Don Zeller, the salesman at the Columbia store location, was very helpful and responsive. He gave us a lot of carpet options and let us spend as much time and ask as many questions as we needed to make our choices. We purchased carpet for a large part of the main and upper floors of our house plus a small area of vinyl flooring, which was treated as a separate install on a different day. Don told us that a large job, especially for a carpet that was not stored in their warehouse, may take a few weeks. We were not in a hurry so that was okay. Reviewers should keep in mind that they can't have everything in stock so should monitor their expectations accordingly. Everything was great, although we were a little nervous when we knew that it would take all day to do the carpeting and we had not heard from the installers as early in the morning as we expected. But they did call after 9:00 AM, and they did come prepared to do the carpeting job. The team of three moved furniture that we could never have moved (some big stuff!) and they worked diligently, answering questions and asking questions as they came up. They ripped up and hauled away the old carpeting and padding and vacuumed the subfloor before installing the new pad and carpet. I was expecting to have to run out and vacuum before they put in the new padding so that was a real plus. They cleaned up after themselves well. It has been several weeks since then and the carpet looks and feels great. A week after the carpet installation, we had the company replace the vinyl flooring in our main level laundry room (a lot of the main level is hardwood). There was a team of three for this relatively small job. They moved out the washer and dryer (made it look easy!) and got right to work. They temporarily removed the baseboard molding and then removed the old existing vinyl floor and adhesive layer below. There was more dust than I expected from cutting the underlayer and the vinyl, although not that much, and they did a wonderful job cleaning up after the old floor and taking the time to lay the underlayer and cut the vinyl perfectly. And they were friendly, too. All in all, I recommend them at the Columbia location highly.
Description of Work: We had all of the carpeting and padding replaced (222 square yards) on the main and second story plus, a week later, vinyl flooring replaced in our main level laundry room.
It went very well. Took 2 days to finish. The job was done professionally and I am very happy with the results. One thing I wanted to mention was that after Next Day Floors issued the price quote, the project manager stopped by to check my basement since it is usually not recommended installing hardwood flooring down there due to the humidity and possibility for water damage. After measuring the humidity in the basement and checking the crawl space, the project manager gave the thumbs up to proceed. I chose to go with hardwood for the basement because the cost difference between hardwood and laminate (that I originally wanted) was pretty small.
Description of Work: They pretty much help me replace/update the floorings of my whole house. Installed oak hardwood flooring in the living room and basement. Installed carpets in all bedrooms (3 rooms) hallway and two stairs. Price also included moving the furniture out of all the rooms and putting them back after the installation.
Absolutely perfect. Tricia was very friendly, explained everything, measured everything, coordinated everything, accommodated my schedule and made sure it all went as planned. The installers were very professional, friendly and focused on the job. They did awesome work and the floors look great.
Description of Work: Removed old flooring; Installed hardwood flooring.
In the bathroom, we discovered that the subfloor was basically ruined due to a slow water leak and needed to be replaced. This involved removing the vanity as well. Crew worked very hard and finished the kitchen and crew chief Gene called saleman, Dennis, and things were arranged and Gene promised he would return on Monday and take care of the bathroom subfloor and the replacement floor. We had Holiday guest coming in on Tuesday so were were a bit anxious if the project would be completed. Gene and helper worked diligently all day and by 7:00 p.m. we had a new subfloor and tile on our floor. Gene did an outstanding job and saved the day for us.
Description of Work: Provided new flooring for bath and kitchen
The job was to begin on a Tuesday and was not completed until Thursday after numerous hours of dust and noise in the house. The salesman, Nick, assured me that the job would take a day as I was concerned about other commitments I had made. Unfortunately the company used a third party contractor who lived over an hour away so they were late two days in a row because of that as well as their inability to complete previous jobs. This also affected the timeline of the job. On the first day they were over two hours late and I had to be somewhere that afternoon. When the workers finally arrived, they brought one or two drop cloths to put down in the dining room but covered nothing in the kitchen. I was instructed by Nick to only remove items from the kitchen that were on the floor or would be in the way so I did that and I also put down a drop cloth in the living room adjacent to the kitchen for them to use for the appliances before they arrived. Once they began removing the tile, the dust started to fill my entire three story town home and when they were finally ready to begin putting in the new sub floor, it was almost time for them to leave for the day. They said they would stay as late as they needed. They even proceeded to tell me that they worked on a job until the wee hours of that morning so that was why they were late. When I said I had to go and that they would need to come back and finish, the lead worker apologized and said that he didn't know that this job required tile removal and that usually takes a lot longer. I showed him the work order and it specified tile removal and I also complained about the mess in my house. He again apologized and said he was never told that tile would be removed. I asked how much time they would need the next day and he said they had another job to do in the morning and that they would need maybe 3 hours in the afternoon to finish at my house. After 2pm the next day I called Next Day Floors to find out when they would be coming and they had the worker call me. He said they were still finishing the other job and would be at my house in about an hour. They finally arrived at almost 5 pm and proceeded to work until 10 pm when I had to ask them to leave due to the noise they were making and the fact that I have neighbors to consider. At that point they were still not finished, my house was a disaster and I had noticed that my one cabinet was totally pulled away from the wall that I had just painted the week before. I finally contacted the salesman about my horrible experience that night and he apologized profusely. To quote him, "I will get on this first thing in the morning. I will make sure the job is to your complete satisfaction. I am so sorry and embarrassed by this installers performance and will work to make this right." The installer did finish the next day however there were bubbles under the vinyl and problems with the edges. The clean up was also unsatisfactory as I am still finding dust in crevices and was dismissed when I asked that they offer a cleaning crew. It turned out that the head installer was out of town due to a family emergency so his son and a helper came to do the job that they were clearly not equipped for. In the end the head installer had to come back out and redo the whole job correctly. This took yet another day but it was done. So yes they were apologetic and took $200 off my final price, but for the 4 days that I had to put out for them and the amount of clean up I had to do after they left, I was not completely satisfied and still cringe when I see dust or come across an imperfection in the floor.
Description of Work: Removed tile floor and installed vinyl flooring in kitchen and foyer. Had to remove vinyl and install new due to problems the first time.

Response from Next Day Floors
Unfortunately when installing a hard surface floor there is never a definite knowledge of what the time frame for the job is going to be until the installer is able to take up the old floor and see what needs to be done to insure a proper installation. When the salesperson is reviewing the procedure for installation with the customer they are told what the time line would be under routine normal conditions. If repairs are needed or the old floor take-up takes longer than normal this adds time to the entire installation. This can also sometimes create a “snowball effect” causing delays that we do everything possible to keep to a minimum by staying on the job as long as possible and assigning jobs to other installers if possible. We strive to accommodate and satisfy each customer. In this case we fixed all of the concerns the member had and if the member is still not satisfied we invite the member to contact our office so that we can discuss and hopefully resolve any remaining issues.

The carpet is beautiful. The installation is not so great. The seams are obnoxiously visible in every area. I paid alot of money and expected better results. UPDATE: I was contacted by Next Day Floors and they did come back out to my house and were able to minimize the seams, and carpet my closet, at no charge!!! Completely unexpected and appreciated!!!

Next Day Floors were so unprofessional that I would never hire them to do the work that I need in my house as I'm selling my house and had a flood. I cant' sell my house and put it back on the market until I get flooring put back in, but these guys treated me so badly that I couldn't even place an order! At first I thought things were going well... I called and made an appointment with a professional young lady on Tuesday evening who set up an appointment for Wednesday of this week to have the sales person come out to my house. Though she was nice she never mentioned that if I want carpet the next day that the order would have to be in by 2pm. Bart came out around 1pm on Wednesday and couldn't possibly put an order in by 2pm even if I wanted it. Bart seemed nice, courteous and professional at first, but was upset that Home Depot came to measure around the same time. He also did NOT take the time to educate me on the different kinds of carpet as he only brought one sample with him, the construction, etc. so that I would know how to compare "apples to apples" when shopping for estimates from Next Day Floors, Home Depot, and Lowes. He never left me any information about the company, no quote, no nothing! He was about to leave without giving me his business card. I asked for card & the specs we talked about of which he gave me the name, color and price. I told him the price was $200 higher than that of what the insurance was offering and he said we would "work that out later", but it shouldn't be a problem. Then the next day I tried to get answers via text from him to clear up questions that arose after I received another quote from a competitor. He was very terse, aloof, vague, acted as if I was bothering him where he didn't have the time of day, ignored questions, and acted as if he didn't care about me or me being a customer... Like my business didn't matter to him! Here is the transcript of the texts: ME: Hi Bart, What is the face weight of the Crystal Springs? Why would HD have an issue with carpet direction w/ re to the steps vs other areas? And would you have it too? Also is there a door clearance issue downstairs? Thanks, Christa Gill BART: We do not use face weights nor have any reference for such. Since carpet was down prior there should be no door clearance issues...we do not cut doors. Flooring is all we do n the price I quoted is a total installed price. Thanks ME: 1) How do I compare your carpet quality to Home Depot's quality if I don't have a face weigh to use as a basis? Their price total installed was lower than yours. That's why I'm trying to compare apples to apples. 2) You didn't answer the carpet direction question regarding the stairs with that the living room or hallway? 3) Your answer regarding clearance of the doors isn't completely accurate. There wasn't carpet all over the downstairs floors. There was actually Pergo laminate in the hallway, hallway closet, front bedroom and front bedroom closet in addition to the 11 oz Berber carpet in the back bedroom and closet. Thanks, Christa BART: If the doors have at least a 1 inch clearance which is pretty standard no problem. Sounds like price is the concern. Do what is best for u. Thanks ME: I really like your proposal but I'm just trying to give this it's due diligence and ask the appropriate questions which seem to be bothering you. And I have to say your last comment makes it sound like you don't care about having my business? I'm very confused by this because I really wanted to go with Next Day Floors. ME: Hope you're ok. Haven't heard from you since this morning? Just so you know, I can't sell my house until I have carpet. I thought you understood that? As it happens the doors are between 1-1.5 inches. BART: Understand completely. Once ur insurance claim is settled n u r ready to write the order please let me know n we will schedule the install. Thank you ME: Its obvious you don't understand! You didnt read my texts thoroughly. You ignored questions. You were insensitive. Didnt care about having my business. I cant tell you how upset I am about how you wrote me! You were so professional in the house but yesterday you seemed like you couldnt care less! Christa ME: Did you get my texts from 2 hours ago? Then Bart didn't even have the decency to text nor call back. He had Butch Fields, the General Manager call me. I couldn't take his call at that moment and had to call him back where I had to leave a message. Butch did call back within a half hour. That was the only thing he did right. He was even more rude than Bart was via text! Butch, interrupted me incessantly, was very argumentative, defended Bart's poor behavior instead of apologize, was insensitive to me as a human being, was very dismissive and kept saying "let's move on" when I didn't have resolution and "I'm done with that as that's in the past!"! even when I wasn't finished talking about a subject, he insulted me, he talked down to me, he was belligerent and a bully, he asked what else he could do but when I asked him to clarify something he said, "no", he accused me of not having a certain quality carpet and said they never made 90 oz face weight when I have documentation from the manufacturer, the place I purchased it and an independent lab that tested it, he was verbally abusive and horrible to deal with! I would never recommend Next Day Floors to anyone ever!!! One of the worst experiences I've had dealing with a vendor!!! P.S. Angie List says, "Services Performed: No* More Weight is given to a review where work has been completed." I could not get services because the Sales person treated me so horribly in addition to the deplorable treatment I received by the GM. I would never trust people and/or a business who starts off giving horrible customer service! So, why would I ever buy from them? If they're horrible during the sales presentation and the Q/A to the sales person that escalates to the GM who later hangs up on you how do you expect they will treat you After they have your money???

Response from Next Day Floors
In response to this member’s bad experience with our company. The reality of the situation is that we decided in the best interest of the member and our company it would be better if we did not do business together. It became obvious to us that the member had expectations that from our perspective were unrealistic and could not be met. The member was not happy with Mr. Fields when he told her that maybe we were not the right company for her. Mr. Fields is the General Manager of the company and has been with Next Day Floors for 27 years. The President of Next Day Floors was in Mr. Fields’ office during the phone conversation with the member and can attest to the fact that he was very calm and handled the phone call in a reasonable and polite manner. Simply telling the member after a half hour discussion that we would not be doing business together. We normally do not try and respond to these type of accusations in a public forum. We would rather handle in a private manner. We also are not going to publish our version of the text and phone conversations. At this point we do not feel that revealing an entirely different version of the events would serve any purpose.

This review is specific to the Parkville location. I called to have someone bring samples to my house so I can install carpet in a bedroom to match the rest of the house. No one called back for 24 hours so I called again. The person on the phone wanted me to come in and look at remnants and did not seem interested in such a small job. Next Day Floors advertises that they will come to your house, but apparently this is only for larger jobs. They should be more truthful in advertisement and if they don't want small jobs, just say so. Unprofessional in my opinion.

They came and replaced the carpet and padding.
Description of Work: Replaced carpet that had been part of a water heater flood.
Overall, the project went well. Unfortunately, it took 2 days longer than anticipated because it was discovered that there was more moisture in the foundation of our house than anyone anticipated, and the contractor needed to thoroughly dry it out before the new flooring could be installed. This resulted in a small increase in the estimate, which was acceptable in light of the circumstances. I am very pleased with the quality of the workmanship.

Overall was pleased with NDF. The salesman, Bart, was courteous, professional, and non-pushy. He took his time measuring the areas and writing up the specifications. He presented a few options for us to consider and we made our selections. However, a couple nit-picks that were not Bart's fault: 1) I wish someone at the company would have told me new orders needed to be in by 2 pm that day in order to actually guarantee next day installation. I had Bart come at 3 and would easily have scheduled this earlier had I known. Really inexcusable to not inform the customer of this policy at the time when appointment was made. Maybe the issue was I did this via email instead of on the phone? 2) I was a bit disappointed at the availability of carpets that were actually in stock especially given this was a company that specializes in next day installation. In my opinion, they were a bit lower-grade and a bit more expensive than I would have preferred, had I the time to order different carpet. It would have helped had I been able to see the carpet selections prior to my appointment - my understanding is they now have show-rooms available, so I would strongly recommend folks take a look first if you are considering this option and don't have the time to order out-of-stock carpet. 3) I had to call them repeatedly the morning of the install to actually find out if, and what time, the install was going to be done. Not sure why the lack of communication occurred, but it was really frustrating. Having said all that, the crew that did the installation was fantastic. Really - very nice, quiet, hard-working and professional. They did a beautiful job and were respectful of my family and the house, and the other contractors (painters) they were working around. Because of the quality of the install, I would use NDF again, but would prefer the ability to order carpet first.

We bought a new house and had the carpet replaced in the entire house. Bill's Carpet was great through the entire process. We were a very large job and they helped us find the best carpet to stick within our budget. Crissy came to the house for an initial estimate and measurements. We worked with Crissy and Greg in the store several times to narrow down exactly which carpet we wanted to select for various areas of the house. It took a 3 person crew 2 long days to install. They were very professional, cleaned up very neatly, and always arrived on time. When I was away from the home, Crissy stopped by on her break and even texted me a status update of the job. I can't say enough how helpful and patient they were. The carpet is a great quality. We have not had any issues since the install. I would use Bill's Carpet again and recommend to others.

Three man crew showed up on time and worked without a break until the job was done. They also cleaned up after themselves. The only thing that bothered me is that they cut all the laminate inside our apartment, a job usually done outside. So there was a lot of sawdust everywhere. The floors look great!

I had such horrible service with a big box home improvement store that I gave up, took the sample to Bill's and said, "I would like something like this for a reasonable price without being taken to the cleaners!" They were able to pick out a similar carpet, came out to measure in a timely manner that fit with my schedule, and provided me with additional options to meet my price range. While we had some trouble with the carpet manufacturer and production dates (no fault of Bill's Carpet Fair), they were super responsive and courteous while we worked out the situation. The installers arrive a few minute early, addressed any questions I had, and went to work. They were in and out of there in no time, the carpet looked fantastic and all I had to do was run a vacuum over it. I couldn't be more pleased with the product, the price, and the service I received from Bill's. I will definitely be using them again in the future when I replace carpet in other parts of the house.

I originally worked with Rusty, their salesman. He was very receptive to my ideas and was able to make some excellent recommendations. I was given the option to finance the whole project for next to nothing, which was great! We settled on redoing a living room, a dining room, and a hallway, plus replacing the carpet on the stairs. The workers showed up early and worked very diligently. It took them about 10 hours because it was a pretty big job and there were some complicated corner cuts. They were polite, explained when they had an issue (a divot in the floor that needed to be patched, which they took care of!) and took the extra time to clean and vaccum the floors when the disgusting carpet was torn out. I'll definitely call Next Day Floors when I decide to do another flooring project.

Description of Work: We had laminate floor installed today it was an overall great experience. Rusty our salesman came out yesterday and showed us the selection available we made our selection and the came this morning and installed within 5 hours. The craftsmanship speaks for it's self but the willingness of the contractor to answer all questions really was nice. The cleaned up before they left and there was only a little dust left that we had to clean up. We only ran into one issue during the whole project when the flange broke during toilet removal, we are having to contact a plumber to come fix it. Other than that is was a great job done by great people.

I have used Bill's Carpet a few times in the past, and have never had a problem. Their price was lower than competitors and they had a fast installation time. They were my first stop when i decided to do kitchen floor. I chose 4 Armstrong patterns and 2 Mannington patterns from online, and went into the Parkville store to see samples and get a quote. They didn't have any samples to show me of the style that I wanted (Black and White Checkerboard), but they are dealers for both Armstrong and Mannington and they said they would get me samples. I had a diagram of kitchen floor and was told "about $1,200-1,300". They would have to send someone out to measure in order to give firm price. I was upset to find out that they charged $39 to measure, because they don't charge for carpet estimates, but, since I had a good experience with them in the past, I agreed. The $39 would be subtracted from price when I did the job. A man came to measure on April 15th. He was prompt, courteous and informative. My kitchen diagram was off. It was not 12' as I thought, but 12'5'. I expected the price to go up, and had no problem with that because I was the one who measured incorrectly. That's when everything good stopped. Apparently, every checkerboard pattern in the United States has been discontinued. When I called a few days after measuring to get a firm price, the manager, John Schmelzer said that he couldn't give me a price until new samples came. I have been waiting for a price from Bill's Carpet for more than 6 weeks. Each time I call, they say they will "get back to me". The last straw was on Monday May 19th, when the manager, John Schmelzer said "You have my word. I will call you by the end of business today with a price". Haven't heard a word since then. They didn't even have the decency to refund my $39 which they have no right to keep since they never provided me with an estimate.

The team was very professional, accommodating and punctual. We were selling our house and needed it done in a very short amount of time. We were thrilled with the results! It was the final touch that made our basement feel complete, it really transformed the area.
Description of Work: Installed wall-to-wall carpet and vinyl flooring in our basement.
My husband and I are first time home buyers and this was our first major purchase in our new home. I had four different flooring companies come out to measure, show samples, and give estimates. Todd from NDF was the first rep that was scheduled to come out. I was very impressed with his knowledged and he made me feel very comfortable with his understanding of what our needs were. He was very honest with me about what flooring would look best in our home. I had originally wanted something different throughout my kitchen but his honestly saved me from making what I can see now would have been a horrible decision. He was very helpful in saving us money by suggesting not replacing our living room floor which is in excellent shape. I was very concerned about saving money and finding the best deal. So I had three other companies come to our home. None of them gave me the sense of comfort that Todd from NDF gave me. I was also very annoyed by two companies that wanted to glue down vinyl sheeting on top of my exsisting floors. I had requested to see vinyl tiles and no samples were brought only the vinyl sheet samples. The other companies I felt were looking for a fast and easy install instead of tearing out the old vinyl sheeting and replacing the sub floor. One rep even came out in baggy pants and crocs who gave me the creeps. Even though we could have saved a bit of money going with one of the other companies my husband and I decided that the quality of NDF flooring would best suit what we wanted in our home. Todd was kind enough to come back to our home on a Friday evening for my husband and I to sign the contract. The work on our kitchen and bathroom floors lasted two days. I found the installers to be hard working and proffesional. It took a full day to rip out the old to start with correcly laying down the new vinyl tiles. Both days the crew arrived at 8:15 and started to work with a small lunch break during the day. They finished up at 7:15 on Friday night. The floors look amazing! They spent a lot of time going over the flooring to make sure it was perfect before leaving. Everything was cleaned up and we couldn't even tell they were there except for our amazing floors in the bathroom and kitchen. The carpet installers came at 3:30 and had everything finished in two hours. I cannot even tell were the seem is they did such an amazing job. They moved what little we had in the basment including a treadmill, removed the exsisting carpet and laid our new carpet down. I was very happy with the carpet installers and found the crew to have the same good attitude and professionalism. While you maybe able to find a better price for flooring at a different company my husband and I are very happy that we decided on NDF. The quality of work done, the quality of the flooring that was used, and the excellence of everyone involved from Todd the rep, the scheduling person, to the installers were beyond our expectations.

They had it all installed within 3 hours. They did a beautiful job and put the furniture back where it was supposed to go. I was quite pleased and I love the carpeting. The carpet came in relatively quickly and I was able to choose the perfect day for me. The lady that helped me choose the carpeting was wonderful too.
Description of Work: They sold & installed 2 rooms and a hallway's worth of carpet.
