Tuckers AC, Heating & Plumbing

Because my heat pump was dead, they shoe-horned me into the schedule. Very responsive. Jody was the tech and he listened to my tale of woe with this 12 year old Carrier (system is on its third compressor fan motor in 3 years) and then looked at the system. The last time I fixed it myself (my previous provider was too expensive) - and with one look he realized the problem. Unfortunately, my replacement motor had slightly different specs and I just installed it and retrofit it to use the old dual capacitor. One year later that overworked capacitor simply blew out. He replaced it with one for the compressor (a $200 part) and a second properly sized one for the motor itself ($15). I used an Angies list coupon, and he was very reasonable on the parts (all of which have big markups - even on Amazon.com). All told, 30-40 minute service call. Very professional, and he even refrained from calling me an idiot (at least in front of me). I will highly recommend them to anyone who asks.

Technician did not show up on schedules day. I have to Call them next day to reschedule. Technician arrived on time and was Very professionally check my heating and AC system. Satisfy with the service and Will use them again next year.

The tech from Tuckker came out as promised. He called ahead to let us know he was about 15 mins away. He performed a check on the system and it was a simple repair.

Tuckers was excellent in all regards. The office staff was very polite and friendly, they scheduled a tech to come out same-day to look at our unit. They called to give me an approximate 30 minute heads up that he was coming, and when I had to leave briefly to pick up my kids they didn't reschedule for another day, they accommodated me on the spot and had him delay slightly. When I arrived home with the kids he'd arrived a few minutes ahead of me and completed an outside inspection, id'd the issue, and made the fix (for a low dollar amount I was OK with him doing the fix without calling me first - for a higher amount, I would have requested that they call prior to doing any work). The tech was extremely polite and patient as I got my kids settled (and he was very kind with them too), he then explained everything, was very low pressure in recommending an annual maintenance contract, and was out the door after the payment transaction. I would use them again in a heartbeat, and recommend them highly.

We had great experience with them. Originally we bought the equipment from some other company but their service was very bad and they've been out so many then we just got really frustrated. And we didn't realize that it was under warranty and they probably couldn't have told us and just replaced the whole thing and just not told us that the actual stuff was under warranty. So, what they charged us was just the installation. The guy that came out also let us borrow a room air-conditioner he had for couple of days and then when we installed the air-conditioning he took it back. It was fixed and hasn't given us any trouble yet.

Provider arrived on time and I was very happy with the service

They found an actual bug (insect) in between the power connection outside. They remove the bug and reseeded the power device and we were fine. They could have easily said we had to replace some expensive part and then charged us labor to replace it. They were very honest and I will use them for my preventive service going forward. My old heating and cooling company said they could fit me in in about a month. Even though I had been with them for over 10 years. And they knew my A/C was down in August. Tuckers were very responsive and made room to fit me in the next day day.

It went OK. They checked the units and told us that we needed more Puron. In addition, they suggested that the AC motor was leaking and suggested a $500 repair.

The refill did not take more than 15 minutes and the AC started to slowly work after he left. However, less than two weeks later, the cooling has completely stopped. The AC is pumping out only warm air and not cooling the house. We paid $554 for less than two weeks of cooling. Three years ago we had paid $163. We feel completely cheated and unless Tucker comes and offers us a free makeover, we will never use them again. Caveat emptor for folks who might consider buying this service.

Representative was professional. Looked at all 4 units (inside and outside components of both units), said freon was quite low in one unit. Arranged to have technician come back out to do more tests. Technician came, said there was most likely a leak in the unit - it cost almost $300 to have the unit tested for a leak. Then it got to parts I'm a little skeptical about. He could put a certain amount of freon in the system, but he was limited by law as to how much he could put in. If we added freon now we could never get more freon put in it because the maximum amount per law is based on the unit itself and not the individual service call. He said if we did the leak test and found out that the leak was in the coil we would have to replace the whole system because it was also unlawful to fix the coils. (These laws have to do with the fact that they are trying to get rid of units that use freon. Our system is 10 years old, 10 SEER and uses freon.) We opted to have the maximum amount of freon put in and he included it because we were going to have a meeting with the sales team about replacing the unit. We were content with that. BTW, I have talked to some other homeowners who have said they have been told similar things by AC repair people. However, I have also talked to a homeowner who has a system much older than mine and has a Home Warranty and when their unit broke down earlier this summer they just replaced the coil. So the Home Warranty people found a way to do the repair in the cheapest way possible. On the surface, it seems to be a matter of what is in the best interest of the company you have called to service your AC. So to sum it up, I was okay with Tuckers. The sales rep was very nice and did not pressure us at all. But, bottom line, I will definitely get more opinions and quotes before I buy any new units - as I do with any home repair (after all why do we belong to Angie's List!). We have decided to postpone our decision until Spring.

We were selling our house and the buyers had some concerns about the furnace & ventilation. Chris came out on time, reviewed and took pictures, consulted with his builder, and came out again to make some minor repairs. He left great documentation and showed me a few things i could do on my own to save some money. Would absolutely recommend Chris and Tucker's.

Service tech arrived on time and found the Pepco recycle control causing problem with unit. Tech disconnected and unit ran like normal. Suggested replacing the contactor and to chemically clean coil. I agreed to have both done with a purchase of a service contract to receive a discount. In the end I spent more then I wanted but now have a clean, better cooling and working AC unit. I also will have the heating system checked this fall with the paid service contract.

Although they were clearly overwhelmed with requests, Tucker's was able to send a technician the same day I called. He quickly diagnosed the problem, fixed it and gave me excellent advice on things to be aware of down the road regarding the life of the A/C unit. Very professional and personable technician.

Tucker A/C was extremely professional from start to finish. Upon purchasing the service via online special, I was immediately contacted to schedule the appointment. The service tech showed up on time and performed the work as described.

The technician who arrived was personable, knowledgeable, and communicative -- very professional. The company called 20 or so minutes ahead to say he was coming and he arrived shortly thereafter. He provided all the detailed diagnostic information to me as he worked. Very informative. The temporary repair succeeded in providing cool air, and the tech made recommendations on a new product and brand and offered a service contract and sales team to come to explain their product. Very good, impressive experience.

I was impressed with this company all around. The woman answering the phone was responsive and knowledgeable. The technicians showed up on time, seemed knowledgeable and finished on time. The quote was less than another company with an A on Angie's. And this company did not seem anxious to sell me more stuff. Overall, I felt they were honest and reliable.

The deal worked out fine They did a tune up on my AC unit and did an inspection on my furnace. I used them again to get some advice on a furnace issue I was having also.

It was a hot summer day and the A/C stopped working. It was hard to find someone to come out and take a look at this time. I called around and Tucker's was able to come out in 2 days to take a look whereas other companies were a week out or more. The technician was very unprofessional and unfriendly and is was if I was wasting his time. I had an appointment at 9:00am and the tech arrived at 9:00am but then sat in his truck for a half an hour joking around on the phone. When he finally took a look at the air conditioner outside, he went to his truck and got a part, and he put in the capacitor. Then he was just sitting there in front of the a/c unit. I asked him what was wrong, and he said that it takes a little while for the A/C to turn on. I informed him, the A/C was turned off. He could've just said, he was done fixing it and that he needed to test out the A/C. Then he went to his truck and came back with a bill for $359. I had a coupon from their website and took it down to $319. At the time, this was my first capacitor replacement on an A/C unit, after some research I found out I got ripped off. I called the office to talk to the manager about the professionalism of his employee and that I was disappointed in the service, but he was always in "meetings." There are alot more A/C companies out there so make an educated decision of which company you want to use.

A/C went out on the weekend. Tuckers was able to come out on a Sunday morning. They analyzed the problem and recommended that we would need a new circuit board. The old one was causing the system to short out whenever it started up. They did not have the part, but were able to do a temporary repair that allowed the system to work until they could get the part. They came back 2 days later and the repair wasn't as extensive as originally estimated. The repair ended up costing $464 instead of the original estimate of $600. They also let us know about the general condition of our system and when we could expect to need to replace it. They were very professional and prompt with both the initial visit and the final repairs. We would definitely use them again.

The service tech came and was professional. I did some checking of the system and told me that I had a bad " thing a ma gig"....some electrical part in the AC outside unit. I somehow felt set up for this. not sure if I needed it or was I being hustled. Do not know

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. So far, it's working. I think I got a good price, I really don't know for sure but I checked different places. The salesman was very personable, I liked him and the technicians that were here spent about 7 hours putting it in and they seemed very competent. I got a quote from Sears on the Sears brand which is Carrier or Kenmore. The original quote from Tucker was about $6000 and then I got 2 more quotes, the one from Sears was $800-900 cheaper and Tucker matched that and they came down about $800 off of their original quote. I did spend several hours on the internet and I called some other people that were on Angie's List that I didn't bother to follow up with. One of the things that sold me on it was that on the original quote I got from Tucker, I had a 2-year labor and 10-year parts warranty and I got that increased to 10 years labor and 10 years parts, that was probably the biggest selling point.

They were punctual and polite. They were quick and seemed to know what they're doing.
