They gave me a day that they would come (morning). I took the day off, I called them and they said they couldn't come that day. I told them that they are going to come that day. I will admit that the people that care were nice, but it was highly stressful.

The installers came, removed old door, they showed us where the damage was done by carpenter ants, they removed the rotted wood, replaced it, put new door. Looks great. They also cleaned up all the junk, swept the area around where they worked clean. There was a lasy Charlene (I think) that worked with my wife to choose the right color for the side panels so it matches the door. Definitely Home Depot is a very professional service, will definitely consider them again for other home needs.

The delivery didn't cost anything, and the stove was on sale. The guy who sold me the house had a problem with the stove, so he put down $500 down at Home Depot. I came here and they gave me $500 towards the stove I picked out. It was easy and no hassle. The selection was good.

Last week, we entered the Route 40 store looking to purchase a new bathroom vanity, top for the vanity, faucet and a new medicine cabinet. We were greeted by an employee and directed to an area close to where the bathroom vanities were displayed. There were NO employees around so we looked at the displays until someone walked by. We approached the employee, asked him some questions only to be informed that “I do not work in this area but will get someone who does”. A few minutes later, another employee arrived and proceeded to help us to the tune of $840.00. While we were checking out, he asked if we were taking the purchase with us or if we wanted it delivered. We stated that we could not fit a 150 pound cabinet into our car and asked how much Home Depot would charge to deliver our purchase. The young man, who has a biblical name, said that HE would deliver the purchase for $75.00 (how in the world he could have gotten the vanity up to our bathroom by himself is a mystery). We called our contractor who told us he would do it for his hourly rate (he charges $85.00 an hour). We thanked the young man and told the cashier that our contractor would pick up the materials for us. Before we left, my wife asked if ALL the purchase was in stock and the cashier, I believe her name is Delores, told us that it was. We called a few days prior to pick up to make 100% sure that everything was in stock and were told that it was. On 9-11-12, our contactor arrived at 9:30 a.m. and began to remove the old cabinet. At 10:00 a.m., I called the Route 40 store to inform them that our contractor was on his way. Again, Delores told me that everything would be ready. At this point, the series of mistakes, errors, ineptitudes, rudeness and just plain ignorance began: and middot; At 10:15, Delores called to tell us that nothing we ordered was in the store. and middot; At 10:30, our contractor called to tell us the same information. and middot; I called the store in order to speak to a manager; only to be told by Eugene that they were in a meeting and could not be disturbed. and middot; The same result was experienced for a few more calls. and middot; My contractor called me to say he was calling the Washington Ave. store to see if they had the materials we had ordered. Simultaneously, my son had called a “Glinis Simpson” at the corporate office. I gave the updated information and told her that I really did NOT want my contractor to pay for the order at Washington Ave. She called Route 40 and spoke with Scott. While we all speaking, Scott was informed that the materials were indeed found at the Route 40 store. and middot; I then called my contractor to tell him NOT to purchase the order and to go back to Route 40 to get the order there. and middot; The contractor finally brought the cabinet and other materials to us only to discover that the bathroom vanity had been damaged prior to his picking up the order. and middot; The contractor went to Washington Ave. to try to make a return and pick up another vanity. He was told he’d have to return the vanity to Route 40. and middot; Our contractor bought another vanity at Washington Avenue, dropped off to our home, went back to Route 40 to return the damaged vanity (after I called Scott to make sure that he did not need my wife’s credit card to complete the transaction) and returned to our home to work on the rest of the project. and middot; Throughout this ordeal, I made several more attempts to contact Scott only to be told that he was still in a meeting and could not be disturbed. Eugene told me that the only reason Scott had called earlier was that the meeting had taken a brake. I had to leave home to get my wife from work. During this time, Megan called and left her number with my son. I called her, left a message, took her return call and set up a meeting for 4:00 p.m. today (9-12-12) and middot; After the new vanity was installed, our contractor told us that a drawer was not secured to the rollers and he’d have to get some small screws to affix the drawer to the frame. Keep in mind, that this was at 8:30 P.M. the unit was already installed and that returning it at this point in time was out of the question. and middot; Our contractor had to charge us for 10 hours of his time for a job that would have taken him between 3 to 4 hours had everything been made available to him when he initially went to the Route 40 store. Keep in mind, that the job is NOT completed as the medicine cabinet still needs to be installed and some other minor work needs to be completed which will no doubt ADD more labor time to our final bill. This experience has left us with the impression that Home Depot at Route 40: and middot; Does NOT care about their customers (the initial impression I got when speaking to employees about the mix up). and middot; Has extremely weak in store communication (employees SHOULD be allowed to “bother” a manager during a customer related crisis). and middot; Does NOT train their employees in the mind frame of: the customer is our #1 priority (is disturbing the manager MORE important than a customer’s problem?). and middot; Has NO command of its current in store inventory (we do NOT have the items we told you we did…oh wait…here it is). and middot; Have employees with questionable integrity (I will deliver it to you for $75.00). DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT MAKING ANY MAJOR PURCHASE AT THIS STORE!!

Everything went exactly as the salesman had said. I have to say that I made sure that when I went to Home Depot is was later at night on a week night when I knew they wouldn't be as busy and could spend the time with me. I love these doors.
Description of Work: I was doing a total remodel of my upstairs-bathrooms, new hardwood floors, etc. and needed pre-hung, glass double doors for the entry from the master bedroom to the master bath. I had gone on line to check the brand Feather River, which is what Home Depot carries. I saw mostly bad reviews about how the doors came apart, etc. so I was hesitant to by them. However, as the construction in my home continued, I needed to get doors ordered. This Home Depot (on Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City) has an especially knowledgeable, older gentleman who is the salesman for the doors. I visited on 2 occasions to look at all the doors and decide which would be best for me. They looked good quality to me. I even researched Feather River on line and saw that they are specialists in doors and had many beautiful styles. This salesman knew everything about the doors and took a lot of time helping me order exactly the right one with the correct opening, ball catch, hinge colors, trim colors, etc. He explained to me about an astragal close versus the ball catch, what kind of handle to use and more. Since this was a special order and therefore not retunable, he took extreme care to get everything right, right down to the delivery date and methods. My doors arrived exactly when he said they would (six weeks) and my construction guys picked them up from Home Depot. The doors are very heavy and good quality - leaded glass - just beautiful. They were prehung so they open and close like a dream. I am very happy with them and very happy I chose these doors and didn't let my decorator charge me three times as much for doors from another home improvement store.

I was pleased with job from beginning to end. My windows look great, the work was done on schedule, the crew leader made sure I understood and approved the work, and they were careful not to disturb anything in my home. The work was done in a timely manner and on schedule. My home is now quieter; I live in a townhome community which has lots of children. Their sales representative was honest and friendly, he gave me a fair price upfront without any phony sales games or sales prices that were good for that day only. I'm also saving $60 on my BEG bill compared to last year. I had the original construction grade vinyl windows. Two of my windows developed a permanent haze between the two panes of glass, and they were all poor in terms of energy savings. Also, some of my windows no longer opened, and none them were energy efficient or opened at the top. Initially, I had no intention of using home depot for my windows. I just wandered into the store to get an idea of what windows should run, to arm myself against the salespeople who'd be coming to my house. I was greeted by one of their home sales representatives as I was looking at the windows. The person was friendly, and informative without any pressure. After finding out that the Home Depot Corporation actually stands behind the work, not the individual contractor and that the people doing the work are factory trained and certified; I decided to give them a shot. I had quotes that were cheaper, however I found that home depot gave me the best value for my money. I have a lifetime transferable warranty that covers the frame, hardware, glass and screens. I'm thrilled with the work and would definitely recommend them.

When looking to put in a floor in a large area (over 500 square feet), I got several estimates. Originally, I figured Home Depot would serve as a general benchmark for comparison purposes. I didn't expect to get the value and quality of service up front that I did, so I ended up going with them. I was pleasantly surprised to get a continuing high level of service with their installation contractor. The contractor Home Depot has in the area is Innovative Tile and Marble. It was very easy to schedule the job and they were on time and easy to work with. I would definitely consider using Home Depot in Catonsville and this contractor for flooring again.

The overall experience was very troubling and difficult. The materials were not delivered on the scheduled day and the contractors consistently made appointments that they did not keep. The manufacturer stopped producing elements needed to complete the installation and my order wasn't updated to reflect the changes. I only found out when the installer didn't have enough materials to complete the job. The project was supposed to take 4 days including delivery and it took 3 months. The floors look great and the individual contractors were polite, but I wouldn't use Home Depot again.
