After getting a quote from Tao's hardwood floor, we wanted a second quote. So we called Lee's flooring. They came very quickly and gave me a quote about 2/3 of Tao's price. It was Thursday noon, we asked how quickly it could be done. Lee said they could start Friday morning and do the 3rd coating on Monday! So we hired him to do it. They taped my kitchen and master bedroom to prevent the dust. The re-finished the entire floor like new. The play area was installed with matching color of wood and the wood pieces were installed well. We are happy with their service. At the end we tried to use the $150 coupon from Angie's list (we forgot to mention this coupon when we got the quote), Lee agreed to give us $100 off. Overall, we are pleased.
Description of Work: We needed to install hardwood floor in the play area (about 10X12) and re-finish the entire house (about 800 ft of hardwood).

I did not have a good experience with Lee Flooring, though I am relatively satisfied with the final product and the cost. We bought our ranch house 2 years ago and the dining room is covered with an old installed carpet that has been there for years and years. The carpet was in pretty bad shape as you could imagine after years of food being ground into it. So I decided to have the carpet taken up and the hardwood floors underneath refinished (I pulled up a corner of the carpet to ensure there were hardwood floors). I called a number of hardwood floor refinishers on Angies List, but they almost all wouldn't take the job because it was too small; some wanted to charge a full days worth of work - $900 in order to "make it worth their while". I called Lee Flooring and Thomas Lee called right back and said they could do it for $300 and start on Monday. Even though his English wasn't that great, I trusted the number of positive Angies List reviews and his Super Service awards. He said he would be there at 10:30 on Monday. On Monday 19 September, Lee's Flooring showed up, 3 crewmen, none of whom spoke almost any English, but no Thomas Lee. However, they seemed to know what they were about, so they set right to work. After a while, the first issue arose, when I cam back in past the dining room and one of the workers pointed to one board slat on the floor next to a stone entryway had been installed, and communicated that hardwood had been replaced with regular wood. I said OK, we need to replace that, but he continued to lay the first coat over the plain wood board as if it was not going to be replaced. The 2nd issue occurred when one of the other workers handed me a large bolt that had gone through the hardwood floor and pointed out a nice round hole in the floor, but didn't seem like he was of the mind to fill in the hole until I asked him to do so. So they finished the first day and went to their truck to leave, indicating someone would be back tomorrow to finish the job. However, their truck wouldn't start, so they asked me for a jump! That didn't work either, so after about an hour, Thomas Lee showed up; it was clear that he wasn't coming in to see me so I went out and fetched him and brought him in to look at the floor. He was enthusiastic and said he would be buying a piece of hardwood floor and would replace the non-flooring piece tomorrow - he would be there at 10:30. Tuesday, 20 September, 10:30 comes and goes, 11:00 comes and goes so I call Thomas Lee. He says that he has to go pick up the board and they he would be there. I certainly did not want to know when he was picking up the board, but when he would be at my house to install! A half hour later he calls - the truck broke down again so they would be delayed. They showed at about 1:15; a crew of three (one that was the same as last time) but no Thomas Lee. Ok, I'm in this far so off to work they go. After a while my wife walks by their work and comes back and tells me "there's a gap". I say what do you mean a gap? She says a gap between the newly installed board and the walkway. Sure enough there is a noticeable gap between the walkway and the newly installed board. I ask the workers about it and they tell me I should go buy some caulk to fill it in! Needless to say, I felt that was their job, but they shrugged, indicating they didn't have any, so I called Thomas Lee. He seemed put out that I was bothering him and that he was doing me a favor for taking the job so cheaply (or words to that effect - his English is not that good). But after talking with his workers, they used some wood filler to plug the gap (its not great but it will do). They finished the job, collected their check (if I didn't include the Angies Discount, I would not have received it). Bottom line was that the floor looks good and the price was right, but the process to get there was not something I'd want to go through again.

The job was quoted for taking off carpet/sanding and refinishing the floor as it is. It was not quoted for any repair job that may required. We pointed out the issue to member after the floor was exposed and it is up to member to decide if he wants us to repair the floor. The workers only do the work that was quoted for. If member wants us to repair the floor, he must let me know so I can give him a quote. Customer did not tell me that he wants to repair the floor after we told him about the problem but expected that we will fix the floor without extra pay. He only communicated to me that he wants the repair after we finished sanding and applied the first coat of poly. We did what we agreed upon and we did our job well.

We ripped up the gross old linoleum in our kitchen, ready to tile over whatever awaited us, and discovered the first nice surprise our house has ever had for us: hardwood floors underneath. I found Lee's on Angie's List and they were just as described. Tom was very responsive when I called him, even on a weekend, and the guys showed up right on time and did a great job for a fair price. You can see before and after photos on my blog: http://www.jongorey.com/2011/09/rescuing-our-kitchen-from-1970s.html

Amazing. The price was fair. He was very honest. The guys were very reliable and hard working. The job was completed on time and looks even better then expected. This was a high end old floor and he did a high end job. I will use him again. He was the first person I found on angies list ever. I am impressed
Description of Work: They lightly sanded and applied Polly to an old wood floor. Tom called me back quickly to give a quote. Then visited location and reduced price from quote because he realized it wasn't as much work. They came on time and completed the work quickly and didn't leave a mess.

Thomas Lee, who runs Lee Hardwood was the most responsive and easy to understand floor finisher and installer of the many we had quote us for the work. The work involved refinishing 2000 square feet of wood flooring and putting down new floor on about 200 square feet to match the rest of the flooring.First of all, when he came, he was very fast. He gave us a nice round number for the floor finishing and a nice round number for the new floor. Many establishments get carried away in the detail, but Tom just said "2800 for the floor and 1200 for the new floor". He said after he studied the job for about 10 minutes. We had others in to quote but amazingly, almost no-one else came back to us, and since the only other figure we'd heard was 2.25 per square foot, we figured this was a good deal. After we accepted the quote, Tom had the floors delivered right away and then was really flexible timing the refinishing to work around the painters. The only caveat is that the refinishing, though very good, did leave a few dark patches here and there. Nothing to be concerned about, but I suppose refinishing a 70 year old oak floor isn't that obvious. The work itself took about 3 days, one to repair the old floor and install the new, the second to sand and prime, and the third to do a second coat. A lot of people try to sell you a third quote, but Tom pointed out that it makes the coat too thick, which makes for easy scratching. If you've ever tried peeling off thin vs thick tape, you'll understand what he means. Overall, an excellent job. A+ TOM!!

Lee was always very responsive when we called, from the start when we asked for an estimate right up until the end when he met us to give back the keys. The floors look beautiful, and no damage was done to the walls. They did a great job vacuuming and cleaning up when they were finished so that everything was sparkling. I would definitely call him again.

It went well. They responded quickly to my call, arrived promptly on the scheduled work date, and the floors look great. My only complaint would be the residual odor of the stain. I'm not sure if the odor is par for the course, but it was quite strong after they finished. However, it is getting better.

We had just moved and the attic room floors needed refinishing. We asked Lee to take out carpet in one room and refinish the pine floors. His guys did a nice job. It was REALLY hot and difficult to work up there and they didn't complain. I did have to call them back after they were done - the floors definitely needed another coat of poly. The work was a little rough but for the price they were absolutely wonderful. I'm not sure I'd use them for my main house - I worry that their work isn't quite as polished as more expensive refinishers but they did a wonderful job on my very ugly attic floors and stairs.

Our daughter was moving home unanticipated and I needed to redecorate "her old room" in a hurry. In the process I ripped up the 25 year old carpeting. I discovered the original 104 year old douglas fir floor. To my dismay it was damaged and the nail strips that hold the carpet down had left a perfect outline all around the perimeter of the room. I was not confident that the damage could be repaired. I checked out flooring contractors on Angie's List. I checked Lee's flooring, read all of their reviews and gave them a call on Friday 3/18/2011. Ms Lee called me first thing Monday morning and came out to check the floor that afternoon. She was honest about the stains and the questionable outcome of refinishing the floor. I agreed and decided that the best product for my needs was a pre-finished hardwood floor. We decided to install white oak. My floor was installed 3 days later 3/24/2011. I am delighted!!! They were prompt, efficient ,courteous and clean. I am very pleased with my new floor and I would definitely hire them again.

They were as good as everyone said they were. They gave us a great price that I actually don?t remember. They had a really fast turnaround time. We tried to set up the project about two weeks in advance. They said they didn?t need that much notice and that we could call them in about two days in advance. They did a wonderful job and also threw in a free coat of polyurethane on our first floor. Our interaction with them was great.

I had received multiple quotes for the job that were nearly twice as much as Lee's. Using Angie's List I located Lee's Flooring and all their great reviews. They bid the job over the phone (I guessed at the room sizes), , and didn't charge for the little extras (thresholds) that I added to the job later. He also came on the next business day and arrived 30 minutes early, waiting for me when I was late! The owner/operator Thomas Lee was very responsive to my needs. He is not your sit around and chat type of contractor though he has a pleasant disposition. He'll show up and just get the job done right. I gave him the keys to my place that was full of renovation tools and felt perfectly comfortable letting them come and go as they wished. Communication is a bit challenging due to the accent but they are patient, and if you are then you'll end up with a great job for an amazing price. Thank you Thomas Lee!
Description of Work: The services were performed in a timely fashion and with great attention to detail. They had to rip out old carpet out of three bedrooms wrap the carpet into managable pieces and bring them outside for disposal (not sure what they would charge for rug disposal) They had to then sand out a lot of paint from all corners of the 800+ square feet. I never thought the floors could come out as nice as they did.

Lee's was great. They were responsive, affordable, and most of all did a great job. They refinished the wood floors throughout our condo-- about 800 square feet worth-- in two days. There are several family members involved in the business, and all are nice and helpful. One brother came out and did an estimate, and others actually came and did the work. They were able to start the work on the day we requested and completed it on time. I especially appreciated that they were easygoing about payment and happy to have us inspect the work before making a final payment. When friends and family come over to our place, they often comment on how beautiful the floors look. The only thing I would mention is that the fumes were strong-- we had to stay at a friend's place for several days after the refinishing before the fumes dissipated enough to let us sleep at home. But I think that is the case with any floor refinishing, nothing to do with this company.

Thomas and his team did a great job for a terrific price. He was less than half of what most others quoted and immediately available (i called Mon and his guys came on Wed while others all needed a month to schedule). They arrived early, were fast, efficient, and didn't waste time at all. They put 2 coats of polyurethane (1st coat was probably just generic while the 2nd coat was better stuff -- not sure if this is industry procedure) and the floors look better than new. The only minor complaint (and its minor because for the price, its still well worth it) is that a few parts of the wood near the edges don't seem like they got the 2nd coat (still a bit rough). It's a small part and toward the edge, so not a big deal.. i'd probably suggest having someone there to watch while they're doing their work (they're very willing to fix things that didn't go right).. just to make sure they get everything.
Description of Work: Had Lee's come in and re-sand and re-finish (2 coats of polyurethane) approximately 700 sqft of floors. They sanded and put coat 1 first day (took about 3 hrs), and came back the second day to put coat #2 (30 mins).

Overall a great experience. I called and left a message on Monday. Tom returned my call within 10 minutes. I described the work I wanted done. He asked me when I wanted him to do it. I said asap and he offered to do it Tuesday. I actually couldn't have it ready for him until Wednesday, so he did it then. He quoted me a price over the phone, which I thought was more than fair (a little less than I expected actually). He came and did the job while I worked without me ever seeing him. He finished by Thursday morning and met me for the first time Thursday afternoon to inspect his work and pay him. The floors look great and the experience couldn't have been smoother. This guy is a real professional.

Tom's crew did an excellent job; I'd definitely use them again. I submitted a quote request through Angie's list, and Tom called me later this afternoon. He asked me some questions about the job and then gave me a quote over the phone. I called him a few days later to confirm and schedule a date. Two members of his crew showed up on our scheduled date at around 7:30am. I had already covered our kitchen cabinets with plastic sheeting, but they immediately started covering everything else - shelves, TV, pictures, etc. On day one they did the sanding and then one coat of finish; day two was the second coat. When we bought this condo, the hardwoods were brand new, but now the floors look better than they did when we moved in.

Mr. Lee scheduled the refinishing job for Monday, May 31. I had to point out to him that this is Memorial Day. He wasn't aware of it, but emphasized it would not be problem because his brother could do it. He said to expect his brother between 8 am and 8:30 am. On Memorial Day, as scheduled, I drove to our new home, arrived at 8 am, waited for 45 minutes, called Lee, and learned that the work was not to be done on the day afterall. Given that the date selection was chosen freely by Mr. Lee and I would have been fine with any other day of the week, punctuality and professionalism must be rated lousy. Also, Mr. Lee arrived significantly late on the day he was providing the original estimate - in retrospect this should have been enough of a warning sign.

This is an unfortunate incident which we mis-understanding each other. When we schedule to do the job, I said we can start on Monday but the member pointed out that Monday is Memorial Day, do we work holiday? I then told him that we will not and asked to schedule to do the job on Tuesday. When I received a call from the member on the Memorial Day, I was surprised and apologized if there was a mis-understanding but we scheduled to do the Job on Tuesday. Also for the estimate appointment on May 18, customer was late to the appointment. Not the other way around.
