I had hired KK Hardwood Floors to refinish the floors in a home I just bought. I was pleased that they also offer painting services, and hired them to do both jobs. The work on the floors is reviewed elsewhere. This review is about the painting. The job was pretty simple--I provided the paint, they did the work. I only asked them to paint the walls, not the trim, which had recently been painted. The crew showed up as agreed and was able to complete the work in one day. They did a very nice job and were tidy about the work (I did find a little paint on the shower curtain in the bathroom, where they must have cleaned their brushes, but not bad). With such a small and straightforward piece of work it's hard to say too much--it was a good experience and I would hire them again for similar work!

I bought an apartment that had relatively new prefinished hardwood floors. I hired KK to strip them, stain them darker, and refinish them. Rudy was very responsive from my very first email, provided a clear estimate, and was able to schedule the work for when I wanted it done. The crew arrived right on time on the agreed-upon date and ready to get to work. As is sometimes the case with this kind of work, there was a slight language barrier with the workmen, but we seemed to be able to make ourselves understood. (Rudy was not on the job site--his brother Jimmy ran the crew.) The work on the floors took one day longer than expected, but that is because the finish on prefinished floors is very hard to sand off. The crew did a beautiful job--no marks from the sander whatsoever. They also did a very good job staining evenly in the color I chose. (I ultimately wished I had gone a shade darker, but that is not their fault!). They applied a satin finish that was also done beautifully. My only complaint was that the workmen were sloppy. They apparently put cans of stain down on the windowsills while they were working, so there were brown stains on the sills when I went over to check out the work. Having said that, when I reported the problem to KK, they responded immediately and when they came back to do additional work (I had also hired them to do some painting--though not originally of the windowsills), they cleaned up all the stains. KK's estimate was more than some of the other estimates I got ($3/sf instead of $2/sf for staining and refinishing), but I learned the hard way on a past floor job that you get what you pay for. This work was well worth the cost, and Rudy's responsiveness and flexibility made this a hassle free job. I would work with KK again and would recommend them.

Patrick at K & K worked with me to order and schedule installation, and did a great job. He and his installers were courteous, professional, punctual, and easy to communicate with. I especially appreciated that Patrick stayed in touch with me via email. They did a great job and I would use them again.

Rudy responded on time and was readily available during the process. The workers were on the job as scheduled and worked diligently to get the work done on schedule and on budget. They were able to restore hardwood floors that another contractor said needed to be replaced. The floors look great, the paint job went well and they were able to work around the plumber who took longer than expected to complete their work. All were knowledgeable, friendly and very polite. I will use them for future similar projects.

Rudy and the guys at KK Hardwood were fantastic. They were very professional and communicated through the entire process. They did a fantastic job on the floors, and while some dust and mess is inevitable, it was very minimal. Their estimate was right on the money. I would definately use them again on my floors!

They came quickly, did the estimate. I got to others, they were in the middle and seemed the most professional. Work was scheduled and done on time. I think this is standard but it is no fun when you are refinishing your floors. You have to move all furniture and stay off the floors for a week. They did a good job cocooning kitchen cabinets and living areas with plastic to try to prevent the small wood particles from getting everywhere. It worked pretty well, plus they have big vacuum bags on the sanders. I do love my floors!

The service was pretty good. My wife was happy with it and she was satisfied. The colors didn’t match but it was close enough. So it was a pretty good job.

All providers should be as good as KK -- knowledgeable, courteous, prompt, and providing top-quality work. They stripped and sanded the floor, replaced some damaged boards, and matched the new kitchen finish to the color of the adjacent dining room floor perfectly. Their customer service was amazing. At one point, it looked like there was a rough patch in the finish, and I knew it would be a problem to try to fix it so far into the process. I raised it anyway, fully expecting the guy to roll his eyes and say it really couldn?t be done. To my great surprise, and their credit, he looked carefully at the spot I was pointing out, then suggested we wait until it dried and he would see what could be done. In short, he took my concern seriously and said he would do what was needed to fix it. As it turned out, the light was reflecting off an odd spot in the wood ? it wasn?t the refinishing job at all. Still, he worked on the wood a bit, and made it better. I would definitely recommend KK!

We have been quite impressed with the work of Rucy and his crews at KK Hardware. Both the floorwork and the railings were excellent quality. What was as important to us was the quality workmanship and professional attitude of Rudy and his team. Their work was meticulous, intelligent and conscientious. They dealt with every technical problem that came up with skill and thoroughness. They were impressive in their concern for keeping the rest of the house clean during the work, and carefully cleaned up afterwards. We found them honest, candid and sincere. We would be happy to work with them again in the future.

We had a really positive experience. All of the guys who were part of the job (those that moved furniture, cut the new wood, sanded the old wood, and stained all of the wood) were very professional. They took care to clean up after themselves (and sanding is a messy job, so that is not an easy task), and, most importantly, they did a fantastic job. We are really pleased with the results-- they matched our old wood, with the new wood in the adjacent room, completely seamlessly, and the edge work around our fireplace and into our kitchen is 10 times better than I found Rudy (the owner) to be very hands-on, and felt very confident that he was going to make sure the job was done well and as discussed. He was realistic in setting expectations, and was fair with pricing. While he was not the lowest price quote we received for the job, we felt that he was honest and forthright regarding what labor would be involved, and he provided reasonable estimates for the custom edge work we requested, and then stayed within those parameters (even a bit under). I would recommend Rudy and his team without any reservations to those looking for quality hardwood work!

The owner Rudy came to my house the same day I called him and provided me with a quote a couple of days later. All of the reviews I read before were accurate. They are very professional and responsive. In my case, they actually finished a couple of days ahead of schedule. Having the same company paint, redo the floors and install the handrail was very helpful because I didn't have to coordinate anything. Rudy and Edgar (the painter) provided high quality work with any eye toward detail. You get what you pay for and KK is not cheap. During the project, I added a couple of things, which added considerably to the price. The extras seemed to come with a premium. I had to remind Rudy a couple of times about he Angie's List discount and while he did eventually apply it, it came with a couple of caveats (only labor, not to any of the extras). I gave him a C on responsiveness because I subsequently asked him for a quote for the upstairs, including carpet installation, which he offers. I had to ask him a number of times and when it finally arrived it was incomplete and more expensive. Nevertheless, he knows his stuff, especially with the handrail. I'm glad I used this company and took his suggestions regarding design.

We were very impressed with the professionalism of Rudy's team. They showed up on time daily and immediately got to work. They were very careful in sealing up our kitchen cabinets, etc., and they were immaculate in their cleanup up of dust and debris every day. We are glad that we did not pay extra for dust free because with their extensive sealing off of cabinets, etc., the cleanup was minimal once the job was completed. KK did a fantastic job on the floors and they look wonderful. We feel like we are in a new house. The new handrails, ballisters, and post look fantastic. I have had bad experiences in the past with hardwood floor refinishing where the contractor does not complete the final coat of poly and some of the toe boards were not nailed in. Not the case with KK - they performed all of the work they said they would do timely and professionally. Rudy was very responsive to any questions that we had and I would not hesitate to recommend or use KK again in the future.

We just moved into a new house. The main level is just over 1500sq ft. Overall the floors were in very good shape except for one section that had some previous water damage. This section was roughly 120sq ft. We got three separate quotes from other floor companies to refinish the floors and repair the section that had water damage. The other two companies both said they could not repair the water damaged section without sanding and restaining the entire main level of 1500sq ft. Which would have substantially increased the cost and not to mention the dust all over the house. One of the larger companies we interviewed was very matter of fact in their approach and did NOT convey the same genuine passion for their trade as KK Hardwood Floors. The work was done as promised by KK Hardwood Floors and their pricing was fair for the scope of work performed. We were amazed that KK was able to repair the water damaged section without leaving a trace of the repair behind. IT WAS LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED! From the moment we spoke with Rudy he impressed us. He always answered his phone both before and after we gave him the job. He took the time to explain his company?s process in detail and he was extremely well versed in the repairing and maintaining of hardwood floors. Rudy took great care to really study our floors and recommend the best way to go about repairing. He understood we wanted this done right the first time! I cannot express how happy we were with the results. We highly recommend KK Hardwood Floors and I will most certainly use them again in the future. Thank you KK Floors.

Rudy's team removed the banister early in the process(they were also doing painting and floor refinishing at the same time), and they sanded and stained it off-sit. The banister itself was taken apart in 3 pieces, and epoxied back together quite exactly so that it looks more like a single piece of wood than it had in its previous state. All the vertical wooden slats that run from the banister to the stairs were also removed and repainted white. Then the entire apparatus was reinstalled. Now, the banister is solid as a rock, and looks gorgeous with its fresh stain.

Rudy's team was excellent. They worked very hard for several days scraping and prepping the walls and doors before any painting was done. They repaired imperfections, and their painting was great. They made my renovation work look great, and I will certainly use them again on my future renovations.

It is absolutely beautiful. It is also very sturdy and I am sure it will hold up well over time. The team did an amazing job on it, with top-notch craftsmanship. Will use KK in the future.

Outstanding. The floors couldnt look any better. My favorite part is the flush-mounted wood register that they put in place of the old clunky metal register that was there. Top notch!

Rudy and his brother Jimmy did a wonderful job. Rudy appears to be very particular about how the job is done, he wants his customers to have a quality result. They came the first days and worked hard to Sand and remove old baseboards and 3/4 round. They did a great job, were fast and efficient. The first coat went on by the evening. They came back the next two days two put on the additional coats then hang the new 3/4 round and Baseboards. The Floors look amazing. Great Work. They weren't the lowest cost bidder but I felt more confident working with them and willing to pay a little extra for quality work.

I was looking at several companies and at several different floor styles and KK was willing and able to look up specific brands and wood types for me and provide pricing. This made it very easy for me to compare apples to apples. I would recommend them to be one of the companies you use during your search.

My experience was pretty good. We had some minor issues but I think they still did a good job. In general, they were professional with their quote and their performance. They did some things with the electrical that I wasn't there to see that raised some flags for our insurance who happened to be there inspecting, so that was an issue. When the floor was done, we were supposed to get white oak quarter-round and they ordered regular instead and painted it, but they did a sloppy job so we are going to have to paint it over again.

They had some issues doing something with the electrical equipment that raised a flag with our insurance adjusters who happened to be there inspecting. So that was an issue also when the floors were done we were supposed to get white oak quarter around and they ordered regular instead and they painted it. They did a floppy job in painting it so we are going to repaint it.

See above.... They were overpriced and unprofessional in asking if other estimates were being investigated--who the other companies were and what their estimates were. I would not use KK Flooring.

KK Hardwood did an excellent job and we intend to hire them again. Rudy and Jimmy were great to work with. Their work was excellent, and we love our new floors. Before the job, Rudy provided us with a flat rate quote on most aspects of the job, which we found fair, and which was ultimately invoiced at the end of the work. Rudy let us know up front a particular aspect of the work -- cleaning up the subfloor and joists in the kitchen after taking up the old floor -- that might end up costing more on an hourly basis. When it turned out the the additional work would be called for, Rudy called us right away and provided an estimate for the new work before getting started on it, and the estimate ultimately proved accurate. We're really happy we agreed to the extra work, because some of the joists under the old floors were in poor shape and parts of the floor sagged a bit, but now our new floors are perfectly level. Rudy and Jimmy were very receptive to questions and special requests. They helped us move around and replace some of our heavier furniture. They also took terrific care of the antique doors in the house, that, but for the special attention, would have otherwise scraped against the new, slightly higher, flooring. Our pets contributed to some minor logistical issues here and there, and Jimmy and his team were very accommodating. The job also necessitated some ancillary plumbing work (removing and replacing radiators and appliances), and KK Hardwood made working with the plumbers much easier. Even though part of the flooring job turned out to be bigger than anticipated, Jimmy and his team managed to stay on schedule, so that the plumbing could proceed as planned, but were understanding when the plumbers asked to postpone and reschedule their work because of a scheduling error on their end. Jimmy and his team completed the job on schedule, and we're really happy with the results. They were also pleasant, courteous, and tidy. We definitely would hire KK Hardwood again for any future flooring or carpentry needs, and would recommend them to others.

I liked the person I made the deal with at KK Hardwood Floors, LLC but he did not follow up. It was an extensive job and I think that he should have come and taken a look at it. Also, they wanted to do the whole job in one day and at the end they were rushing like crazy so they left some glue on the floor, etc. KK Hardwood Floors was okay but I wouldn't say they were great. Their price was lower than some of the better rated providers and they came on time.
