First the good - the technicians seemed to know what they are doing, both for HVAC and plumbing. But I found their sale of the annual service contracts to be a very, very bad value. After having the contract, I inquired on 3 things to be done over the course of a year - a dishwasher install (replacing existing), garbage disposal install (replacing existing), and kitchen faucet install . All 3 prices were much, much higher than any provider. For instance, over $300 for a kitchen faucet install (where the customer supplies the faucet! This is ONLY labor). They go off of some sort of piece of paper with flat prices for all services, and this was the "discounted price. Anyone knows a kitchen faucet install is a less than an hour job, and to quote $300+ for a job, especially to a "contract" member, is silly. Now after complaining and the tech calling to get "permission", they did allow billing on an hourly basis, which saved over $100. I found it strange that they needed to seek permission to do this, when common sense would dictate that if a customer wants to be charged hourly, that should be a no-brainer. The quotes for the other two services were equally excessive priced - each one well over $300, and each one just including labor. All 3 of the jobs are less than an hour's work. They either need to scrap the whole piece of paper with flat rates, or greatly, greatly reduce them to be at or better than their hourly rate. It's very strange that their hourly rates come out less than the prices they are "supposed" to charge based off of their sheet of paper.

At our next weekly service meeting, we will discuss better ways of handling situations just like this. The benefit of flat rate is the homeowner knows the price upfront no matter what we run into or how long a repair might take. In this case it sounds like everything went smooth so hourly saved a little less than $100. In just as many cases it takes us longer than quoted so flat rate saves the homeowner money over hourly. It has been our experience, over 20 years in business, that as a whole the consumer would prefer to know the price upfront. This in no way excuses how we handled your specific situation from both a customer service and administrative level. Very prompt and responsive service. I received an over the phone estimate and because my current unit wasn't operating, they were able to get out within a couple of days. The installation guys noted they hadn't personally done many of these units before, but they worked carefully and efficiently and the job was well done. I moved to a B on installation because there were some strange sounds coming from my unit (which haven't been an issue the last few days, but may return when it's colder again) that I flagged for Tuckers, including by sending a video via email, but unfortunately I didn't receive any response/feedback. I was pleased with their company, so I also requested an estimate for my small, basic bathroom renovation. Though the PTAC replacement was very reasonable ($1600 included the unit and sleeve), the bathroom estimate was more than double what I expected and not reasonable for the work required. I'll happily work with tucker again on future heat/ac needs.

The first part of the service went alright. They gave me a 5 hour window in which the technician would arrive. I had to stay at home waiting for him for 5 hours. I Took time off work. He came, bypassed the relay switch(He did not have the part) and told me the part would take 2-3 days to arrive and that they would call to schedule install. I spoke with their office and they too said they would call me once the part came in. 5 business days later I call the company and enquire about what was happening as I had not heard anything from them. They tell me that the part arrived the same morning I called (miraculously). I schedule the install date and again they give me a 5 hour window. I have to take off from work again and wait for them. I get a call sometime in the afternoon telling me that they have had too many emergency calls that day and cannot make it out and will need to reschedule. I go ahead with the reschedule (my mistake to have given them another chance) and this time the person on the phone says that they will come out first thing in the morning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday 8/25/15. I call them on 8/25/15 at 11:00 a.m. as no one has shown up yet and Emily tells me that the technician is just finished up at a previous job as he had got held up there. I don't understand how, if they were coming to my home first thing in the morning their technician ended up going to another job first. Emily apologizes and tells me the technician is on his way and should be at my home shortly. I wait until 12:00 p.m and call Emily at their office again, this time to just ask them not to bother as I have to go to work. I have taken days of work and they have not shown up .They have Not had the courtesy to call and update me on what is happening. I fail to understand how this company has so many A's . I will never recommend or use this company ever in the future. I have lost money by missing day's at work and all this company can say is sorry. This is truly pathetic of them.
Description of Work: They Came in to diagnose what the problem was with my A/C blower unit and bypassed(temporarily, as the technician did not have the part) the relay switch in the blower unit. I paid about $ 140 for about 15 minutes of work($99 for diagnoses & the rest for 1/4 hour labor). The technician said he would have the part ordered and it would take 2-3 days to come in and they would call me to schedule the installation.

After reading your review, I researched why and how things happened so that we can minimize our shortcomings in the future. The original call was set with a 12-5 window (on our afternoon schedule). We do offer a 30 minute call ahead that allows customers the option to meet at the home but not all customers are flexible with there time. At the original call on 8/12, we found a part failed but we were able to get your system operating that same day by wiring the motor to run constant. We quoted, got approval and ordered the part. We were told by our distributor that the part take 2-3 business days to receive. It arrived on 8/18, 4 business days later. It is accurate that we received the part the evening before or the day of your call. We scheduled and postponed the installation of the part due to work load but we knew you had operation. I agree if you had taken off work that is inconvenient but you were courteous enough to accept our request and rescheduled. My notes on the rescheduled date are missing but our morning appointments are scheduled for 8-10 arrival or 10-1 arrival. It appears we had you on our 10-1 schedule. A mistake appears to have been made when inputting the rescheduled service call. We need to do a better job of maintaining contact with you and provide more accurate information. We work very hard on providing great service and I understand that we underachieved in this circumstance. We always use our findings as a training moment at the next weekly meeting. We are highly rated because we are pretty good to perfect the majority of the time. Mike Tucker

Tucker's diagnosed our burned out furnace blower fan and then we coordinated on a replacement furnace. Matt was very helpful and prompt in providing options and suggestions for what we could purchase. After choosing, two technicians (Juan and Dan?) came promptly at the scheduled time and began work immediately. The failed unit was an original from when the house was built so it was not installed very neatly or efficiently. The technicians did an absolutely superb job clearing out the failed unit, cleaning the area, installing the new unit, reconnecting the electronic filter / humidifier / cooling cavity, and then also optimizing the draining pipes from the evaporator tray to the sump pump. On top of that, they redid the electrical wiring around the unit to consolidate and tidy it up to a separate power switch. And lastly, they asked us about our old carbon monoxide detectors and installed two new ones for us. On another note during a test halfway through the installation, noise was heard from the unit and they quickly got to troubleshooting and fixed the issue. It wasn't a quick in and out job (I think roughly a 8~9 hour day) but they definitely made sure everything worked great and looked great too. Highly recommended.

After getting four quotes, determined that Tuckers AC was best value and lowest cost for a high efficiency system that qualified for $1000 MD empower refund. Both my furnace and AC unit are working great and I am very pleased with the experience. Once I accepted their quote, they installed within a week and performed the work quickly and professionally.

The tech showed up and was courteous and professional and completed the job in a timely fashion. Tech was not aware that I had purchased the Angie's List discounted service call rate for $69.00, but got it cleared up. Tech and Tucker's customer service honered 20% off first time service call coupon from Angie's List - saving me over $100. Would recommend, will use again.

Chris came for the service call and correctly diagnosed the problem. Was very professional / punctual. I'd call Tuckers again but they're on the pricey side...
Description of Work: This was a service call. Chris correctly diagnosed that the blower motor in the central fan broke... I would have had it fixed by Tuckers BUT the estimate was $120 more than what another HVAC technician charged...

The reception staff was very courteous, and promptly made an appointment. The technician who came was friendly, knowledgeable, punctual and took time to explain things to me that I should be aware of. Almost a week after the service, my heating unit did not work and when I called the company back, they sent the technician back the same day to address the problem. I was very satisfied with the responsiveness and professionalism.

The service representative arrived on time, and was able to diagnose the problem very quickly. The representative found that the blower fan needed replacement, and was supposed to get back to me with a quote. After not hearing or receiving anything for several days after the representative was here I called Tuckers to see what the hold-up was in getting a quote for the replacement unit. Since it took so long to get the quote, I did some research on my own on blower motors and found that it was more than likely the controller of the motor that had gone bad. I got a quote for a replacement controller for the motor. Several days later I received a quote for replacement of the controller from Tucker, but the quote was 4X what the controller cost. So I ended up replacing the controller module for 25% of the cost of having Tucker do it, and the system is now working perfectly again.

They showed up and looked at my A/C unit. They made their recommendations. They did a decent job. It was not anything spectacular, but the service was okay as it was just an inspection. I said that I would not use them again, but that is not a commentary on their service; just that I would look for other comparison options as well since replacing an A/C unit is a high cost item.

I gave them a B in responsiveness because they failed to adequately educate me on how the whole unit worked and did not make much of an effort to optimize how the already present central humidifier worked in conjunction with new furnace. I thought they could have been a little more res[onsive given that humidifier was not fully functional when coupled to new furnace. This is a relatively small detail. They deserve credit for bringing the new unit up to code given the big structural/topological challenge of getting the exhaust pipe to adequately slant under the outdoor deck. Another competitor said it would've been too difficult to manage. They thought out of the box and came up with an innovative solution.
Description of Work: Tuckers installed a new furnace (Daikin DM96HE1005D). They came for an initial estimate and were less hardsell than the 2 other competitors. They came on day of installment and spent most of the day installing. They threw in a $80 thermostat, took away old unit and tested new unit. After a month of continuous use, no issues. Pretty straight forward really.

The diagnostics check went fine and the technician was professional. The technician indicated that I needed 3lbs of freon which would cost me over $500. The technician claimed that they don't make any money on the freon. This price was ridiculous so I declined any additional service. I called another HVAC company and a technician came out. This technician indicated that my unit only holds 2lbs of freon so there was no way that it needed 3lbs. Additionally, the price was less than half of what Tucker wanted to charge. I will not use them again as I don't appreciate someone trying to scam me.

Thank you for your time in responding to our service. I'm sorry we miss communicated our pricing structure. When a system is basically flat on refrigerant we quote the refrigerant charge along with a leak search. It was the added leak search that was taking our charge higher than the company that added the refrigerant for you without identifying the leak. There is a perception that by adding the necessary refrigerant the system has been repaired. In fact a system should never lose its refrigerant. Please monitor your system over the coming year. It went great. Two different technicians came and did a thorough assessment and fixed both problems.
Description of Work: Had to rewire an AC unit and replace the coil on another unit. They had the part in a few days and were able to come out and replace it quickly and replace the coolant.

One of my HVAC units was not working after 5 visits and over $2k in repair services from another company. The other HVAC was making a loud clanging sound, all the time. Tech was very knowledgeable and confirmed some of the issues I had with the prior company's work. The Tech also described what was causing the clanging sound (which happened to be a rather easy fix). What would have been great from a customer service perspective is if the Tech fixed it for me anyway since it was easy. Nonetheless, I would definitely use them again.
