Everything went great; Jeff was punctual to meet me for an estimate and walk-through. He took the time to answer all of my questions. The windows arrived early and so the work was done a week earlier than expected. Jeff's crew arrived right on time, after calling 30 minutes prior to arrival. Jeff's foreman Paulo was very considerate and friendly, making sure that my tenants were not going to be inconvenienced during the project. The crew completed everything within two days, and the workmanship looks to be impeccable. The windows look fantastic and they cleaned up so thoroughly that it would be hard to tell that anyone was there except for the shiny new windows. As an extra favor, Paulo also swapped out a broken storm window in our unit with one of the storm windows removed from upstairs. I can't say enough good things about the project and the service provided by Fisher Windows. The price is pretty steep but that is due to the higher quality Harvey windows and options I selected. Sure, you can buy cheaper windows but I feel very good about the investment we made being well worth it. I plan on using Jeff Fisher again when I am ready to do the remaining windows in the house. PS - check out the MassSave HEAT Loan for 0 interest financing which helps alot.

Love our Angie's List customers... they are always informed and do their homework. It's always a pleasure to get a nice review. We do 3000 windows a year, and most of the time, people only write reports when things go wrong, which in not very often... happy when people are satisfied. I guess if I did the work for free I could get all A's. Price is competitive... I shouldn't be the lowest if we offer lifetime labor, service and glass warranty. Keep the reports coming..

Jeff is rated highly here on Angies LIst and that was the main reason I considered him. I chose 3 companies, including Jeff's, to provide a quote for the work and he was the most responsive and professional; add that to the great reviews and I felt confident using him. They came on the day and time promised, loved that, and the guys that work for Jeff are lovely. Courteous, professional, and very willing to help in any way they can. Once the job was done there were a couple of things that needed attention. One was a dislodged screen handle, and the other was the trim around 9 of the double hung windows. The trim seemed to be a misunderstanding and not in the contract in the same way that the kitchen trim was, but Jeff came back and did that no questions, as well as the screen handle. He also took care of a repair of an older window. I found his price to be about 10% higher than the other quotes. I said earlier that I would use him again, and that's true, but the price difference was a bit of sting.

I always appreciate positive comments. This job went well.. and there was a discrepancy at to interior trim on an unfinished porch. I went back to the job and did the trim free of charge... 9 trims would have cost $75 each. I am surprised when people say I am high on my prices.... especially when I provide this kind of hassle free service. Other vinyl companies... most that advertise, charge $1000 or more per window... we average $400-450 depending on options. Which is roughly what most other companies charge. I try to keep my prices competitive... and offer better service. I also try to treat my crew better.

The service we received from Paul at Jeff Fisher windows was excellent. The price was similar to the quotes we received from other companies, but we were convinced that we'd have the best experience working with Paul and his crew, and that turned out to be a very good choice. The work was done over the course of 2 days, and they did a very good job minimizing mess and dust. We have small children and live in an old home, so keeping dust to a minimum was important for us. There was one mix-up that was fixed very quickly (the installers put the wrong window hardware on one of the windows, but we had it taken care of a few days later, no big deal). The windows look beautiful and we have had no problems in the year or so since the work was done.

I was contacted very quickly after submitting a request for proposal. Paul came by and gave me a rough estimate on the spot, and had the proposal to me the next day. The price was very fair, came in at the middle - I ended up going with another contractor based on lower bid, and they also provided shutters which Jeff Fisher windows does not.

We met with three different contractors to do the window replacement with a preference to go with a company that did the manufacturing of the windows as well as the installation. For a variety of different reasons (cost, easy to work with, quality of windows, timing) we decided to go with Jeff Fisher Windows. While they do not manufacture the windows, we got Harvey windows. They recommended we go to their showroom and check them out so we did. They are nice windows, nothing fancy but solid. The windows were a couple days late (no big deal) but they did a great job. The three people who worked on the job were nice, professional, and they were extremely easy to work with. They took care of everything. They replaced ~18 windows over two days and the windows look really nice as they even replaced some rusted material on the outside of the house. They cleaned up pretty well on the inside of the house and took all of the old windows away. The only issue was that there were still some paint chips on the outside of the house that needed to be cleaned up when they were done. Overall they were easy to work with, priced well, and did high quality work so I would recommend them without hesitation.

We have a 1996 colonial that desperately needed window replacements. We called & met with several companies and Jeff Fisher stood out. Paul came out to the initial meetings in October and proved very knowledgable and pleasant to deal with. He did some initial measuring and Jeff came out for the final count and measures. We had already decided on Marvin Windows but Jeff does carry other lines in varying price ranges. The crew showed up promptly on the designated date and finished within several days. They were polite, professional and extremely neat. We could not be happier with the results and immediately noticed the comfort difference in our home over the winter, as well as the exterior improvement. Jeff, Paul & the crew were great to deal with and we would happily recommend them.

I called about replacing a couple of windows. When I told him I lived in Dorchester, he wasn't interested in giving me an estimate, or in doing the work. I was offended. I pointed out that the reviews on Angie's list say that he does small jobs, but he said that he doesn't like to, and that he's only taken small jobs for friends. So I guess it's his friends who are giving him good reviews! He recommended another glazier, but that person has bad reviews on Angie's List, so I didn't contact them. I was disappointed, I must say....

Small jobs are difficult to schedule and not generally profitable. I try to help people... I have done some small jobs over the years, but only when it makes sense to me... jobs near my city really. Or if it is a past customer, we always try to make an exception. So the truth is I rarely do small jobs. I try to recommend people that are willing to do small jobs, and I guess some of them don't have as many good reports. I do like the way Angie's List works, but occasionally you get a bad report that may not be deserved. We do work in Dorchester, so it is not an issue as to where the job is located... there are places my work van can't reach... back bay, Beacon Hill... but Dorchester is a place I have completed many projects. When you have a 2 man crew, worker's comp, travel time... etc, 2-3 windows does not even cover expenses for the day. Jeff

I own a home that was built in 1910 and have a ton of experience with contractors and home improvements. Over the years, I have met some good contractors and some really bad (lessons learned). It's rare that I find a team of such high quality as Jeff Fisher Windows and Contracting. From the first contact, response, installation and all communication during the time of my contract - I have been more than impressed with their service and will absolutely use them again. If you are in the market for windows or door replacement, you will find their price fair (if you do your homework!) but I doubt that you will find a team that will treat your home as if it was their home. I had 8 replacement windows installed and a custom back entry door installed and could not be happier with the work. I wish I could give them more stars - they deserve it!!!!

We replaced every window in the house including replacement glass for a broken window in the basement. Paul came to the house initially to provide an estimate. Jeff subsequently came to measure all the windows and tell us which pieces of wood around the windows were rotten and needed to be replaced. I thought there was a lot of rot, however Jeff said almost all of it just needed sanding and a coat of paint. I appreciated his honesty as each piece of rotten wood could run up to $100 to replace, depending where on the window. Also, it was $300 to replace a basement window but after seeing the window, Jeff suggested just replacing the piece of broken glass for $100. There was a little confusion on the window order: Paul had one number to order and Jeff had another number. However, they meet to review each order and the discrepancy was caught ahead of the order so there was no impact to us. The windows arrived in about 4 weeks. The installers Paolo and another very polite gentleman were wonderful. The windows were installed beautifully with minimal impact to the existing structures. Additionally, each room was left cleaner than when they arrived. You would never have known they were in the house. I had read about Paolo from previous Angie's List users, and they were all correct. He is excellent, experienced and has a great sense of humor as well. Overall, we are extremely pleased with Jeff's. We even asked Paolo if they did bathroom renovations as we would have loved to have them do another project in our house. Unfortunately, they don't.

It started with the owner visiting my house. He was very sick that day, so he got some things mixed up. (He went to the doctor soon after this visit.) A salesman took over, but he kept mixing up the kitchen and dining room windows. I got very frustrated with this and almost gave up. Although we started on this in June, we did not sign the contract until early October. Because one of the windows was a special order, they could not replace the windows until late November or early December. Some trim was unavailable then, and wasn't installed until late December or early January. Overall, I'm very pleased with the work done. Some wood got damaged in removing an old storm window. (I think a screw just got ripped out.) Otherwise, it was great. The installation looks perfect and they left no mess. Everybody was easy to deal with and punctual.

I responded quickly… gave a fair price and yet I get 4 B's… I did not do the work, but I think my effort was at least worthy of A's. Most members understand that these kind of reports don't mean much, but I hate not having all A's. We work very hard to maintain such good marks here on the list.

Overall went very smooth. We first spoke with Paul who is the very experienced Windows salesman who has been in the business for quite some time. He asked us our budget and then gave us our options across multiple brands (which was a different and much better experience than some of the bigger name brand companies). Paul gave us a VERY reasonable quote, and called back a week later to confirm. Jeff then came out within a day or two, took measurements and gave us a realistic time-frame as to when the windows would be delivered (which Paul had already nailed in his estimate as well). Measuring took about 20 minutes. It then took about 3 weeks for the windows to be ready, and were then installed about 4 days later due to our schedule. Install took 2 days (day and a half really). We found out we had 2 sills that were on the wrong side of rotten, so the 2 workers went ahead at our request and wrapped the sills with aluminum to prevent further erosion. The wrap looks like it was original to the house thanks to their attention to detail. They also provided us the option of the more costly entire replacement which we declined. Installers were super professional and friendly and explained exactly what they were doing. We only ran into 1 hiccup with the picture window. Turns out the original was installed in a manor not commonly used and made installation of the replacement tricky, but they nailed it (figuratively speaking) without it looking any different. Could not be happier with our windows. No air leaks, and our bedrooms hold their temperature, unlike before where it was as if we lived with a piece of paper for a window.
Description of Work: We had 15 windows replaced in our home built in 1991 Each one of the windows had most certainly lost its seal and was in dire need of replacement. Replaced all 19 windows in the house with Harvey vinyl windows. My overall experience was stupendous. We did hit a little pothole in the beginning. Jeff came and gave me the estimate and I gave him one third deposit and then we had a little trouble with the date .He gave me a date, which I emailed back that I couldn't do. Then I did not hear back from him for a while about a new date. That was unsettling. But on installation date, all went smoothly. The work people, Polo and Dave, were very competent and responsible and I left them in my home alone and went to work. The work was very good, including the caulking, which requires skill. The caulk has not dried out a year later.I noticed a defective window during washing this past summer and emailed Jeff and he ordered a new one and delivered it promptly. An overall excellent experience. As for the windows, they work well. The house is much tighter and I can open and close them with one hand--a great relief from the old wooden ones with storms. I wish I had had the money for wood but opted for vinyl. The windows lock well and I like the locks that allow for one to leave the windows open a small amount but locked. They DO decrease the size of the opening though because they are set into the existing frame. In fact, my 8000 BTU living room air conditioner does not fit into the window it used to fit into. The windows also have an annoying lip (like glass shower doors on a bathtub) at the bottom that virtually prevents one's having a window sill big enough to put plants on or to let the cat sit on when the window is open. Window air conditioners do not sit well on this bottom lip either.

Jeff replaced second floor windows and installed a storm door in our front entrance. I have previously worked with him too. He is an outstanding contractor. I have done a lot of renovations in our 120 years old house and Jeff is among the best that you can find. His price is fair, not the cheapest in town, but customer service is top notch. We had so much problem with our storm door since it is a very large door but he was on the spot with the issue and he ended up re-ordering another storm door. His crews are also outstanding, I really like them and I highly recommend Jeff for any window replacement project that anyone has. He sometime gets busy and slow on returning my email, but at the end, he did an excellent job on the project. I am very satisfied with our windows replacement project.

Jeff came and measured and gave us a quote. When we went with him, he ordered the windows after we gave him a check for 1/3 of the total to order the windows. When the windows arrived, he installed them promptly in about 2 days. He did a quality job, for a reasonable price. Everything was done when he said it would be done, it cost what he said it would cost, and he didn't leave a mess (even though the house is very old with old plaster walls). Windows look great on the inside and out. What more could you want?

I had a window whose sill had dropped down a bit and for which I thought there was a water leak into the house and hence I thought a replacement window was needed. I left voicemail for Jeff and he returned my call quite promptly. Even though replacing one window is a small job, he came to my house within about two days to look it over and give me an estimate. As it turned out, he said the window did not need replacement, and he did not think it was leaking. Moreover, to trim the window back into position -- and fix some of the interior frame that was now out of position -- was too small a job for his company, but he could ask one of his crew if he would take this small job on privately. That crew member contacted me the next day. Within two more days he came over -- with a full truck of equipment and the rest of Jeff's crew -- and within 90 minutes they had the window properly positioned, the outside resealed for further insurance against leaks, and everything in the room left as clean as when they arrived. I really appreciate that Jeff did not try to sell me a window replacement that wasn't needed. I think he has an excellent crew. I will definitely call Jeff if I have future window repair or replacement needs.

The job was a sucess done quick and professionally and at no charge was a great plus for me. I would reccomned and use them when ever I need window work done.
Description of Work: Contacted Pro Windows and asked to fix expansion gaps in picture window in dining room. While at my home Jeff fisher notice a different window had a manufacture default in the gasket (harvey window) said window can be replaced free of charge because of warranty. Jeff measured window out wrote down serial #s and contacted Harvey for replacement. He emailed me 2 days later saying the window was in production and will contact me back to set up the installation. Shortly after got a call to set up time for installation at my convience which was a big help. The Pro window employee showed up, he was professional and clean and put on booties right away. He again measured out window and went over details with me prior to starting to make sure everything was correct. Laid down work-mats thru-out his work area to protect my home. He was polite and curteous and made my 4 year old laugh a few times. Within a few hours picture window was replaced and while replacing the window the expansion gap problem was fixed as well. Pro windows decided not to charge me to fix that problem becuase that had to open up the windows any way to fix the default issue.

Description of Work: I needed to have 2 windows replaced. Because I am a contractor I wanted to do the work myself but after hearing about Jeff Fisher I decided to hire him for a consultation. He responded immediately to my inquiry and returned my calls promptly, His attitude was very professional and he was very confident about his work. We even discussed an option of rebuilding the windows (which date back to 1870s) which was not part of his business but he gave me advice and recommended other companies that could do it.

The work went well. The workmen showed up on time, worked quickly, did a good job, and cleaned up before they left.
