.He was suppose to start at the beginning of June and he said it should take 1 week. He didn't start until the beginning of July and it took the whole month. I asked for drawings of his plans. He said he didn't work that way and that we would discuss how he would lay everything out before hand and, if I didn't like it afterwards, he would change it for me. I gave him a detailed spreadsheet of what I wanted done and we walked the yard at least 3 times between March and June to go over everything. Lots of things went wrong. He has no ability to plan ahead and ran into trouble many time because he didn't prepare what he needed before hand. I never knew what he was doing that day or the next day unless I called him. He told me the day he was digging the conduit trenches that I had to have an electrician to actually lay the conduits and get a building inspection. I didn't have an electrician at that point, so I ended up having to use his brother. His quote included laying the conduit, but I had to pay his brother another $400 to do the same thing. He didn't order the loam early enough. It was going to take a week to get it, so he got it from another place and tried to charge me the extra cost (which I did not pay). He put drip beds around the house that did not extend far enough out to capture the drips from the roof line. His original plan for the walk ways were ridiculous (too straight and too close to the house) and it was very difficult to get him to lay the pathway that I wanted and that we had discussed during the quoting process. I ended up paying extra for additional pavers because he said it was longer than what we had originally discussed. There were many things we discussed that he had no clue about. I think he may actually have a memory problem. The field stones for that walkway were spaced too far apart. I had to jump between stones to stop from walking on mud. He tried to charge me for additional field stones to fill in the gaps. Finally, and probably my worst issue that I have to deal with, the lawn is dreadful. He didn't put down nearly enough seed. The rain washed away entire sections of the lawn and I had to argue with him to get him to rework it without more cost to me. It's been 3-4 weeks since he finished and I am about to get more seed to reseed the lawn. There is 5 to 10 times more bare ground than grass right now, and the weeds are already taking over. I don't have the money to hire someone to fix it. I am happy with a few things he did... the irrigation system someone else put in is working well. The walkways came out very nice (he hired a good stone mason). My recommendation if you're doing a job as big as mine.... Hire a landscape architect to plan everything out and sub out the smaller jobs to guys like Keith. I think Keith could do a decent job for a small project. But he can't handle anything big. (Though I wouldn't hire him for even a small project again.)
Description of Work: Re-landscaped yard. He regraded the yard, dug 3 trenches for electrical conduits, put in an irrigation system and a lawn, built 2 paver walk ways and 1 field stone walkway, built a small retaining wall, cleared 2 other areas of undergrowth, put rock drip beds around the house and 2 garden beds w/ 7 shrubs
