The provider called the night before to give us a window of time, and also indicated where we were on the list within that window, so it helped knowing that. The technician called 15 min. in advance to say he would be arriving and he was on time. He covered his shoes and worked quietly and efficiently inside and outside the house. As stated above, he reviewed the check up list with me and explained in detail and what to look out for in the future.We are now thinking of signing up for a yearly service from this provider.
Description of Work: The provider checked out our furnace and AC unit. He went down a list of criteria and evaluated each one. Some were subjective, but some were objective measurements. He also explained what are common problems and when they needed to be addressed as well as when people don't address them that it ends up costing more down the line. Upon my prompting, he explained their service contract as well. They changed the filter as well.

The whole process went very well. The office staff and technician were very professional in all aspects. They called on the day of service to ask if they could come earlier than planned which was great for me. I would definitely use them again.

Our a/c wasn't working, so we called Tuckers since they were close to our house. Made an appointment for the first part of the day. They arrived on time, were able to fix the capacitor that was broken on our heat pump and got our A/C working fine. Would definitely use them again!

No issues with HVAC maintenance service. Would give them an A for that. With the hot water heater installation, they have been lax in filing permit paperwork and I had to call them frequently to remind them. After my insistence, permit paper work was sent and problems with installation were found by the county inspector. They were not prompt in fixing this and I am frustrated by their unproffesionalism about the permit process and fixing problems. 6 months after installation, the process is still incomplete.
Description of Work: Tucker's replaced our aging water heater. They also did heating a/c maintenance for us this year.

The service technician arrived right on time. He came prepared with all equipment necessary to do the service, including an 8-foot ladder to get into the attic (many technicians only bring a 6-foot ladder, making it difficult to access the attic without making a mess). He wore bags over his shoes when in the house to keep from tracking dirt in from the outside. He clearly described the parts that should be replaced and the rationale and cost for replacing them. He also pointed out that my current units were near their end-of-life and wasting a lot of energy, without being pushy about replacing them right now. An excellent experience all around.
Description of Work: Annual maintenance on two air-conditioning units.

We had used Tuckers about 2-3 years ago. We remembered their professional manner so we called them after another company said they didn't service our area. They still have excellent customer service. They arrived on time for all appointments. The first technician diagnosed that it would be best to replace our system. The crew who did the install arrived on time, worked hard all day and cleaned up afterwards. Their service was exactly as it was the first and we will continue to use them in future.

Tuckers made a great first impression - I would definitely call them again. The house call was very convenient - they give a 5-hour window, then also call half an hour in advance of the tech's actual arrival, allowing customers to make most efficient use of their morning or afternoon. The tech came right when he said he would. Then, when my coupon turned out not to be applicable for the very simple fix I needed, the tech suggested that I go on the company's website to get an even better coupon, and waited while I found it and printed it out! That, to me, is customer service. I can't speak to their conduct during an actual repair, but what I saw was very promising, and I would certainly call them in the future.

I'm in LOVE with Tuckers! I had water leaking from my furnace as a result of very poor air duct work by another company (discussed in detail in another review on this site), which resulted in a clog in the drainage pipe. The result was what seemed like 3 gallons of water in my hallway and into my carpet. Although I spoke with another AC company after hours on the night of the emergency and they promised to call me first thing the following day to set up an appointment for service, I never heard back from them. After reading many reviews, I decided to call Tuckers as soon as they opened at 7:30am (they actually answered the phone at 7:23!) and was greeted by a very cordial young woman who actually expressed empathy for my water problems. She said someone would be at my home between 12-5pm and the technician, James, actually arrived at 3:00, two hours earlier than I expected! He was very nice and had no problem putting on shoe covers when I asked. He immediately zeroed in on the cause of the water leakage and took care of the problem is about 15 minutes. Although I have a nearly 20-year-old AC unit, much to my surprise, he made no attempt to sell me on a new unit. He simply noted that I might want to consider that in the near future, but did not in any way push me into buying something I wasn't ready to purchase. When I mentioned that I wasn't getting cold air from the AC and asked if he might have time to service the unit, he was a bit crusty and said they were only working on emergencies, as many of their customers had been without AC for several days. Although I completely understood, I was admittedly disappointed, as it was pretty darn hot in my condo without AC for 18 hours since I'd shut off the unit the night before. Well, much to my surprise, James was not nearly as crusty as I though and turned out to be a softie! Although he pretended he really didn't have the time and/or probably couldn't gain access, he offered to go up on the roof and check on my unit. I think when I told him I'd not had the unit serviced in 10 years, it blew his mind and he took pitty on a poor, defensely female! Long story short, he actually added the freon and charged me a little less than he should have. He also accepted the 20% coupon listed for Angie's List members. I even ended up purchasing a service agreement with Tuckers because their technician completely gained my trust --- something that's not easy to do --- by not trying in any way to rip me off. He didn't even try to pursuade me to purchase the service agreement and I could have saved almost $100, but decided to buy it anyway. What a wonderful experience to do business with a company that actually seems to care more about serving the individual than just making as much moolah as possible!!! January 2013 -- I'm much LESS in love with this company due to a lack of professional courtesy on the part of the owner/manger. A serviceman came to my home in January to perform a "free" winter inspection. At that point, I found out that the money I'd spent for my annual contract DID NOT COVER the suggested work -- and, like a mechanic, there's always "suggested" work. Anyway, this isn't what annoyed me. The workman was pleasant enough, as was the woman I spoke with on the phone. I am very annoyed by the fact that I called and asked that the owner or whoever is in charge please call me back because I had a question about the contract (i.e., why does it actually NOT COVER a FULL YEAR??). I just wanted to know. I was assured that someone would call me back ASAP. Now, nearly six months later, these people don't even had the common decency to return a call. What are they afraid of? I just had a question. I also just received an "invoice" in the mail for $179.00. There's no enclosed letter, no explanation whatsoever. I'm assuming this is the cost to continue my annual contract, however, it would be better (and again, more professional) if Tuckers could spent an extra dime on adding a brief letter to the invoice (like thanking their customers for BEING their customers and asking for out business -- taking this for granted in a competitive market is very arrogant and foolish), instead of making it appear that I owe them something. Small gestures go a long way and I'm very disappointed that Tuckers doesn't seem to know this. Wish I could have dealt with the original serviceman, James, who was great.

Everything went very smoothly from beginning to end. The person we spoke to on the phone schedule a technician and they came right on time and finished the work within an hour. The price was in line with what we thought it should cost and was under $500. We were very pleased with the service.
Description of Work: We called Tucker along with a bunch of other HVAC contractors after we discovered our AC unit was not cooling. Unfortunately we discovered this on a VERY hot day and right after a large storm so many contractors were not available to come quickly. Tucker sent a technician by 10:00 am the same day we called and we had cool air blowing within an hour. They replaced a part in our unit quickly and efficiently.

They're excellent. We one time had an issue where the AC wouldn't turn on. They tried to see if they could fix the problem on the phone rather than come out. They walked us through the process.

The problem Tucker's saw was correct, my cooling coil had a leak, yet their solution was both extraordinary & incorrect. They required a complete replacement of my entire AC / heater, requiring to cut dry wall, the price somewhere in the park of $6000 & $8000. The exact amount was never given because later in the day Tucker's called to say THEY did not want to work on my 6 story building's roof. They "dumped me', as a teenager would say. I was disappointed until a called a 2nd AC company who are now all set up to repair, not replace, my system & have given us enough refrigerant to keep our home cool until the work is done in few days. The price they gave $800, not the $8000+/- Tucker's would cost. To boot, the Tucker's salesman was both impolite and unprepared. He knew he would require looking at the compressor on the roof of my building, yet came with no ladder. While waiting for his colleague to bring one, he spent most of the time complaining about his back pain and would get annoyed when I asked questions, offering mediocre answers. I will never recommend Tuckers to anybody. In fact I would advise against.
Description of Work: This weekend my AC / Heater was on yet offered no air. Monday morning I called 'Tuckers AC & Heating', who were prompt in their coming to look at my system and next send a salesman to discuss my options a few hours later.

Both contractors bid essentially the same system. We chose the other contractor, Michael Bonsby Heating and A/C, because their cost to us was $6,174, net of a $1,100 rebate we are to receive from Montgomery County. The system was installed on 3-4 January 2012 and we are very pleased with it and the service provided by Bonsby. See the report we filed on Bonsby. Tuckers bid $8,392 on the same basis, more than $2 thousand more than Bonsby's bid. We got the impression that Tuckers was very busy. (We had to wait several days for their proposal) Nonetheless, Tuckers rep and the proposal suggested their reputattion for competence is well deserved. We would certainlly include them on a bidders list.
Description of Work: This was one of two contractors from whom we obtained very sound proposals to install a ductless split air conditioning system.

Tanner Piantedosi was highly responsive and knowledgeable and committed to the job helping us through the many rebate processes involved in selecting the equipment to be installed. The technicians were thorough, neat, punctual and knowlegeable in their installation work. I recommend them highly and continue to use them for maintenance of the system.

I first checked Angie's List then did a county consumer protection check of the ones I was interested in trying out. Called Tucker's a little after 8am & left message on emergency phone line. I was anxious to get someone out & didn't know the turnaround time for emergency calls so after 1 hr I called again & got someone on the phone. They were able to give me an appointment this afternoon & provided a 4 hr window. I was told up front about their diagnostic fee & that they charge by job not hourly. The entire process was fairly painless & everyone was courteous.I let them know I was an Angie's List member. Within a couple hours I received a call from the office. They had a technician who was finishing up a call & would be able to come by if I was available which was wonderful. He showed up a llittle after 10:30am. He too was polite & professional, appeared knowledgable & had 2 other attributes which makes a good company rise to the top of the list - he was considerate & efficient. I also sensed no attitude when I mentioned the Angie's List coupon to both the office & the technician. I was impressed enough by my experience that I brought up additional needs & concerns. This is something else I appreciated. He didn't push to sell something although after I brought things up he did say he was going to discuss their other services. I decided to try their USA Club Agreement. The agreement is renewed yearly so the investment to try them out was reasonable. He found a prior repair that concerned him so he re-connected the wire. He did a surface cleaning, checked the thermostat & changed my filter. I look forward to working with in the future & hope this good experience is just the first of many more to come.

I have a contract with them, and they have lived up to their service contract. I had a leak. I had a drain pipe that was attached to my air conditioning system in my attic backup, and the drain and pipe were blocked. I had a big flood as a result, and they fixed it free of charge. It was real hot; it was about 99 degrees here. They were supposed to have cleaned the drain pipe and everything else, and they did do it, but somehow it was blocked, so they cleaned it out. They checked the whole system to make sure it was working properly. They were very responsive. I would rate them highly.

On 5/31/2011 at 7:30 AM, my AC as well as my entire HVAC system acutely shut down. I attempted to trouble shoot the problem by checking the fuse box, the E-Z trap, cleaned and flushed the E-Z trap, checked the thermostat function, etc. The temperature inside my condo had risen from 72 degrees to 76 degrees within one hour. I have had a service contract with Tuckers AC and Heating for 2 years and have always been satisfied with their outstanding service. I called Tuckers and the receptionist assured me they would be able to send a technician either in the late afternoon or early evening. I was asked to describe my problem to one of the owners, Steve Tucker. I have spoken to Steve on the phone many times and he is always so patient as I describe my problem. Steve told me a technician would definitely be able to come to my home today. This was a very hot day with the max temperature expecting to rise to close to 100 degrees. Since I was at work, I requested a 30 to 60 minute warning so I could leave and head for home to meet the technician. Tuckers called me at 3PM and told me a technician (David) was on his way and would be at my home within 20 to 30 minutes. David was patiently waiting for me when I arrived home. David was so patient, professional, neat, clean, very careful and detail oriented as he performed a diagnostic evaluation. David explained every step to me. David noted the motor turn on/off switch to be cracked with a piece broken off. Fortunately the broken piece was found and reinserted by David. David then thoroughly tested the system as well as the outside compressor to ensure adequate freon. My AC was back on line and cool air began flowing throughout my home. Since I have a service contract with Tuckers, there was no charge for the diagnostic evaluation. Fortunately, no repair of my system was needed. I do have an pre-existing slow freon leak due to rusted evaporator coils which will be replaced next week. Tuckers AC and Heating is a wonderful company which takes great pride in their staff and their service. I recommend this company without hesitation. I have dealt with two of their technicians, David and Miquel and they are both superb professionals! Thank you Tuckers for a job well done!

First heat wave of the season, new customer, and a holiday weekend. Not only did they call me back within 30 minutes of leaving a message on the after-hours line but they also setup an appt to come to my house same day. Thank you Carla! Other places were telling me it would be up to 10days before being seen or were too busy to even call me back. The tech arrived sooner than the original estimated time which was a pleasant bonus. The tech was clean, efficient and gave honest subjective information. Thank you Zack! The company advertised a 20% off first repair coupon through Angies List. The tech who came to my house was unfamiliar with this coupon, however he said he would hold off on charging my credit card until the owner was back in the office during the normal work weekend. I got a phone call during the first business day and they did give me the discount. I know I have a big project coming up to replace my HVAC system and as of right now, I plan to go with them.
Description of Work: My outdoor A/C unit was working with the exception of cold air coming out of my vents. The tech and I determined the problem and he was honest about what my 3 options were. My unit was completely out of refridgerant, which I had guessed going into this. Option 1 was to refill the refridgerant and see what happens. Option 2 was to do a leak check and fix any leaks; this option would have run upwards of $1500 or more. Option 3 was to replace the unit. My unit is almost 20 years old and my indoor unit is even older. I went with Option 1 knowing that by next summer I will have to replace both indoor and outdoor units. Buy myself time to save for the big job. The tech was honest and did not push one option more than any other and was very helpful with all my questions. It was also a very busy, hot, holiday weekend for the company but the tech spent quality time at my house and did not rush to try to get as many jobs done as possible.
