Bauman Remodeling

We had a great experience with Bauman Remodeling. Mike was very easy to work with and we recommend him highly. He finished the project on time and on budget. He designed a fire place for us and when it did not look exactly right when in place, he added some detail and made sure that it looked great, at no additional cost to us. He is very detail oriented and did a great job with the whole project. This included designing & building a mantle, painting the walls and scraping the popcorn and painting the ceiling. Mike was great about meeting us at convenient times and made sure that we were satisfied every step of the way. Overall we were very happy with the result and Bauman Remodeling and look forward to working with Mike on future projects.

Mike was great to work with. Very responsive, professional. He stuck firmly to his original quote, and original timelines, even coming in on a weekend to ensure the deadlines were met. He came in under a lot of the other bids we solicited, and his team did top notch work. Any issue we pointed out or concern was quickly resolved. This was our first time do any kind of renovation on our condo so we were nervous, but feel lucky we chose Mike based on the other reviews, and would definitely use him again or recommend him!

This was a huge job. Overall, the quality was fantastic and the work was very professional. Mike uses subcontractors for some work and they were all amazing!! He definitely has high standards for his sub contractors. The completion date did get pushed back a couple times, but I think that is par for the course in contracting. Overall, would definitely recommend mike - he was wonderful and his work was fantastic.

Mike and his crew did excellent, meticulously detailed work. Mike is very easy to work with and took time to understand what I wanted to accomplish in the apartment prior to beginning the work. The final outcome was just what I had hoped for. His crew worked neatly and cleaned up well when all work was finally completed.

I first contacted Mike to knock down a few load bearing walls in our kitchen. We knew this was going to be a challenging task since we wanted to preserve most of the existing cabinets, including some that were partially on the walls we wanted to knock down. After our first meeting with Mike it was clear he was our contractor! He immediately began offering amazing design suggestions that we never envisioned and he delivered with exceptional results! His suggestion of a custom wine rack in an area that was too small for a cabinet was stunning and we continuously receive complements on it! He also designed new custom cabinetry and tripled our storage space while making everything look clean and modern. Our friends and family think we gutted our entire kitchen when in reality it was Mike's design elements that made a new and an old space come together perfectly. Mike's eye for detail, fresh design ideas, patience, and the ability to pull it all together make him an excellent choice as a contractor and design consultant. His staff (Chris and Juan) are also exceptionally personable, courteous, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Mike and his team!

Pro: Mike is a courteous and professional guy. He appears to be deliberate. Cons: 1) Scheduling was difficult. Once we set on the date, it then had to be scheduled twice the last minute because Mike was held up at another job. 2) Prices are ridiculously high. For the prime/2 coats of paint job in the dining room, his quote was $2000. He also stated that "they do not move furniture, that's someone else responsibility". For price comparison sake, I had the same thing done by a reputable painter in another (bigger) room a year ago for less than $600. Mike's quote was more than 3x that of what I paid previously. Perhaps this company focuses on big jobs and can be more cost effective that way, but I was really shocked at the price estimate. It's not for me.

I've used Mike before for a major renovation job (see earlier reviews). Once again Mike, always friendly and courteous, produced quality work. Details were critically attended to. A suggestions for a modification was listened to and worked out willingly. Cleanup was careful and complete. I would unhesitatingly recommend him for any job, large or small.

We hired Mike to take down a wall, put up a header and trim work around the new opening, make built-in bookcases around our fireplace, remove an old sliding door and install new french doors, put new trim around the french doors and update trim around another window in the room. Overall we felt the work was first-rate. After meeting with 3 different contractors, Mike was the priciest (hence the B rating and not an A), but also was able to see our vision (especially with the bookcases) and was very professional. We could tell by the types of questions that Mike asked us that he had experience with this type of finished carpentry and that he had very good attention to detail. We really wanted quality of work and done within a certain time frame, so we chose to go with Mike, and he delivered. His crew Juan and Chris were very professional, nice, clean, and hardworking. Mike took the time to always explain the process and the details of the work. He used top materials and made sure the end product was of high quality. One of our biggest concerns was the built-in bookcases around our fireplace - we wanted them to match the existing mantle, and also hide all the wires from our TV hung above the fireplace. Mike and his crew did an excellent job and the built-ins look great. They also did a wonderful job installing the french doors and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. When the door opening was a tad smaller than the doors, causing a little more work, Mike did not charge us extra (he may not be the cheapest, but he doesn't nickel and dime you either). He really transformed the space, and we are very happy we went with Bauman remodeling. He clearly takes great pride in his work and wants his clients to get what they want and be happy. It was a pleasure to work with Mike, Juan, and Chris. We would recommend Bauman Remodeling for a project, and will use them in the future for other projects in our home.

Our sun-room remodel/deck project was the first time we used Bauman Remodeling. Our interactions with Mike Bauman were very professional. The sun-room remodel turned out to be a much larger project than we anticipated because there were structural issues (caused by water damage) that were unknown to us until Mike and his team began the demo. The sun-room remodel turned into a project where Mike and his team had to rebuild most everything. I would like to highlight the fact that we felt Mike was very honest and fair in how he charged us for the additional material/labor needed to fix the structural work that was uncovered during the renovation. During the three month (early of April to first week of July) renovation, Mike was easy to reach (or would return calls promptly) when we had questions. Mike was also knowledgeable and helpful in his suggestions on how to tackle aspects of the renovation we were not as familiar with. We are happy with how the new sun-room looks and functions. Mike and his team built the sun room back almost from scratch, put in a new framing, new windows, new doors (one sliding onto the deck), insulated the floor and walls, put down new tile, painted and corrected the electrical. Mike did contract out the painting and sheet rock work but the people he used for these parts of the project were good. Mike also tore down our old wooden deck that was rotting and improperly supported, and built a new composite deck off of the sun-room's sliding doors. We are very happy with the deck. Overall we have been very pleased with Mike's work and would use him again for other jobs.

It took a bit to actually get connected with Mike but, once we did, he and his crew - Chris and Juan - proved to be worth the wait. Mike and Chris initially came by to discuss the project and give the estimate (and they even helped us at that time with a door which was giving us problems!). Once we gave the go ahead, the start date was decided and Chris and Juan showed up to do our built-ins and convert the closet to a pantry. They worked efficiently, cleanly and, most importantly, professionally. We now have two fantastic bookcases which show wonderful attention to detail and are extremely high-quality, and a pantry that we can't imagine living without. Mike came back to add-on doors to one of the bookcases, which just upgraded its style and gave it the perfect finish. We are looking forward to doing additional projects with Bauman Remodeling.

Mike Bauman and his partners Chris and Juan have worked with me before: I know I can depend on them to get projects done on time, within budget, and without hassle. I should say without hassle to me. Remodeling is inherently complicated and one of the nice things about hiring Mike is that he can anticipate problems before they occur and suggest effective solutions. To name one example, when putting in new entry doors to the apartment, I knew I wanted 1/4 glass panels, that is 4 square glass panels alongthe top quarter of the door, to let in a little light, and that I wanted semi-transparent textured glass that would provide a little privacy. Mike caught the fact that the door vendor had sent the wrong type of doors before they were hung, so we were able to get the right doors. In another example, Mike was able to substitute a silicone caulking for the upmost row of tiles under the tub lip that will save premature degradation of the tile job. In still another, he correctly anticipated his plumber would need to change the kitchen drain to comply with code and reduce likelihood of backups. Mike was patient and competent in arranging the six inspections (electrical rough, plumbing rough, general rough, electrical final, plumbing final, and general final) and able to work with the city's overextended inspectional services so that the project was properly inspected and up to code, while still staying within an adequate timeframe so I could bring the apartment onto the market in time for prime rental season. I am pleased by Bauman Remodeling's workmanship, ethics, and professionalism. They solve problems, and they get the project done right.

There was initially a mis-communication in scope and cost which was worked out in the end. The work was completed quickly and on time.

This provider never returned my phone calls. I tried to make contact three times and never received a return phone call.

Contractor never bothered to submit a quote for finishing our basement which had been gutted back to the studs because of mold and asbestos.

Went smoothly. Mike Bauman put me in touch with Craig Sutherland of Seamless Gutters. Craig gave me a decent price, and when we found that a large section of the fascia had to be replaced, we were able to come to a fair agreement about revising the price to compensate for the extra work. Work has only been recently done so haven't had a change to test it out in the rain yet, but gutters seem expertly installed and look good.

They called before arriving. Showed up at 8:15 AM as scheduled and finished around 1:00 PM. They actually painted bordering areas that were not part of the job. In addition, they did an extra coat to make sure the entry looked its best!

I contacted Mike to give us an estimate for several projects at our home. We arranged for a time to give us an estimate. As previous posters have said, there was some confusion about times. He did not seem very organized in terms of his appointments. He was very nice when he was here and we walked through the work we wanted to have done. He never sent us the estimate, so we went with a different provider. We never heard from him again.

He missed the first appointment that we had set, told me that he had put it on the wrong date on his calendar, fair enough, we all make mistakes sometimes so we rescheduled. He showed up for the second appointment on time, he seemed friendly and professional and promised to get back to me in roughly a week with an estimate. After close to 2 weeks I contacted him to see if he was still planning on giving us an estimate, he apologized, told me a few more days, I gave him both my email and phone number, but never heard from him again. It would have been nice if he had communicated to me that he was not interested in the job rather than wasting everyones time.

They did a really great job from start to finish and were very open to my input during the course of the entire job. They were very clean and courteous, as well as highly professional and attentive. I was really satisfied with their overall work, quality, and approach to home improvements. Mike had his plasterer Eddie and his crew, who were very thorough, detailed, and professional come in to do the plastering and painting and also a highly skilled flooring person, Santos to repair/replace all the necessary hardwood flooring. All in all I would highly recommend Bauman Remodeling, as well as his plasterer and floor guy and would definitely use them again in any upcoming home improvement projects.

Replaced our front portico, Fixed and painted most ceilings, Replaced three bathroom vanities, Painted kitchen, hallways, bathrooms, living room, dining room, and two bedrooms, plus tile work in second floor bathroom and some miscellaneous jobs...

Initially he was hard to get hold of, but I think that's in part due to the attention he gives to the clients he is already working with (which is not a bad thing!) He spent time understanding what my expectations were and providing suggestions. During the work phase, he was able to accomodate some small additions to the job list as well as taking care of some additional tasks that had caused water damage he was fixing. Mike and his team were professional and left site clean and tidy at the end of the day. I look forward to working with Mike again in the future.

Mike came out for an estimate. He was friendly enough. He didn't take any notes, which I thought was a bit odd considering it was a fairly complicated kitchen renovation. He told us he'd try to have an estimate to us in about a week. After waiting a number of weeks, and not hearing from him we emailed him and received no response. That was 2 weeks ago. I was disappointed to not even get a response of any kind. Obviously, we'll be looking at other options.

Mike Bauman was great, making sure everything was clear from the get-go. Joe, the jobsite supervisor, was great to work with. He communicates well and is always ready to go the extra yard to make sure things get done right. He was almost always to be found at the site. Sean, the carpenter on the job, is a master craftsman. All told, the quality of the final product was top-notch. I always felt like I was being dealt with fairly and honestly by all concerned. There was never any nickel-and-diming when something extra had to be done to get the expected result. The job took longer than planned. This was partly, but not entirely, due to extra work that got added to the original contract along the way. I think it was just that the original timeline was off, because the guys worked hard and they worked non-stop throughout the entire job.I would definitely hire Bauman again--in fact, I plan to for another job in the very near future!

After a little phone tag, we finally connected and once I explained the job, he was able to ballpark the price for me. It was a little higher than another estimate we had so didn't pursue it.

You will not find a more honest and humble owner than Mike Bauman. He puts his heart and soul into his work and the quality shows. The most impressive aspect of this engagement was Mike himself. He truly cares about his clients, and having dealt with contractors in the past I can say with absolute confidence that Mike is of a different breed. He is a family man with extremely high moral character, and it shows when you speak and work with him. I look forward to doing business with Mike again when my family moves in the near future.
