They performed two minor projects but deferred from a more difficult one. They did not agree with my assessment of what had caused the damaged, then discovered it was correct. They would not address the issue of repairing an additional porch light, the wiring damaged by squirrels, and spent a good 30 minutes diagnosing what eventually turned out to be a 30 minute repair. They then called their office to ask if they could extend the service to fix the porch wiring and were told no. They offered to send an estimate thqt never came.

Excellent service. The installer was prompt and professional. I was very impressed with how quickly he got everything set up and installed, and the explanation he gave me of all functions. A+.

2 men came on time. Just wanted to know where to install. I had to rush out to tell them what I wanted. They seemed in a rush and did not take time to adjust light correctly. They seemed in a terrible rush to complete the job and get out. They did not give me extra parts that came with the packaging and little booklet on how to change anything on fixture. Just threw it in the next trash can. They need to take more than 10 minutes and communicate better with customers. Light works but direction and sensitivity needs adjustment. Will not hire company again.

He never provided a quote for the installation after 1 month. I called 2 or 3 times every week since his visit and he is not in the office. I asked them to tell me if they are not interested and they couldn't even say so. After 1 month of calls, it is pretty clear that they are not.

Went well, did what was asked in time allotted.

Before we received the invocie for the pending balance we hired them again to install a bathroom vent. We paid $111 in advance for the bathroom vent but there was a misunderstanding. They came over only to install the vent on the cieling but refused to vent out from the bathroom so we called the deal off and the owner John siad we will just use the payment against the pending balance of $90.88 on the first invoice. That still means we paid more and we should have received a refund for $111 less the $90.88. It's been 6 months and we are still waiting on our refund. To make matters worse they keep emailing us the invoice for $90.88 and whenever I call into to discuss the person who answers the phone is EXTREMELY RUDE!!!! I am still waiting on them to call me and clear the matter. I am planning to file an official complaint with the Business Bureau because they are refusing to clear the invoice when INFACT THEY OWE US MONEY!!!!

It took two different Electricans to fix my problem with the two lights that weren't working - I felt the first Electrican didn't have a enough experience to make a decision on solving the problem with my lights. He spent to much time doing the same thing over and over, rather than calling the office and telling them he couldn't fix the problem. He however did a good job replacing the smoke detectors. total hrs. = 3.5 price $111 + 260 = $371. The second Electrican had more experience and checked out the trouble with the circuit and refeed the switches. total hrs. = 1.5 hrs price $195.00 After the second Electrican left, that evening I put the light over my desk (one of the ones that was just fixed that day) started to flicker, then went off completely. This happened several times until the light wouldn't go on at all. I called JP McCurdy's office and left a message that same evening. I had to call again today 6/15 since they did not return my call, I was told they couldn't get to me until Friday 6/19. I said I would hope I didn't have to pay any more money since I had already paid well over $500.00 and the problem is with the light that was just fixed on 6/11. I was told that I would still pay the same rate that I agreed to before if it wasn't their fault the light went out. I have changed the new light bulb with another new light bulb and the same problem is happening all over again. The iight stays on for a while then goes out by itself. The light bulbs are NEW LED I just bought at home depot last week. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I feel they should have come out right away and told me their would not be another charge

They easily installed the exterior outlet for $300, where others had predicted complex solutions costing far more. They swapped out the pendant lamps, taking all my concerns into consideration, for $1500. They responded promptly to our emergency call, for which we paid $300, and made a temporary fix to the problem for $150. They promised to provide options for long-term solution right away (which they are doing now.) We are very happy with J.P. McCurdy.

I purchased a big deal for outdoor motion sensor light which included a light, but I was afraid they would give a very cheap light, so I had purchased my own just in case I didn't like what they were going to install. Sure enough, when I saw what they would install, I didn't like it since it looked very cheap. I asked them to install the light I had purchased. They were fine with that and since the deal was supposed to include the light fixture, they did some additional wiring and a switch installed for no additional charge. I am happy with the electrical part of the work, however, they light was installed in the front of the house above the garage, and the guy doing the installation left a visible black line on the siding close to where the light was installed. I didn't notice it until they were already gone.

Had previously gotten a quote for the panel replacement and some other electrical work from the same provider. I wasn't sure if I needed to replace old fuse sub panel, and provider was honest in telling me that there was no absolute need to replace it, but there were some benefits to replacing and told me that if I decided to replace it he would also organize the mess of cables that had been done by other electrician leading into the fuse panel as well as combine a separate sub-panel for the pool into one sub-panel. When big deal came out for panel replacement with same provider came out, I jumped at the chance to save some money and it even included whole house surge protection. I made appointment and the guy who showed up was different from the guy who had originally come out to my house for the quote - which was fine as long as he did what the other guy had said would be done. The guy worked diligently for a few hours and I didn't babysit him, but after he was finished I went to check out the work. He had replaced the panel, but the panel installed had only 1 free circuit left, and he had not combined the pool subpanel and he had not organized the mess of wires feeding into the new subpanel and he had not installed any surge protection. When I asked about each of these items, he said he knew nothing about having to install surge protection, that he had been told by his boss (the guy who gave me the quote) to not combine the pool subpanel. He did a good job labeling the circuits for the subpanel and he said his work was done. I had to call the company and speak to his boss about the surge protection and the other issues. He ackowledged that the surge protection was part of the deal but said he didn't have the part in stock and would have to order it and come back. Several days went by and I had to keep on calling several times to remind him about the surge protection. Overall, the work done was good, but not exactly as discussed on a previous quote and it took some effort to get the provider to install the surge protection which had been part of the deal.

I scheduled with one of the owners. I left work specifically to be there. I called to ask if they were running late or if they were coming. I was told they would get back in touch with me right away. I didn't hear from owner and they didn't call me back. After I got back to work, I called back and talked to an individual and they once again told me they would call me back. I still haven't heard back from them and it's been five days. I took time off from work and that is what is especially frustrating. I am posting this review for other people to be aware and perhaps forewarned. John let me down.

Quick, professional, overall great work.

He arrived on time took a little longer than I had anticipated but did a good job.

When I bought the deal, it took them a little while to get here which didn't bother me because of all the snowfall at the time. I told them there was no rush for the service and finally we came up with a date-- they sent two men over. They replaced recess lights in the kitchen, looked at the microwave oven because the light doesn't work (unable to fix that issue), and lastly they inspected the heater in the fan in my bathroom. They said the motor was gone and mentioned that the replacement motor would be $186 or gave us the option of getting a new unit for $235. At that time, we agreed to have them replace everything with a new unit. The unit was only a couple years old so we didn't expect any extra costs. They told us they would order the new unit then call me but I never received a call. When I finally touched base with them a few weeks later, they said that the unit had not yet been ordered. A few days later, they followed up and said the unit was in and asked to come over right away to install it. They sent someone back out who was here for about 15mins. My husband asked what we owed them and they called the office-- the office said they would send us a bill. Two and a half weeks later, the bill for the unit arrived and was $325 instead of $235 for the unit (not counting $110 for labor). Paying the labor wasn't the argument-- the problem was that they told me that the unit would be $235 but it was $325 on the bill. I followed up with the owner and he would not budge on the price. I was told it would be $235 so I expected it to be $235. I didn't get anywhere with the service provider so I told them I would call Angie's List, and he prompted me to go ahead and call. They said they have to make money to run a business.

Great service. Very professional from start to finish. I purchased a Big Deal and provided one date that would work best for me. The provider scheduled for that date. The electrician was professional and knowledgeable. He was very friendly and did a great job. I would hire the company again for another project.

That was fine. It looks fine. It looks great. There were no issues. I thought they were professional. I do not have anything negative to say about them.

It went very well! ?They were efficient, punctual and very pleasant to deal with. The work was also superb.

Install went fine. They did put in a new ceiling fan box because they said existing one was loose even tho the ceiling fan that was there before worked fine. Technicians who were nice had a slight problem lining up ceiling fan pieces but I said it was fine. Had I known I would later receive a bill for an additional $ 171.50 for that new box I would have made them align it properly! I had J.P. McCurdy here before for another ceiling fan install and it was fine. I feel like I have been had. The old bait and switch so to speak. I joined Angies List to avoid this exact scenario. The labor they charged me is $150 dollars to cut a larger hole is my ceiling..really? Outrageous. Disgusted with Angies List and J.P. McCurdy.

I recently used JP McCurdy Electrical Services via Angie's list and was very pleased. They displayed their professional work ethics by putting covers over their work boots. They were right on time and worked efficiently while doing a great job. I will be using them again next month.

Mike B. was great - he was courteous, knew exactly what he was doing, informed me that the switch we had was the cause of the problem and explained why very clearly. He did the work quickly and carefully. He was late, but called to let me know that he was caught in bad traffic. I will use these folks again to do more work on my house - really liked them!

I purchased a big deal with them for ceiling fan installation. They contacted me right away and were very nice, but we actually decided not to go with a ceiling fan in the room.

Went great. They were able to show up before work at 7am, arrived right on time, and were done in under an hour. Very courteous and professional. They responded right away to set up an appointment. I would recommend them and use them again.
