Barbara Shea was incredibly helpful, even over the holidays in providing a revised condo questionnaire and other information the lender was requesting. The buyer was turned down by one lender and Ms. Shea went out of her way to work extensively with the second lender and as a result of her efforts, the buyer is closing this week! Ms. Shea and her very professional staff were polite, helpful and did everything possible to help the lender.
Description of Work: Provided a revised condo questionnaire and information needed for a client buying a condo in a development that Shea manages.

Unfortunately in the 4 years I have lived on the property, 3.5 years on the board with 2.5 of those years as president, I have been managing the management company to get any work done. Every attempt to get information as to why projects take so long to even get started is met by excuses about the contractors. It took 5 months to get a pot hole fixed which damaged a car, 7 months to get a railing fixed, and it has taken two months to get a proposal revised for much needed repairs that if go unfixed could result in even more costly repairs this winter. The documents we finally received for the last item were dated August 9th and they weren't given to the board until September 26th even though every week I asked to know what was going on. Calls to Barbara went unanswered and I couldn't leave a voicemail because it is always full. The reason we have kept her is because we are very busy and it is hard to keep up with those tasks that we hired Shea for. We also need to keep our costs low. She has pulled some very shady stunts and we are in the process of looking for a new company as soon as humanly possible.
Description of Work: Shea Management was hired about 6 or 7 years ago to maintain our property and guide the board in making critical decisions to help our community run smoothly.

it was a very frustrating year of Shea trying to ruin us.
Description of Work: Shea Management is the worst property management company in DC. The only Barbara Shea did any work for us was a day or two before the monthly meeting. She did not have any of our request (mainly bids on projects) completed on time. We had expensive property insurance and determined that by canceling our policy and paying the fee would save us over $4,000 by signing up with a new insurance company with the same policy details. Not only did she not cancel the policy, she claimed that we never told her. When I forwarded her meeting minutes and multiple email reminders that were sent to her, she still did not apologize, claiming we had too many requests for her. The final straw was when she was going to release checks that were more then we had in our operating account. She nearly ruined us. I would not recommend Shea Management to my worst enemy.

I'm irritated that I paid for work I didn't need. I'm not sure if it's my fault for not fully appreciating what was required (the info in the first mailing) or what. What leaves a bad taste with me is the mandatory work is usually conducted in a half-baked manner; this is not the first time, e.g. heating units in the hot water closet still hasn't been moved.
Description of Work: One caveat: 1) This report should be read in conjunction with the one I submitted re: First Class Plumbing for this same date. The cost here is not in addition to the cost noted in the First Class Plumbing report. Services performed: Arranged for mandatory cleaning/replacement of condensate lines for each unit in the condominium association in which I live. Today was the date scheduled for my building. Shea Mgt sent out a mailing over a month ago that described the work to be done, why, the cost, how to opt out, and in a separate mailing a few weeks providing the schedule for the work for the entire community.
