Dabbs Lock

I made an appointment over 1 month age for Sept 1 to change the locks for my new tenants. One week before, I texted twice to 2 different numbers to confirm the appointment. He could have just texted 'yes' to my question. In addition, I called one of the numbers and the answering service took my message. But there were no responses to any of the attempts at confirmation. So not the end of the world and my tenants will have to wait while I find another locksmith who knows how to follow through. Very disappointing considering I used him once before without any issue.

Dabbs Lock was just absolutely amazing. He thought ahead for me and helped me. I could have never done what he did or even thought about doing what he did. It was really, incredibly helpful when I got the tenants in. He really thought ahead in terms of masters. He gave me a detailed list of which key goes where. Of course, I just have one key which is awesome. He left a dog walker fence key. The best thing about him is that he figured out a way to key my house that would be helpful for me and any situation I live in.

We needed to have keys reset on two locks at our new house, and possibly have a lock installed on a basement door that was secured with just a padlock. The locksmith Dabbs sent was prompt, professional and courteous, and explained everything he was doing thoroughly. As I had somewhat suspected, the basement door frame wouldn't allow for the installation of a lock, but he provided some other suggestions that we could do ourselves. He then rekeyed the two locks, in the process adjusting one of them so that it worked better. Four keys for each lock plus labor came to $62.50; since we had an Angie's List coupon, the total came to $42.50, a very good deal for a house call. A few months later everything is still working fine. I would absolutely call upon Dabbs again for any locksmithing needs.

DJ was extremely responsive and punctual. He explained the options, explained what the limitations were of our ancient front locks, and completed all work quickly and professionally. Eight months later, some of the keys have bent with normal use, so the quality of the material is iffy. The front lock mechanism sticks, and another lock is more difficult to work. Not sure if that is just normal wear and tear, or a problem with the components. That is why I rated quality as a C.

After I moved into a new place, and after various painters and others had finished their work there, I wanted to rekey all of the locks, since I didn't know who the old owners had given keys to. Dabbs was prompt in getting back to me and scheduling an appointment, and the locksmith showed up promptly at the scheduled time and did that part of the job with no problems. Unfortunately, I also needed help with a lock on a sliding glass door that was just not functioning, in that the latch was not grabbing onto the door frame. He did not know immediately what to do to solve that problem, but took some pictures, called the shop, and promised to get back to me. But then he never called, and didn't respond to the two messages I left. I needed his expertise, and he just didn't follow through.

Dabbs was good. The price was a little expensive for a ten minute fix. My whole lock setting was loose and they showed me how to fix the problem by jamming match sticks into the lock. It tightened the whole setting and he said it would last for years.

Sadly for me but probably very good for him, he's so busy that he doesn't have time for follow up. I waited a week before reaching out to see what was going on and found out there were parts on order. He did return my call and left a message saying he'd be in touch the next day or latest the day 2 days to make the appointment for installation. Another week plus went by and I never heard from him. I understand that with such great ratings on Angie's List he must be in extremely high demand but had I been told this upfront (setting the customer's expectations) I would have been able to decide if I could wait or needed to move onto another vendor for faster service. I waited 2 weeks and reached out for another update via email this time. He did get back to me via email saying things were hectic but by then I had moved onto another company. Again I understand being so busy but sometimes the customer just needs to know this up-front so we can either pass or wait.

He is confident, a nice man, arrives on time, very helpful with solving the problem. He was excellent, personable easy to talk to.

Serviceman came right out to the house. Did quick work diagnosing the problem. Quickly replaced the defective part and reassembled the lock. They even reminded me that I was eligble for a $20 discount since I used Angie's list. The house call, parts, and labor with the Angie's list discount was much less than I anticipated. They did great work!

Great! Dabbs Lock has been our go-to locksmith since we moved into the area. Dabbs is very efficient, professional, friendly, and he does great work. I'm sure that I will be calling them again soon!

DJ had come to rekey our locks when we moved to a new home but I forgot to ask for the original. When I called and requested the old key, he explained he discards the client avoid confusion between old and new keys. However, he very graciously offered to come rekey a door that I forgot to have him rekey the first time, free of charge. We agreed on a time, and he emailed the day before to confirm the time. He was punctual and fast. We absolutely would hire him again.

The technician showed up on time. The job was relatively easy. He completed the work and accepted my coupon. I wrote him a check. I recommend these people.

DJ was very responsive and able to schedule us on the day we wished for him to come. He showed up very punctually, and he and his helper rekeyed our two locks (front door and back door) in a short amount of time. He even tightened the doorknob on the back door when he noticed it was loose. He provided 4 keys and we paid exactly what he quoted us. Only complaint was that he walked away with our old key, which I would've liked to keep. That is minor though. We were very satisfied and would hire him again.

The locksmith was incredibly courteous and professional, from the first call through payment. We scheduled a time for the day after I initially called, and he arrived within the prescribed 2-hour window. He even called 20-minutes before arrival to ensure I was ready. The work was performed quickly and DJ even took the time to explain various options I had available to me. I couldn't be happier with the service and will definitely call Dabbs for my future locksmithing needs!

Courteous and helpful in explaining what would do, options, etc. Flexible in scheduling, responsive to calls and need to change appointment time. Careful to give notice about when arriving. Pleasant person. Quick but thorough in completing job (eg double-checked all 10 keys made worked for all 6 locks). Price seemed reasonable. Left very good impression - would happily recommend.

The locksmith was able to come out the next day (non-emergency) and arrived within the window we agreed to. The work was done quickly (20-30 minutes) and he also tightened up the fixtures in addition to rekeying. One of the locks used to be difficult and isn't anymore, but the locksmith said this was a natural side effect of the rekeying.

After moving into our new home, we hired Dabbs to re-key our locks. DJ has great availability since he comes out in the evenings. He was able to meet me after I got home from work one night. He and his colleague were very fast in re-keying our two deadbolts and two handle locks. They put all the locks on a single key, which is nice for us. They also noticed that one of the deadbolts was beginning to wear down. A few weeks later, we had DJ back to replace the worn deadbolt. Since he was returning within a short window, he did not charge a fee to come out again. DJ is extremely professional, efficient, and punctual. We'll call him again if we ever need work done.

I have used Dabbs twice and have found them very responsive, knowledgeable and helpful, and I've been happy with their work.

DJ was fantastic. He has very flexible hours and was able to accomodate our hectic schedule easily. When he arrived I was getting an estimate from a carpenter and managing my toddler while showing him the locks and managed to forget about one of the four exterior doors! Not only did he take care of the three doors I originally showed him in record time and an extremely professional manner, but he came back that evening around 6:30 when I realized I'd forgotten about our basement door. He got to the house 30 minutes after I called, had the remaining lock matched to the rest in under 10 minutes, and didn't charge me anything extra for the fourth lock. Great guy, even my toddler loved him! Really resonable prices and quick response time. HIGHLY recommended.

perfectly normal experience

Terrific experience, highly recommend DJ and his company. He was very responsive to our phone calls, came out immediately to perform the estimate, and gave us cost scenarios where we could save money by buying our own hardware and having him install it. He came back to do the work about a week later and everything works great. He also found during the installation that one of the deadbolts didn't need to be swapped out, and in doing so saved us $40. Couple that with a $20 Angie's List coupon, and we were very pleased. High quality, fast and friendly service. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend DJ and Dabbs Lock.

I contacted DJ by email and explained I had two doors which needed to be rekeyed. We set a date and he came at the scheduled time. It was a pleasure to have someone so professional. He was courteous. Stated he wanted to save me money by repairing a lock as opposed to replacing it. I would certainly call him again, if I had need.
