I contacted Joe regarding a leaking bulkhead. He asked for pictures to perform a free estimate. Not only was he able to tell me what was wrong over the phone, it was an easy fix! He called me within an hour of me sending the photos and talked me through how to clear up my issue and not only that, Went above and beyond by calling the next day to make sure that my problem was solved. I was not even a previous customer and I happened to find Joe through the Internet. He also was able to give me a lot of information about bulkheads and how to continue to look for problems. I will have no hesitation calling him if I should have an issue in the future and definitely recommend him to others.

I am the type of guy who will spend 3 hours researching to make sure I pick a good person to do work on my house and I created an Angie's account to give Joe this review; he owns and operates The Bulkhead Man Inc. Stop researching other contractors and call him. He knows more about bulkheads, than anyone else you could work with. He calls it bulkheadology, there is a science to it, and Joe knows it. When I asked him, he said he's been working on bulkheads for 26 years (as of 2018), and has installed over 4,000 of them. I asked him a ton of questions and he was friendly, polite, and professional even though some of my questions were a bit stupid. The quality of the work was phenomenal, I was getting water every time it rained, and the door I had wasn't insulated and extremely drafty. After he was done, we got 1.5 inches of rain and I didn't get a drop of water, the insulated door seals so tightly, that when I open it, not only can you hear the suction, but the bulkhead doors rattle. Joe shows up with a crew of a few guys, if you want to hang around and watch what they're doing, they're hysterical and extremely hard working. They do a lot of jobs together and you can tell by their teamwork and all the laughing. Joe's getting a lot of attention recently and he's very busy, so call him. I'm extremely happy with the work he did at my house and you will be too.

Joe was responsive and professional during the whole process. We were a little surprised at the longer lead time, but went with him based on the strong reviews we read. We realized later that the lead time was because he and his crew were so busy earning other excellent reviews! He checked in to let me know when they'd be coming before each of the 2 visits- one day to remove the old drafty, leaky wooden bulkhead and pour the concrete base, and one (the day after Thanksgiving!) to install the new steel bulkhead. We were out of town that day, so he even texted photos so that I'd see the finished work. Joe always responded promptly when I had questions about the product or which paint to use. We've dealt with a number of contractors for our old house, and Joe and his crew are BY FAR the best example of how it's done right!

I made an appointment and Joe came right out. He explained the problem and what he would do to fix it. He answered all my questions, was polite and professional and gave me a good price. He installed the new door and called after it poured rain, to be sure there were no issues. I am very happy to have this taken care of. I wish all contractors were as nice, honest and pleasant to work with.

Joe and hes crew were fantastic, arrived on time and performed work as stated in contract. You wouldn't even know the work was done. the only thing left behind was a new bulkhead. Would recommend them to anyone that needs a new bulkhead doors or a complete unit installed.

If I could give A+ for everything I would! The Bulkhead Man (and his team!) is responsive, professional, and do an incredible job. They left our house and the surrounding area cleaner than the way they found it. The workmanship was outstanding - and our bulkhead was in the running for one of the worst he's seen. The owner is involved and works hard alongside his team. Not only is he professional, but an incredibly nice person. If you need a bulkhead replaced, the name says it all - The Bulkhead Man!

Joe was great. Evaluated our problem (water coming into basement thru bulkhead). Suggested solution and made it happen, fast. Very happy with the quality, cost and work. Highly recommend.

The bulkhead work was superb. The approach to re-building the underlying bulkhead foundation was well thought out, and creative. Joe used the best materials and the workmanship was top-rate. No corners were cut regarding the concrete work, waterproofing and sealing, customized build of the bulkhead itself,and attention to the durability and longevity of the work. I could detect Joe's professionalism from the start. He knows his trade, was professional and prompt at all times. Joe is a role model for contractors, and i recommend him highly to others who are addressing bulkhead work.

Joe and his team did a great job removing our old rusty bulkhead door and replacing it with a new one. We have an old house, so we had to have a custom made door. It was done earlier than expected and done very professionally. If you need a new bulkhead, this is the place to call.

A bulkhead is one of those things that is needed but not thought of as a design element. But Joe made it look SWEET, clean lines and install that was perfect. Now I want to show it off. I am seriously amazed and how great it works and looks. He supported the door with a new concrete foundation, painted it, sealed it on the install and now its perfect. I have no worries now about the bulkhead door. Its a piece of Art. I highly recommend!

The best experience we ever had with a contractor! We recieved calls back, they showed up when they said they would & no hidden costs. Because they we so good we didn't even get other estimates. Their work ethics alone sold the job. The work and the clean up was fantastic. Joe and Mike were curtious and pleasant to work with. Would highly recommend them.

Joe was very professional but also made you feel comfortable from the initial consultation through to the installation. He and his assistant Mike did a great job with the insulation and left the area clean.

Joe and his partner Mike obviously take great pride in their work. He responded to calls and emails promptly and was always in touch between the times he took the initial measurements and finished the job. The workmanship on the concrete work, painting, color-matching etc was spectacular, and the clean-up was comprehensive. They would not leave until we had gone over all the particulars of operation and maintenance and had been assured that I was happy with the job. That night it rained and I was thrilled to see not a drop of moisture inside the bulkhead. Joe will be coming back to do some work on the inside stairway and door at the bottom of the bulkhead stairs. Although he typically doesn't do doors and stairs, if the work is associated with a bulkhead installation Joe will follow through and make sure the whole area is functional and attractive. It was a pleasure to have these guys working on my property. They are friendly, considerate and extremely accommodating to all our needs and requests.

Working with Joe was a pleasure from start to finish. This is a man who obviously loves his work - and it showed in every aspect of our project. He came to check the site and explained that he could not only give us a great bulkhead, but could also fix the concrete around it at the same time. He told us EXACTLY what to expect, how much it would cost, stuck with the timeline he gave us, and took away all of the debris at the end of the job. When he came to pour the concrete, Joe saw that we had some extra painted shingles and took one with him so that he could match our house color better than what we had originally ordered. Now our bulkhead blends into the house instead of being the eyesore it was. It's weather-tight, doesn't fall on our heads when we open it, and we can actually walk out to the backyard from the cellar without having to walk through and around the house to get there. It's the little things in life that make such a difference. We can highly recommend The Bulkhead Man Inc. without reservation.

Joe was friendly, courteous, and professional. He gave us an estimate the year prior and came exactly the same almost a year later. He got the work done as estimated. The bulkhead looks great and keeps out the weather.

Upon original contact Joe responded to my request the next day. It only took a few days to get an inspection scheduled. He provided a written quote for the project and there were no hidden costs or exrtra charges when the project was completed. The work was scheduled and he showed up on time. Joe did the very best job of anyone, ever, in our 45 years living in this house. He always returned my phone calls promptly and answered countless questions courteously. Our bulkhead was larger than standard size. Joe took out the old bulkhead and replaced it with a solid, perfectly fitting new one. The concrete work he did is perfect and he cared about the details -- left no gaps between the old aluminum siding and the new bulkhead, filling them instead with matching siding, and cleaned up the area 100%. it's an awesome job!
