Work performed on schedule and appears to be fine. Will ask them for an estimate for similar services at my new home.

They postponed the remediation so I miss my closing date. Then they were to have the work done by September 18 so that I could close on September 19, well that did not happen either. It was September 22 before we were able to close.

Very professional service. Harford Radon had installed the original mitigation system for previous owners in March 2004. Replaced dead 10 year old fan with new fan; service call was $165.00 and new fan was $250.00. They completed the job within a half an hour and checked to make sure pressure levels were good and system was running properly before they left. Gave me paperwork for 5 year warranty on the fan. Very pleased with entire process. Our peace of mind was worth every cent.

It did not go well, and continues to not go well because the truth is not being told by this Company.

It was an educational, and very expensive experience. We have primarily been do-it-yourselfers and have had little experience with contractors. What we've learned: Get a detailed estimate that breaks down the cost for specific portions of the job, and never ever pay the bill in full before you've had a chance to fully inspect the work, and get several estimates first. I checked this company out on Angie's List, and they had positive reviews, although none of the jobs had a price tag anywhere near what we paid. This project was more extensive than what other reviewers described. The realtor also recommended them. Steve did seem very knowledgable about mold, and seemed like a nice likeable guy. Another contractor had suggested a much cheaper, and less extensive fix, but Steve's plan seemed more thorough. As we both have allergies, it seemed like the better option. We were not allowed to be in the house for the initial phase of the work, while it was sealed up. The removal of the carpet, drywall and insulation seemed to go fine. The replaced drywall is the green colored anti-mold type. There were two small areas in the basement with sheet vinyl flooring, which appear to have mold at the edges against the basement walls (discolored areas underneath), but the vinyl flooring is still there. They removed a portion of the bottom (floor) of the kitchen sink cabinet, and painted that area. Replacing the cabinet floor was not included. We were there for a portion of the third day and did observe some of the wipe-down and final clean up of the job going on. The 'wipe down' involved dipping a rag in a bucked of mold-killing solution. We did see some of this going on. We paid the bill, in full. This was really our own fault, as under the contract the final third wasn't due until after the post-test results. Live and learn. As we moved in on 12/31 we started to unpack and discovered that about half of the cabinets in the kitchen were not touched. The same crumbs, spills and bits of trash that had been in the cabinets before were still there. Bathroom cabinetry also had spills and debris on the inside. Some fixed shelves, and light fixtures were still dusty. The moldicide solution left a visible film on the mirrors and other shiny surfaces. We understand that the point of this wipe-down wasn't cleaning, but to treat for mold. However, you can't wipe a surface with a damp rag and not move the crumbs or the dust around some. And this was only a day or two later, so it wasn't new dust and crumbs. At this point, it was New Years Day 2010, and we needed to settle in and be back at work on Monday. We spent much of the weekend going over all the cabinets, counters, shelves, floors, etc. with bleach solution before we could start to unpack. In some areas it was very obvious that they had not been wiped, but in spots that weren't very dirty in the first place, there was really no way to tell for sure. Did they really wipe down all the walls? There is alot of wallpaper in house, and white paint. I don't see the filmy marks, and I do see some dirty spots, but really there is no way to tell for sure. Steve did the post-test the day after the work was completed, and the mold levels did drop pretty dramatically, and were similar to the outside air. When I complained, Steve's response was they had made an extraordinary effort given the time constraints. So perhaps there was a communication issue between Steve and the office staff, but he didn't ask for more time at the time. He didn't offer to re-do that portion of the work or make other adjustments. They did send us a bill for another almost $1000 for the radon system, which we have not paid and don't plan to. The post-test sample was collected the morning after the work was finished, and results were fine, even given that this 'wipe down' portion of the work was kind of hit and miss. So now we're wondering if maybe it wasn't really necessary in the first place, and wondering why we paid for it. The person who did the initial home inspection had suggested, indirectly, that Harford Radon was over-priced, and maybe we should have listened to him. In hindsight, we should have asked that the post testing be done a few weeks later, since with the work going on, the fans, the doors open constantly, the outside air and the inside air would have been pretty much the same at that point. On damp days, I still smell a moldy odor in a few places, especially the basement. The price for the radon system does seem in-line with other places, so for that or for a much smaller job/less expensive job, or just testing, this company may be fine to use.

Very prompt, very knowledgable and pleasant. Appointment was easy to arrange, as was pick up of the radon detection equipment. Steve had a lot of knowledge to pass on about mold, moisture, etc.

Very well. They arrived as promised to provide estimate and discuss ideas about systems then arrived to install equipment when promised. They were professional and offered viable alternatives to installation designs then when they installed the system they did so quickly with positive results. I was pleased with the work and would recommend and use these people again.

My wife had been having serious headaches and subsequently found some mold in one of our bedrooms. It was caused by some a leaking roof get a collection of old books. Some of the books were damaged, which was angering, but it was the mold which caught our attention. The father/son duo from Harford Radon were very professional and detailed in their inspection. With many years of experience, they are capable of personally sensing the presence of common molds and fungi. After going into the attic to search out any evidence of mold/mildew, they concluded that there was none -- just what was visible. I would say they were here for nearly an hour. They were very thorough in questioning me on all aspects of our house (HVAC, water damage, previous mold), our health (my wife has allergies) and our jobs (my wife works at a craft store). It turned out that the allergic reactions my wife had been having wasn't due to a little mold in our house but a very large mold infestation at her work. Further, her job at the crafts store exposes her to high volumes of VOCs which can make her feel miserable as the day goes on. It was an educational visit and reassuring that our touch of mold was really no concern. They did treat the mold, but further testing was not necessary. I thought the price was a little high, but can you put a price on the health of your family?

It went great. They came when they said they were going to come, they honored their contract, working toward the EPA guidelines.

Steve Stran was knowledgeable and professional. His prices were similar to others. The company he sent mold samples out to (in Arizona) took longer than promised (and this was a problem as we were buying a house and had deadlines), but this was not his fault.

The job went well. They came when they said they would, brought everything they needed to do the job, and fixed my problem.

I felt they did a very good job. They showed up on time and did exactly what they promised. They made several helpful hints about preventing mold issues. They identified potential problem areas. Ultimately, they found no airborne problems and one location of non-airborne mold but did not pressure us to hire them for remediation.

Both Mike and Steve were very knowledgeable and courteous. They were on time for their quote and the schedule work. They worked hard and fast. I was pleased with how the installed system looked. We are still waiting on the test results to see if that system is effective enough. We choose them because they offered a tiered payment approach. I.e. they put in a 3 suction system. for $1500, if that is not enough they will come back and put in 2 more suction points and another fan for $1000. As opposed to other quotes who would just put in 3-4 suction points and 1 fan for $2300. This way we have a shot at a less expensive option.

HARFORD WAS VERY COMPETITIVE AND VERY THOROUGH. THEY PROVIDED A TWO STEP PROCESS WITH PRICING FOR BOTH. WE HAD THE FIRST STEP DONE AND LOWERED THE LEVELS DOWN TO A TOLERABLE LEVEL. THEY WERE CLEAN AND COURTEOUS.
