Jeff came to my house the end of March to give me an estimate for replacing the chipped blue-stone stairs in the front of my house. He suggested granite would be better as it would match the curbing around the front yard. The patio in the back yard was small and starting to sink in one corner. He gave me an estimate within a couple of days. It was comparable to other estimates. The work was delayed due to sewer/ water line construction that was going on in the street. As soon as the street was passable, Jeff's crew came out. They removed the old blue-stone steps and existing railings in the front and replaced the steps with granite and later put the railings back in place. In the back yard, they removed the old patio. Part of an old sidewalk was also removed. The patio was enlarged to meet up with the porch stairs and also to extend a little further into the yard. The bottom stair was cement and was too narrow. This stair was widened and a piece of blue-stone was put on it. The patio is blue-stone also and a tapered curbing was put around it. As the sidewalk was removed, the patio now meets up with the stairs from the porch It looks absolutely beautiful! The work was done timely and carefully. They cleaned up everyday. It was a 2 or 3 day job and they showed up promptly. Jeff offered several very good suggestions ie getting rid of the old sidewalk and widening the bottom stair. I would definitely recommend them.

We had wide cracks in our fieldstone foundation and worried it would lead to leaks & pests. We contacted the company through angie's list and within 3 business days, a rep from the company called to schedule an appointment. When he arrived, he examined the foundation inside & out. He told us that the work to be done didn't require a professional hand and recommended products and simple fixes that could be done ourselves. We were extremely impressed by his honesty & appreciated the suggestions since he could've easily talked us into something we obviously didn't need. The whole time he was friendly and openly addressed our concerns

I cannot understand why some companies would invent work to be done. If there is a problem it needs to be addressed. If there is no issues, there is no need to come up with one. There is plenty of work out there for whomever is honest and I will never give up on honesty. It is for sure the best policy. We all deserve to be respected and I will give to others what I want for myself and my family. Cheers

Jeff, Bruno and their team were great. Our project involved the demotion of rotted timber and stucco retaining walls which extended under a deck with very little headroom. They had no issues with working in the tight space and were careful to not disturb the existing deck. With the old wall removed, they installed a beautiful new stone retaining wall, bluestone stairs and a small patio. Jeff was responsive and the price was fair. The crew was pleasant and they kept the work area reasonably tidy and contained despite the extent of the construction. We wouldn't hesitate to call him again for another job.

Bruno was extremely responsive and arrived exactly on time. He was informative and honest with me and ultimately recommended no repairs for my foundation. Even though it was unrelated to the service call, he also discussed the steps to replace my front walkway, and took measurements and generated a quote the next day. I'm just waiting for my deck to be built and I will definitely be calling them back to do the quoted work. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: MasonWorks did a foundation evaluation for some cracks that I had noticed. While they were there, they also evaluated for replacement of my walkway with brick pavers, and driveway replacement.

Starting with the proposal and estimate, and continuing through to some minor fixes after the job was complete, Jeff and his team were responsive, thorough, and professional. Before we even decided to go with MasonWorks, Jeff came to our house several times to talk with us about the best options for fixing our old sidewalk and related drainage problems. He answered all of our questions, and made us feel very confident that we would get a great result. After we accepted his estimate (which was comparable to several others that we had gotten), he was flexible in working with us to schedule around some other work we were having done. When his team came out to do the work, they were very professional and extremely hard working. They got through the entire job in two (long!) days, did a great job cleaning up, answered all of my questions, and made sure to stop and ask me questions if they weren't sure exactly what I wanted. Several days after the job was done, I noticed that a few pavers had developed small 'craters' that weren't there when the job was first done. I reached out to Jeff and emailed him a picture. He told me not to worry, and that he and the paver company stand behind the product. He sent a couple of his guys over the same day, they replaced the problem pavers, and now everything looks great! I would recommend Jeff and his team to anyone looking for hardscape landscaping services, and will definitely use them again in the future if we need similar work done!

We had other contractor to do snow removal for us. We were not really happy because they were not very reliable and impossible to contact during a snowstorm. Therefore we were in the look for new contractor. We found Masonwork through Angie's List. Bruno was very easy to work with and prompt and professional. Over the season they always get to our property at a reasonable time. We understand that we are not always their first stop but they do us to everybody at a reasonable amount of time. And these guys work 24 hours a day. Bruno is always contactable either by phone or email and got back to us quickly. If we are wondering when they are going to be here, we could just call or email. They are priced reasonably (charged per storm and based on inches). We will use them again this coming season.

Masonworks was extremely responsive and professional on each occasion I dealt with them, which was a lot this winter. As a property manager, Masonworks has the snow removal contract on many of our buildings. Each property had their snow removed in a timely manner, and Masonworks would return to make sure there were no ice issues after their initial visit. MRG highly recommends them. We look forward to working with them again next year!

These guys are very professional and stick to their word. I am a demanding customer and while its hard to find a contractor (other than custom for a lot more mnoney) who would be responsive and flexible as well as not cut corner on midum size project Jeff and his team were. We did have couple of misunderstandings alone the way, and I was particularly sensetive to details coming out of nearly disasters pool building project these guys in the end stood by their work and even had to do extra work without cost to me The craftsmanship is very goos as my wife was on site all day and watch the crew work - so I know that first hadn. Quality was not sacrifiesed neither was time Pleased with overall project and highly recommend these guys to anybody

The owner of the company came out and inspected our foundation and basement floor. He reassured us that the cracks in the basement floor were just caused by the house settling (it was build in '93) and to not be worried about it when deciding to finish our basement. He was punctual, polite and professional. He even got on a knee to speak to me 3 year old daughter at her level which is rare to see today. I will definitley use this company in the future.

I used Masonworks for 2012/2013 snow removal. They made a big deal about being the absolute best service and for the first few snowfalls they were very good. But then quality and punctuality dropped off. They weren't terrible, but the issue is the price. They are INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE. One snow fall, they charge me $1800 to plow my driveway. At the end of the season I told them their quality did not justify the price and that I had far more competitive quotes. They basically told me to screw off?which I did. I am now with a plowing service that is 50% of the price and equivalent or better service. Masonworks talks a good game, but don't deliver and certainly isn't worth it.

Response from MasonWorks LLC
We had this client for the past season and not this season. I am very shocked with his report as it is not a reality of what happened. Our prices are set before the season starts and we have a price scheduled based on the amount of snow fall (per inch cost based on every 3" of snow fall and a set price for every inch after 12" of snow fall). We presented a price to him and he agreed and signed a contract with us. We never had a single complaint of the client and this is what seems to be even more strange having this report now, more than one year after he decided to cancel the services. He called us late October last year and proposed we did his snow removal for half of the price of last season. We candidly denied but we never told him to screw off. We are educated perplex and educated people do not tell anyone to screw off. There will never be a day we will say such a thing to anyone as we do respect any and everyone. If he found a better service for half of the price it goes on his advantage but to say that we do not offer a good service it is an absolute lie. We have more than 250 snow removal clients and everyone is happy with the work we offer. The snow fall to which he is referring that cost $ 1,80-0.00 is the one we had last season and it dumped 27" of snow and we charged him according to what we had agreed in our signed contract. I can say without any doubts that the client is lying and he is showing a lack of respect for us as person and for our services. I respect the fact that he was looking for better prices but I do not respect what he just said about us because it doesn't represent the truth of who we are and what we do. I wish him luck but I can guarantee he will at some point also complain about the "equivalent or better service" he has now for "50%" of the price we were charging him. We will always try to please our clients but every now and then someone will be unhappy, even if it is 1 year after the fact. Fortunately for us and our immense number of clients our stands and reports with Angie's List are more than 98% A Grades. It seems we are doing what it takes to keeps so many people happy with our services. Cheers

Scheduled an appointment several days in advance, took time off but noshow! ----------------------------------- EDIT 3/6/14 Contractor replies: "I had a meeting with the above client yesterday February 7th, 2014 at 8 AM. An unexpected personal problem came by and I had to attend to it. I did call the client to re-schedule but he never returned my phone call. We all can have events that may mess our schedules and a little understanding goes a long way. He could have called me back. I just do not understand why such a hurry to give a bad report on a so highly rated company on all subjects like we are. I am sure he wouldn't be so prompt on giving a good report on a job well done. Well, part of dealing with life and with people. I am sure that anyone who reads all of our more than 300 reports will have a good understanding of how committed we are with our clients Cheers" What a ridiculous reply from a so-called reputable company! So it was the customer fault to leave negative feedback for taking time off from work and wait for a no show contractor and I should be the one to "understand" things like this happen?! The contractor did call me back to reschedule a day after, not before! You expect me to take another day off to wait for you and HOPING you'll show up this time? I have been dealing with contractors for years on numerous projects, including a whole house rehab and to tell you the truth, i have heard tons of excuses, and "unexpected personal problem that I need to attend to" wasn't the first and won't be last.

Jeff, Bruno and team were responsive from the time of the quote through the duration of the project. They were punctual and professional, and cleaned up the work area each day. The re-pointing, in particular, created significant dust, but the team tidied up each evening. Unexpectedly, there was other outside work being done on my home at the same time as the masonry work and Jeff's team willingly coordinated with the other crew. I would recommend MasonWorks, including to residents of Boston who may have space and parking considerations. Jeff's team seems to have a good grasp of the nuances of working in Boston.

Thanks for such a great report. Life is full of challenges. Working in Boston makes it a bit more interesting, but where there is a will there is a way and we are, for sure, willing to do our job. When our clients calls us it is because they have an issue that needs to be solved and we will tackle it until it is done. If plans are made in advance the job gets easier. We enjoy what we do and are willing to make concessions in order to get the work done. We have no problem on working with other crews as long as there is room for all of us. Cleaning up is a must. A neath work place is pleasant to everyone.

The experience went very well. Jeff responded to my inquiry for an estimate within a day. He came out to survey the job a few days later and my written estimate was e-mailed promptly. Although the estimate quoted the work to be 2-3 days, the work was finished in one day. The workers were very timely, polite and neat. The finished product was exactly as I wanted it. The clean up was thorough. My walkway and stairs are beautiful. I would definitely call MasonWorks again and recommend them to everyone.

It is great to hear that our clients are having great experiences working with us. There are so many non-committed " contractors" out there that it makes our job make more difficult. I like to make sure that what I promise comes true and if there is to be a surprise it needs to be a good one. I will leave the bad surprises to others. Masonworks is committed with quality and precision. Or clients comes first.

I called Masonworks for a quote and Bruno quickly came out and promptly provided a quote. The project was dormant for a few months as I waited for the City to redo the sidewalk (and change the elevation to improve drainage) as I needed our new walkway to line up wit the new sidewalk height. The City sidewalk project was delayed many months but Masonworks was able to schedule the job within a few weeks of the City showing up to do the sidewalk. There was also an issue that the stone we chose was only available by the pallet and we needed 1.1 pallets for the job, meaning we would have to buy two pallets (costing significantly more than budgeted). In discussion with Bruno we used a complimentary stone for the border of the walkway and used one pallet of the primary stone for the main part of the walkway. Overall they did a great job, were on time, showed up everyday, finished the job, and did a very good job of cleanup. We are very happy overall and would hire Masonworks again.

Bruno and his Team did a wonderful job installing a dry well, and repairing a section of our foundation wall. Our downspout was causing water damage. Bruno and his Team came by the house and recommended a plan to ensure the water was being sent away from the house properly by digging a trench along the backside of our home, and ultimately into a dry well. I contacted Masonworks via email about our asphalt driveway that is completely broken up. There is no real retaining wall, just the asphalt paved up around the edges. We would also like to add steps through the retaining wall. Jeff emailed me back that day to say he would be providing an estimate that week. 3 days later Jeff called when he was onsite and we discussed the work I wanted done. That day he sent me an email with an estimate and a digital drawing of the work. The proposal was exactly what I had envisioned and discussed. The total price was over our current budget, so we will be waiting to have the work done at a later point.

I contacted Masonworks through Angie's list email. Jeff contacted me and arranged a meeting onsite. I wanted to know my options and their associated costs. Jeff was very helpful and taught me everything I needed to know about my options. He also provided me with estimates for three different options I was considering. In the end we decided to have the stained pavers replaced and the entire driveway sealed. The work was performed promptly and well. The driveway looks great and you can't tell the new pavers from the old ones at all. Jeff also followed up with me a couple months later to ensure I was happy with the work still.
Description of Work: A car mishap leaked fluid splotches on a portion of our driveway. The stain could not be removed because the driveway had never been sealed by the previous owner (we were unaware of this).
