purchased the deal. I paid an additional $150 to have some elements replaced. One technician came out and completed the job in about an hour and a half. The staff was punctual and I liked how accommodating they were.

Dana was great! Extremely knowledgeable and friendly, arrived on time, and immediately set out to find the source of the problem. Within several minutes he was able to locate the problem as a non-functioning capacitor, and he was able to install a new capacitor and have the A/C system back up in running. I would definitely use Tucker again if I had any problems with my heating or cooling unit.
Description of Work: Ran basic diagnostic on A/C system, located the problem which was a capacitor, and replaced it with a Turbo 200 Multi-Tap capacitor that carries a 5 year warranty.

The technician arrived on time. He had difficulty locating my unit as my previous service provider nor the builder had labeled the units. Once he found the unit, he labeled it for me for future reference. This was a extra step that was was required but a great courtesy for me. He found and repaired the problem quickly and gave me an estimate of when to expect the temperature to be return to normal within the home. The price was reasonable as well. I was very happy and will use this company again.

We knew we needed to replace our central AC system (indoor and outdoor units). We requested estimates from four companies. One company took too long to get back to us, and when they did, the appointment for an estimate was too far in the future (We were burning up without AC!), so we crossed them off the list. Another company provided a lowball estimate, but we were nervous about using them, because they did not even mention permits or inspections. A third company's estimates were high, and we subsequently realized that they were suggesting that we get a 3.5- or 4-ton unit to replace our current 2.5-ton unit, with no discussion of any reason why we might want to do this. Tuckers AC was very professional from the start. We were able to schedule a visit for the estimate without a problem. The representative arrived on time and was very polite. He inspected the current system carefully and took photos. He then sat with us and took the time to discuss our options in detail. He convinced us that it made sense to replace the furnace and the AC at the same time--both were 28 years old, the furnace would likely need replacement soon anyway, and doing them at the same time would save us $1200 (according to their prices). We discussed how much we use the AC, what SEER level made sense for us, and how we could pay for it. Fortunately, Tuckers works with the Maryland Home Energy Loan Program (MHELP), so we could easily finance the purchase over time if necessary. After comparing the estimates, we chose Tuckers and scheduled the installation. Because we had to wait about a week for an available date, Tuckers was nice enough to provide a portable AC unit that we could use to get through the 90-degree days in between. They delivered it and showed us how to use it. It made such a difference, helping us sleep through the nights! Two days before the installation, a technician came to measure everything again and ensure that all would go smoothly for the install. On install day, two technicians arrived on time. They were very polite and efficient. They wore booties inside the house at our request and put down drop cloths to protect our carpet. They installed a pump for the condensate to drain outdoors (required by code). They asked us before trimming bushes around the outdoor unit. They completed the install in less time than we expected. they provided the paperwork for the financing through MHELP, and they said they would schedule the inspections with WSSC and Montgomery County. Finally, they cleaned up completely after themselves, removing all the old equipment and leaving the area spotless. Our new equipment has a 12-year warranty. We were so pleased with the installation that we tipped the two workers. We highly recommend Tuckers!

The person showed up on time and was very cordial. He quickly diagnosed the problem and communicated the information so that I could understand. Then he promptly corrected the issue. This was the Angie's List 59. diagnosis deal. Additional money was required for the technician to fix the problem.

They were good. They came out a day or two after I purchased it. I spent a lot more than the big deal purchase. While they were actually out doing the maintenance that I purchased, it died. We don't have a home warranty. It was good that it died while they were here doing the maintenance because they knew exactly what the problem was. We didn't have to have someone come out again to do and inspection and pay for that to determine what the problem was. They did very well. The pricing was reasonable. Their punctuality was very good.

They could not of been more accommodating over the phone. I spoke to 2 different people (females), 1 for service call and 1 for setting up an estimate for new HVAC unit. Due to my urgency, I went with anther company whom previously quoted me and could replace my air conditioning unit this Wednesday. Therefore, no need for diagnostic service call or estimate. The people I spoke with (sorry did not get names) could not of been any nicer about my situation and cancellation. I would definitely contact Tucker for future services/products if needed.

In 8/2013, after a few paid visits to repair our only 8-yr old AC system, Tucker's recommended that we replace the AC unit and air handling system. To solve our cooling issue in this small condo unit, we trusted their expertise and paid them $7K to do the installation. Sadly after the installation, our tenant still complained that the place would not cool down to 72 degrees. By the time she reported her complaint and the time that Tucker's came to fix the issue, the weather had started to cool. Thus, Tucker's could not truly confirm that it had fixed the issue. Thus, their manager and I agreed to re-assess the problem in the next hot season which is now, June 2014. This is almost a year after we paid them $7k in full. Well, in the last two weeks, Tucker's has visited my condo 3 times after constant tenant complaints about the AC not cooling enough. In fact, when the first technician came, he observed that the fan was not even running. He replaced the transformer. He has also returned to perform further repairs but damaged my carpet with two holes. A key that I left with the technician was also not returned to me. After paying them $7k, why do we still have recurring problems? At this point, their expertise and integrity are questionable,

You are correct that we are having problems with the equipment at your rental property. We are covering these repairs 100% and will continue to do so until the issues have been satisfied. The system you have uses a specialized air handler for apartments. We have narrowed the problem down to a restriction within the coil of that air handler. We have ordered a new coil from the manufacturer. Thankfully your system has always been able to achieve 75 degrees even through this mid 90 degree weather. When the original problems occurred we extended your warranty and will do so again to ensure that the repairs are completed and the issues are no longer a problem. We always strive to complete repairs promptly, correctly the first time and without mistakes or accidents. When we have a problem that is not to that ideal, we do the everything possible to rectify it and we bear the responsibility of making things right. Our A/C decided to up and die on a Saturday evening, with an upcoming week of Forecasts well over 90F. We called first thing Monday morning. They offered to come out that day and take a look. As we couldn't be home that day, we opted for Tuesday. The technician was on time, friendly, and diagnosed the problem. (Which was exactly what we thought it was) He offered us several choices, up to and including replacing the entire unit. There was zero pressure to make a more costly decision. Unfortunately the technician did not have our particular motor on his truck, so it had to be ordered. After Steve Tucker called us and discussed the diagnosis, and recommended the cheaper option of just replacing the motor, he ordered the part. It took a couple of days for the part to arrive, and we were kept informed of the progress, daily. Sometimes, twice a day. The part arrived on a Friday afternoon, not early enough for us to get on that days schedule, but at 8:01am on Monday, our technician was at the door, and had the system up and running within 2 hours. We were very impressed with the level of service, and the willingness to cater to our rather unique situation, regarding scheduling. I would wholeheartedly recommend this company to anyone that asked.

I purchased an Angie's List deal to diagnose our heat pump failure. They were able to schedule us right away which was fantastic. The tech spent all of 15 minutes at our home and never looked at the unit in the attic. The result of the diagnostic was that there was a leak but they don't know where the leak is. It will be very costly to do a leak test and they recommended replacing the unit. They proposed a Daikin system on par with a Carrier proposal we received from another vendor. Based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend them.

Mr. [member name removed], thank you for the review. It is always helpful to know where and how we can improve our services. We recommended replacement due to your unit being flat on R22 refrigerant and out of warranty even though the unit was only about 10 years old. After 15 years as a factory authorized dealer for Carrier/Bryant we determined that Daikin is similar in quality but stands behind its equipment longer than all the other manufacturers. Carrier has a 10 year part warranty and the installing contractors only offer from 1 to 10 year labor guarantees. We offer a 12 year part and labor guarantee (the longest guarantees in the industry) on all Daikin equipment we install 14 SEER and higher. While the brand name Daikin is not as well know locally they are the largest manufacturer in the world with all there North American equipment manufactured in Texas and Tennessee. Thank you for the opportunity to introduce you to Tuckers A/C. I apologize for not exceeding your expectations.

They are my regular HAVC company. The company went above and beyoned in making sure I was happy with their work and happy with the unit. Particularly, their Field Supervisor Mike K. went WAY beyond what he should of to assure my saisfaction. Greatly appreciated! The tech was polite....covering his shoes with booties before entering the house. He explained everything he was doing, and seemed very knowledgeable. After replacing filters both upstairs and down, he showed us the dirty filters.....which I appreciated, since I like to know filters are replaced when necessary.

I had already tried replacing what I knew how to replace (e.g. fuses, breakers in the circuit panel, transformer), and was frustrated that nothing seemed to work. The technician who came in to diagnose the problem took his time and carefully checked everything (and didn't mind me watching and asking questions while he worked!). He diagnosed a bad control board by reconfiguring and testing and the wires, and sure enough, when I later removed it, I saw that it had been burned out. As far as the technician goes, he provided excellent service and was very responsive and patient with my questions (as opposed to a previous technician who came in and completely freaked out that I had opened the door of my furnace and replaced anything myself). The only problem I had with the company was that they then, in the follow-up call, tried to schedule another service and charge me over $500 to replace the control board, which I knew only cost about $130. They then told me that they'd reduce the fee to $400 if I signed a contract. I refused to do that, got an HVAC technician friend to order me the needed part, and replaced the control board myself for under $150 (which I would have otherwise never attempted to do if I had not had a stellar HVAC technician friend walk me through the process. Electricity scares me, so I was overcautious in dealing with it.). All in all, my experience with Tucker's was not bad, and their diagnostic fee was very reasonable. I just think that their asking price for the replacement of a control board (actually not hard to do if you know a bit about furnaces and take pictures of the configurations before you start pulling things apart) was excessive, especially since it took me about 30 minutes from start to finish to replace that board myself.

In February of 2013, I needed to replace my heat pump. I got quotes from several companies and chose Tuckers. Everyone I interacted with at the company was very easy to deal with, their price was very competitive, and they had excellent reviews on Angie's Llst. The installers arrived promptly and worked all day to get my replacement heat pump installed. The first sign of trouble is when I went to inspect my new air handler and noticed the filter opening had no cover and was just open to the basement. They explained this was so the unit could use standard filters instead of the required custom size. When I complained that the air coming from the vents was noisy, I was told "All the new systems are noisy when they run." Over the summer, the house was cold and clammy and the basement was covered with mildew for the first time in 20 years. This is a sign the air conditioning is not working properly to get rid of the humidity. Since the installation came with one year of maintenance, I called for the first maintenance visit in September, hoping they would be able to adjust the system for me. I told the technician when he came that we were having trouble with noise and poor humidity control and he told me "all the new systems are noisy when they run". When I pointed out where to find the outside unit, he told me he was just there to check the "furnace", but he could look at that too if I wanted. He left me with a hand-written service ticket that said everything was working fine and had been adjusted, including the "flames" in my all-electric system. All during the winter, the heat sounded like I was sitting on an airport runway when it ran. It was so noisy I had to turn up the television when the air came on and I was woken up at night each time it started. Since one of the reasons I chose Tuckers was their 2-year 100% satisfaction guarantee, I thought I would give them another chance to make things right, so I called them to set up an appointment. The phone rolled over to voice-mail so I left a message that I was not happy with the way my heat pump was working and I needed warranty service. I guess that was my mistake, because they did not return my call. After two days, I went on-line and put in a service request, again asking for warranty service. I got an email back saying they got my request and would call me back, but it is has been over a week and I am still haven't heard from them to set up an appointment. Unwilling to spend another cold, clammy summer, I called another AC company that I trusted to give me a second opinion on my new system. They found that the heat pump and auxilliary coils were oversized compared to my previous system and the settings were not optimized for my ductwork. They were able to do a lot to reduce the noise. They are also custom-manufacturing a door for the air filter, which their company includes as a standard part of their installation. I am very sorry I choose Tuckers for this installation. After spending a lot of money, I was expecting a quiet, efficient solution for heating and cooling in my house. Instead, I had to spend more money to fix the problems with the new heat pump they would not help me solve. Therefore, I cannot recommend Tuckers for heat pump installations. Update 10/19/14. I never received that call back from Tucker. I am now saving approximately $90 a month on my electric bill since the other company adjusted the system. I calculate that I more than spent all the money I "saved" going with the lower price.
