Lee's Hardwood Floor Service

Received an estimate over the phone, appointment made within a week's time, workers arrived on time and worked quickly. One coat day one and second coat next morning. Our inquisitive black lab ran across the floors on day 2, leaving foot prints across the entire job. Incredible, incredible response...they came the following morning to re-sand(!) and re-poly the whole job. We were so grateful for the generosity of this company to charge so reasonably for the re-do...and to not make us feel worse than we already did! Our floors look beautiful and our dog has shiny feet!

I wouldn't expect to get the same price again but who knows. Sometimes contractors do work to keep the crew paid so they don't lose the team. As a real estate investor I have worked with a few floor refinishers before, frankly going with the lowest price available. When I called this guy, he asked me to describe the rooms and gave me a quote based on my description and my guess that it was 600-700 square feet. He quoted me $600 without seeing the place (kind of unsettling) and we set up an immediate date, I was looking at a May 1 move in for a tenant, so the work had to be done, but also dry. My wife wanted to go with water-based poly but Lee said he does restaurants with water-based ( low odor so they can do business the next day) and they have to do them again in six months, oil-based should last 10 years. The price is slightly higher for water-based. With oil-based, the big issue is odor. I was concerned that the oil based wouldn't cure in time for move in which would happen a few days after they were scheduled to be done with two coats (would have gone with three if there had been more time.) Lee said, oh just burn a candle and it take the smell away. Well, not really, it still has an odor weeks later, but the tenant never complained that the smell was an issue, maybe it is like "new car smell" to a tenant. The quality of the work was awesome. The edging detail was great, the floor had no puddling or thin patches. It might have helped the floor were put in well originally, (with an older house with wavy floors, puddling has been an issue with other companies.) I did do some good prep work, removing a railing that would have been hard to work around, but who knows, maybe I could have left it in, they did great edging work... I also put plastic & tape over the blinds and windows and kitchen appliances because the dust is usually insane with sanding, but again, I was pleasantly suprised how little dust creeped into places (it will happen even if you tape things off) and they did a great job cleaning up the apartment and didn't crap up the site, with overloaded trash bags full of sawdust and cigarette butts, which some companies have a reputation for doing. (I've seen it happen first hand more that once.) So my one big takeaway is what I felt like was a communication issue. I don't mean a language barrier, no problem there. It was just the exact time table was never communicated clearly, one day the guys showed up after 9 and I had to come back from work. when they didn't show up I assumed they were giving it a day to dry, but I was wrong. My mistake. So that is one thing that the contractor could do to help himself, but you should do for yourself, spell out exactly what will happen at what time on what day. I would definitely hire this company again & would definitely recommend them to a friend.

Industry standard is 3 coats of polyurethane; Lee's applies only 2, with the second being super thick, basically a lake before it is absorbed. My floors came out looking great, but I am a first time homeowner on a tight budget. I wouldn't recommend them for someone looking for a high quality job in an expensive home. I also had to pick up a Dunkin Donuts cup on my porch and cigarette butts on my lawn and driveway. They were available on very short notice (less than a week) and I am satisfied, but you get what you pay for.

We moved into this 100 year old house 3 months ago. The living room and dinning room floor badly needed refinishing. We also have a bedroom which we called it the "smelly cat room" since the former owner had a cat and we suspected that the cat was allowed to release itself in there. The room was was stinky even after we took out the old carpet. Anyway, long story short, we called Lee's and Thomas came over right on time, took a look at my 3 rooms ... he told me that even after sanding the "smelly cate room", there would still be stains but the smell should be gone. He also gave me a quote of $700 for all 3 rooms, which is more than reasonable (we had another guy who gave me a quote of $950 just for the "smelly cat room"). we figured that $700 really worth a shot. On the first day, 2 people came on time, very professional; they were done sanding and putting a coat on in 3 hours. Next day, they came back and applied another layer and they were done in about an hour or so. Overall, they did an amazing job. First of all, people told me that sanding the floor can be messy since there would be dust everywhere but it turned out, it wasn't the case ... they did a very good job cleaning. Second, my living room and dinning room floor look like new. For the "smelly cat room", there are visible stains but at least, it's not smelly anymore; besides, the floor actually look reasonable. In short, I highly recommend this company. Job well done!

They came out, gave us an estimate, and explained what they would do in each room. They were prompt, pleasant, and did a thorough job. We were very pleased with their work.

My husband and I contacted Tom Lee to provide an estimate for having our hardwood floors refinished. He did a great job, and his price was much cheaper than anyone else we contacted. He was friendly and punctual, and the job was finished in a couple days. People still comment on how great our floors look! We hope to work with him again and have recommended him to others.

They came for an estimate. Looked over the floors and disucssed the stain. They showed up on time and sanded different areas to test the stain color before we decided the color. They sealed off the other rooms and cleaned up after the sanding. They got all the dust! I was very pleased with the job. Their bid was very competitive with the others I obtained. I would use them again without hesitation. Nice experience all around.

Thomas is extremely responsive and flexible. I had to move his start date by a week with little notice and he was able to accommodate me. He came when he said and spent about 4 hours the first day, sanding and putting on the first coat of finish. This is messy work but we were pleased at how they were able to keep dust to a minimum. The second day they came back to put on the final coat. The experience the second day was not quite as good and they seemed very rushed - this is a much shorter work time because they don't need to do as much prep). When we inspected the floors they still looked rough and some clearly needed another coat. I called Thomas and he was VERY responsive, said he'd come the next day and give everything another coat. (He explained that sometimes the wood absorbs the finish more, particularly on the 90+ degree days we were having, and he doesn't always know until it all dries.) I also had wanted a matte finish which he said was not a problem. They came the third day, put on the final coat and the floors look good. I am very pleased with the work and feel that Thomas was quick to come and remedy the problem - I really appreciated that.

The service was excellent. They gave us a very competitive quote and finished the job in 2 days. They sanded and applied the first coat of lacquer on day 1, then a second coat on day 2. All of our slight stains came out, and relatively little dust was left behind. Lee was particular prompt in communicating with me.

I was moving into a new small house where the floors were dingy and had been painted a light gray in 2 rooms presumably due to some water stains on the floor. I obtained 2 quotes, Mr. Lee's was approximately 40% less the first quote I obtained, due in part to the fact he had an opening in his schedule the next day and wanted the job to fill the gap as long as I started the next day. His men showed up on time the next morning, worked very hard that day and were able to get the paint off the floor of the 2 rooms where the floor had been painted. The did a nice refinishing job and floors came out very well. They did a good job of vacuuming up the dust from the sanding - better than I anticipated.

Mr. Lee gave me a quote over the phone. On the day before the job (Sunday) he called me to reschedule because a problem so we moved the job from Mon. to Tues. Mr. Lee was extremely courteous and apologetic. The arrived punctually and the job went smoothly with excellant results. He charged $25 less than the quote after I asked about the senior discount listed on Angie's. I was told hat Mr. Lee will send me the receipt. I am very pleased with the way the foors came out and would readily use and recommend Mr. Lee's services in the future.

Total waste of time for me. I was really surprised they never called back to apologize. Perhaps they have so much work they don't need any more customers.

Great. The floor was stained twice to make it darker. I initially complained about stairs not being satisfactory, but they came back to revise and they looked much better.

GREAT! Communication was great, very punctual and polite. They kept the dust contained within the room and did a great job of cleaning up. The three workers were very courteous and VERY efficient. They were in and out in only 1 1/2 hours the first day. Returned the next day to finish the polyurethane. In the end, the floor looks GREAT!!!! We are so happy. The price was very competitive and completely reasonable and fair. We would use them again without hesitation.

Lee's came out on a Thursday morning to give an estimate. I called him later that afternoon to hire them. They started work the next Tuesday and were finished by Thursday. They were able to sand off a LOT of old black adhesive and under paper. We were thrilled with the price and even more thrilled with the result. Our 1880's house looks like a home now, instead of a daunting project. We love the look of the original floors, with their imperfections and could not be happier every time we walk in the door.

Did a great job. Great quality work. Showed up on schedule. Worked efficiently. Plan to hire him for other projects.

Lee's Hardwood Floor Service was very good. I received an estimate which was exactly what he said it would be. They worked while I was not at home and when I returned everything was immaculate. They arrived as scheduled and did a great job.

We called Lee's flooring for an estimate twice. The first time he quoted us a cost per square foot plus labor. The cost he quoted us was well over $1000 less than any other estimate and we were so surprised that we looked into getting the materials ourselves to see how the cost could be so low. The materials alone would have cost a minimum of $1300 for unfinished wood and $1500 for prefinished wood. So we called Lee's back and asked them to come out and give us an estimate, thinking that they would either explain the low cost or they would tell us they had made a mistake. We scheduled an appointment for 10am for five days following our phone conversation. We explained to Lee that we had already had estimates and that we needed the work done within 2 weeks since we were having furniture moved into the room. The day of the estimate no one showed up or called. When I called and spoke with Lee, the same person I had spoken with twice before, he told me he never made any appointment. When I replied that we had spoken before and had agreed on 10am that day he said no, he had nothing. I told him that we were not going to go ahead with his services and he didn't seem bothered or surprised in any way.

They had an Angie's List coupon in the magazine that I was able to use. I have used them before and had them come back to do the floors. They were really clean and didn't leave a speck of dust.

My experience with Lee's was excellent. They immediately returned my calls and emails. They were quick to access the job and provide an estimate. They started the job the day after the estimate and were completed 2 days later. The floors look great.

We had gotten several estimates and this company gave us the best price. They were able to get to the job quickly which was critical. They did their best that they had to work with. The floors improved immensely.

Very very quick response -- they scheduled the estimate for the day after I called them, and they scheduled the work for the following business day. The workmen showed up on time and worked quickly and to high quality standards. There's a very small gap between the flooring and one wall, because the wall is not entirely even; I'd thought they were going to use available materials to fill the gap so that the molding would cover it, but that didn't happen -- I think this was my failure to explain what I wanted, however.

Tom Lee was very quick to respond and arrived on time and provided a written estimate within 2 days of the visit. He was very honest and his crew did an amazing job. They went above and beyond to do a great job. Our floors look like new and the repair work is undetectable. Cleaned up beautifully as well.They even returned a week later and helped us remove some paint in 1 room left by the painters. They didn't charge extra for this service.

The floor was in good shape but there were wholes throughout from plywood being nailed into the floor and holes where old radiators used to be. They sanded, filled a lot of small holes and patched up larger ones. The floors like brand new!

They were very punctual and very polite. My husband called them the other day and they were available right away. Their price is reasonable and they are very accommodating.
