Dabbs Lock

DJ was great. Arrived on time, did the work, and cleaned up. Will call him back when we are ready to replace the original mortise lock on the front door.

After moving in to our new home, we found that the side door was secured only by a very flimsy doorknob lock - not safe at all for the neighborhood we were in. We called Dabbs Lock to install a real deadbolt and plate on the side door, and also to re-key the locks. D.J. arrived late, but he called ahead of time to let us know... he said his previous job had been an eviction, and the police had to be called in. Once he arrived, he installed the deadbolt and plate quickly and professionally, and re-keyed all of the locks to use the same key, which is convenient... even on our lock which is a very old model and which we doubted could be refitted to a modern key. While he was working, he was happy to answer our questions about the doors, the locks, and general security tips. For instance, he showed us how our side door was metal-plated, and much more secure than it looked; he also confirmed that our existing front door locks were secure, and getting anything extra (which we had been considering) would be a waste of money. He arrived around 5:30 pm and stayed late until the job was finished, which was after 7 pm. He gave us very professional, courteous service, and lots of great advice. We would definitely work with him again.

I am thrilled with the service provided by Dabbs Lock. I will definitely be calling them again nexttime I have any lock or security problems. The lock on our Andersen patio door was broken. I called Dabbs and DJ returned my call very quickly. I described the problem on the phone and he said he knew exactly what was broken and that he'd make sure to bring the replacement part when he came to my house. Everything about Dabbs service was punctual, professional, and generally awesome. As promised, he called when he was about 30 minutes from my house. He arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem as what he thought when we spoke on the phone. In a few minutes he had the lock disassembled, the new part installed, and throughly lubricated the internal parts to help make everything work smoothly. He put everything back together, demonstrated the lock functioning properly, and gave me some good tips to help keep the lock functioning for many years. DJ was professional, polite, and skilled, and I highly recommend him.

My son locked our bedroom door. I consulted Angie's List and picked Dabbs based on the ratings. I called and he was very professional and helpful. He estimated he could be here in an hour and that the job would be quick. He quoted $60. He was here within an hour. He completed the job within a few minutes. I let him know we found Dibbs on Angies List and knocked $20 off the quoted price. So I only paid $40.

They were very good. Came out quickly within a few hours. They didn't push us for extra service.

My front door has been difficult to enter for years because we had to jiggle the key for it to catch in order to enter. One night I was completely unable to enter. The reason was that the bottom lock where you press the lever to get in (not because of the top key lock where I had to jiggle the key) was completely stuck. I called Dabbs Lock the next morning and explained what was happening. DJ told me he would be able to come to my house that day and told me a time he thought he'd make it. About an hour before DJ was to arrive, he called to say that he was running a bit behind and that he wouldn't be more than a half hour later. He ended up being just a few minutes later than his original ETA. DJ pulled apart my top lock where I had trouble with the key and made adjustments, and then took apart the bottom lock and found a plastic piece that was now wedged where the lever needed to move. DJ was professional, clearly knew exactly what he was doing, fixed my problem quicky, and even made me extra keys. His price was more than fair. He charged me for a service call only. I couldn't ask for better a better experience and would, without hesitation, recommend DJ with Dabbs Lock to anyone requiring a locksmith.

Mr. Dabbs from Dabbs Lock Company was great. I would recommend him. He did good work. He came right away. He was very punctual. We had some old hardware that he replaced. It wasn’t just locks; he changed things that were beyond the scope of what I was asking him to do. So, that was very helpful. He wasn’t terribly expensive either, it was good value. I would use him again in the future.

DJ did a great job on all our locks. He quickly changed out our locks soon after we asked him to come. He was also very willing to work with us in trying to decide on which door to install the digital keypad lock. After taking apart of of our doors and realizing it wouldn't work, he was happy to put the old door back together and put the keypad on the other door. He accepts credit card as well, using this cool iphone technology called SQUARE. Overall, I highly recommend DJ's services.

I called yesterday and told him I was having trouble with my front door lock. He asked me if I needed him to come that day. I said no. We scheduled for the next day. He came precisely on time, assessed the problem -broken cylinder in the lock - and replaced the cylinder within about 10 minutes.I wrote him a check and he left. He was very friendly and polite throughout.

The total price was a bit more than I had expected, even with some discounts. Next time, I'd ask for a detailed estimate first. Otherwise, no problems!

I called a few locksmiths for quotes yesterday and Dabbs had the best price. I spoke with DJ, and he gave me a quote and explained the breakdown of the cost. I called him back today to book the job, and he said he might have availability today or he could come the next day or next week. Because I was flexible, I told him he could call me later in the afternoon if he had time, as long as he gave me 30 minutes notice. He called a few hours later and arrived at the agreed upon time. He asked me how many keys I wanted and gave me the three that I wanted at no extra charge from the original estimate. It took very little time and all was good and professional. I would definitely use him/them again.

Called dabbs lock and got a call back promptly. Scheduled an appointment for the next day he came on time had everything he needed did the job quickly. No mess, great price very professional. Will use him from now on.

Bottom line - DJ worked on three different doors, installed new knobs or locks on each, and went above and beyond to ensure that our electronic lock worked properly. Dabbs Lock excelled on every criterion - punctuality, communication, research, advocacy, price, and - last but not least! - locksmithing. I do not hesitate to give him my highest recommendations, and I would hire him again in a jiffy if additional locksmithing needs arise. Thanks, DJ!

I had some issues with the lock because it was some kind of a cheap lock. He was a very personable guy. He was totally polite, even though he had a frustrating job trying to replace the cheap lock; he jerry-rigged something, so he did not have to replace the whole unit. He was able to do it and completed the work just fine. The whole experience was excellent. The work turned out great. He gave me four keys. I would rate him highly and would use him again in the future - he is the only guy I would use actually.

He was very good. It was not so easy finding a lock smith to do one for an antique desk when the key was lost long ago. I called about 6 or 7 lock smiths and some of them did not even know what a skeleton key was and others don?t do it at all. This company came to the house and handcrafted one and they were here only for an hour and charged only $25. He was great. I liked that they had the skill set, which is uncommon and no one else that I called had it. When it wasn?t one of the standard ones from his ring, he crafted it from a template right here at the house. I did not have to take the desk off and take it to him and he came within 48 hours, so I did not have to wait long. He was also very polite and professional. He came to the house in the snow, was here for an hour and gave me two keys that he handmade. I would definitely recommend him to others.

I was in a panic because I thought I had locked my tenant and myself out of a rental unit. DJ actually answered the phone himself and couldn't have been more responsive or reassuring. He was here within an hour -- on a Saturday -- and discovered (yep, it was me) that I was using the wrong key. He charged a minimal fee, when others might have charged for a service call. I'd definitely call Dabbs Lock again.

We had a snafu as I was also seeing other contractors and he was running late and my cellphone batteries wasn't recharged. DJ did leave messages on my cell phone service saying he was running late, and he came back later in the evening to do the job, this time waiting for me as I battled rush-hour traffic. He was apologetic, pleasant, professional; I plan on calling him again.

DJ called be back quickly when I called, was easy to schedule, did an adjustment for free (a lock I tried to install myself but didn't do quite right), did a great job, and cleaned up nicely after himself. I'd definitely hire again!

Unbelievable! DJ called me back the day I contacted him AND showed up to view the job that afternoon. He came the next day to start the job (it was a Friday) and on Monday morning, he returned to furnish me with the keys. He was totally easy to work with, totally responsive, and did a great job!

He provided the best quality locksmithing for the most reasonable price I could find in the Somerville/Cambridge area. He was very patient with my questions and provided suggestions on what I could do to save money. In fact, he recommended that I replace one of the locks myself to save money and showed me how I could do it with a simple trip to Home Depot.
