Terrible experience from beginning to end. What a headache - I wish I never bought the appliance from Home Depot. All they know is how to ring up the purchase. When something goes wrong, no one can help you and they toss you around to different people. I spent days and talked to maybe around 10 staff members and no one can help. The dryer I bought was defective - their own installation people said this. Yet, I had to call Home Depot myself to explain the situation. They would not refund my money since I had the appliance for more than 48 hours (because their installer wasn’t available for a week after delivery). I had to wait another 10 days for a new dryer to come/to be exchanged. When I called Home Depot back to schedule installation prior to the actual delivery, they said that the people who are delivering the new dryer will also install it at the same time . Well, they didn’t. I then call Home Depot again to schedule another appt for installation - and now they are telling me i never paid for it - they couldn’t see the charges (well, I have the receipt that showed that I paid $200 for it). They then gave me a number to a local handyman who said will be able to help me install the appliance. I called the handyman and he said he doesn’t do gas/plumbing services . Argh! It is so frustrating to deal with these clowns . Do NOT buy appliances from them .

I had a terrible experience with Home Depot. We had a KraftMaid cabinet in our kitchen and one night as my husband had gone downstairs to drink water; it was late at night; one of the cabinets which held all of our plates in it fell off the wall. It was absolutely lethal and could have killed somebody. It was unreal; it literally peeled off the wall. I actually called the police as I didn’t know what had happened. The fire department came out but they could not figure out any reason; there was a thunderstorm on that night and it had just come off the wall. The screws have held it perfectly but literally the back of it just peeled off. When I went to Home Depot the next day the staff was quite sympathetic and I was taken to the contractor who was in-charge. But they did not do anything. I then called KraftMaid and the person dealing with the loss came over and absolutely acknowledged it had nothing to do with the installation; in fact that sort of cabinet was not supposed to have been on the wall holding that amount of weight. I talked to somebody at Home Depot and there was nothing significant that the designers could see. I had another friend to whom the same thing happened. They installed the KraftMaid cabinet and it had fallen off the wall. I was absolutely livid. Home Depot actually never took any responsibility for it. KraftMaid essentially paid for us to get a standing hutch and that’s all I got. I did not have the energy to file a law suit and I went back to Home Depot and told them that it had been settled and that they have to make sure that KraftMaid put a warning on that piece of cabinetry that it should never be used hanging from the wall. The point of the matter was I wanted to alert them so they could do something so that, that would not happen to other people. But I have a problem with Home Depot for not taking the responsibility and not looking into it.I will not use them again in the future.

Store personnel were uninformed about other departments, and sometimes about their own. Some items were missing from their shelves. Some lumber items did not have prices displayed. Some packaged items had been opened, with some components removed.

Home Depot provides good quality at lower prices. We were happy with their service and expertise in getting us the perfect blinds for our needs. The price was very good compared to other places. The blinds are good quality. The people at Home Depot were cheerful and friendly.

I purchased bifold doors from the Watertown Home Depot on Sept 19. It is now March 1, and the job still isn't done right (the doors were too small for the opening, and there are drill holes on the face). When I call the subcontractor (Malkin and Sons), the HD installation manager Paul Nelson, or the store ''manager'' Tim, I get a lot of lip service, someone telling me I'll get a call back later in the day, or that, hey, the ''doors just came in today!'' (not). There is NO FOLLOW UP. What's worse, Home Depot (esp Paul Nelson and Tim), just aren't interested in standing behind their work. Once they get me off the phone, they never call back. Now offer of a refund or credit. No escalation to get the problem fixed. Nothing. So here we are, nearly 6 months later, the doors are wrong, Home Depot has my money, and no one there cares.

Most people I've encountered have had limited knowledge of their store. I'm frequently sent to the wrong aisle. There are a few very good knowledgeable workers, but most don't live up to that. There's usually a big selection, that is why I use them. If I need quality wood I go to a lumber store because their lumber is not that good (but it's cheap).

DON'T GET YOUR KEYS MADE HERE!!! Of the 6-7 keys we've had made, only two of them fit. I don't know if the problem is their machine, or their operator, or what, but whatever the problem is, it's a waste of time.

Initially very responsive. However, after we paid (house is now a 3-family condo), we found a "forgotten" charge tacked on to our bills. But worst of all- the new roof leaked! After 6 months, there were leaks coming from multiple places. And to add insult to injury, my neighbors & I placed numerous calls to Home Depot, to little avail. Now to be fair, Home Depot did come out ASAP after we reported the first leak. And we think THAT leak has been fixed. But HD has not confirmed this to us in writing, because the work was done (if done) when no one was home. Further, we can't figure out if the additional leaks have been dealt with. HD is nice enough, when they respond, but no one seems to be on the same page as anyone else & we are confused, frustrated, & paying a lot of money for a leaky roof. Furthermore, we have no information about what to do regarding repairing the damaged walls & ceilings!

HOME DEPOT HOME SERVICES GROUP WAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE IN EVERY WAY. DIDN'T PROPERLY SET UP JOB, & WHEN ROOF PROBLEM AROSE WITH THEIR ROOFING SUBCONTRACTOR (WHICH HOME DEPOT GUARANTEES TO FIX UNDER THE LABOR & MATERIALS WARRANTY), HOME DEPOT WOULD NOT CALL US BACK. TO DATE 11/22/05, WE HAVE NOT BEEN RESPONDED TO. DURING INSTALLATION, ROOF INSTALLER SAID "HE WOULD NEVER LAY A ROOF DOWN OVER AN EXISTING ROOF". WHEN WE INQUIRED WHY THE FLAT ROOF WASN'T REMOVED BEFORE THE INSTALLATION, THE INSTALLER SAID WE HAD STRUCTURAL ISSUES, WHICH WE FOUND AMUSING SINCE WE HIRED A STRUCTURAL ENGINEER TO GET THE OK TO REPLACE THE ROOF. THE MEMBRANE ON THE FLAT ROOF WAS NOT PROPERLY PITCHED SO WATER IS COLLECTING & STANDING FOR WEEKS. WHEN WE APPROACHED THE "THIS OLD HOUSE" CREW APPEARING AT HOME DEPOT TO ASK ABOUT THE FLAT ROOF PROBLEM, THEY SAID NOT ONLY SHOULD THE ORIGINAL FLAT ROOF HAVE BEEN REMOVED BUT, THE MEMBRANE SHOULD HAVE BEEN PITCHED PROPERLY TO AVOID STANDING WATER.

IN ADDITION TO THE RIDICULOUS LENGTH OF TIME IT IS TAKING TO GET A SIMPLE DOOR ORDERED, AND INSTALLED, IT HAS BEEN IMPOSSIBLE TO GET INFORMATION FROM HOME DEPOT. I WAS REPEATEDLY LEFT WAITING ON THE PHONE UNTIL THE CONNECTION WENT DEAD. IT HAS BEEN AN INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE. WE WERE TOLD FORMS WERE LOST, PEOPLE WERE ON VACATION, AND "I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED". WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE "A FEW WEEKS" IS NOW SEVERAL MONTHS, AND COUNTING.

THE SALES PEOPLE WERE HELPFUL IN HELPING ME DECIDE WHICH DOORS WOULD BEST SUIT MY NEEDS. THE INSTALLER WAS A LITTLE GROUCHY ABOUT THE SNOW ON THE BACK DECK (WHERE ONE OF THE DOORS IS LOCATED), BUT SHOVELED IT OFF AND DID THE WORK WITH NO OTHER COMPLAINTS.

REBA WAS GREAT -- VERY NICE TO WORK WITH AND KNOWS HER STUFF. AN APPOINTMENT IS A MUST. THE STORE IS SO BUSY THAT YOU CAN'T JUST 'DROP IN' AND EXPECT ANY DETAILED HELP. I LOVE MY CABINETS -- THEY LOOK GREAT AND LOOK MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THEY WERE.
