Durable Remodeling

Very well. After some initial haggling on start date, once they started the job it was completed in 3.5 days and it came out perfectly! Just what we wanted. We could not be happier and we will recommend Durable Remodeling to everyone who asks!

The project was well executed from start to finish. This is a professional group and clearly they were knowledgeable about their work. They arrive early and get down to work. The job was completed on schedule without any unexpected delays.

Durable Remodeling did an awesome job on my roof deck construction. I had to remove the existing deck due to a roof replacement, and the new one built by Dean and his crew was a big improvement over the old one. Originally I was unsure if I was going to be able to afford to build another deck, but Durable came in with a reasonable bid that used higher quality materials at a lower cost than the competitor bids. Throughout the project Dean was responsive, flexible and professional. He always ran any changes by me first and explained all of my options. He's hands down the easiest, most accommodating contractor that I've worked with. When ran into an issue with the condo's new roof that halted progress, Dean went above and beyond (even splitting unforeseen costs) to ensure the project was completed as quickly as possible. I will definitely use Durable for any future projects and I would highly recommend them to anyone else.

Durable Remodeling replaced our back porch and stairs almost a year ago. The area underneath the porch is enclosed and used for storage. We began to notice that the door to the storage area was out of alignment and was not closing properly. This may have been caused by the fact that Dean and his crew made structural improvements to the porch during the original job. I called Dean to let him know about this and he asked me to send him a video of the door. I did this and he promised to come out and look at it as soon as possible. True to his word, he texted me when he planned to look at it and a member of his team was there as promised. The door is working perfectly now. This is the second minor follow-up to the original work performed. In each case Dean responded promptly and corrected things in a timely manner, at no additional cost. We cannot say enough about Durable Remodeling.

We obtained three quotes for our project and Durable Remodeling was in the middle. What set them apart from the others was the insight and knowledge of Dean Willette. He carefully explained the process including what might be hidden underneath the current siding so that we were aware and fully informed. After all, our home is over 100 years old! The project started on time with hard a working, amazing crew. I don't think those hammers stopped once while they were on the job. Highly professional! Dean was very responsive to my questions and concerns. I never waited longer then 45 minutes for an answer to my text. He welcomed my inquiries, so I never felt "brushed off". When the siding was done, I was approached by one of my neighbors who kiddingly ask "Are to trying to make us look bad?" referring to how great our home looked. Another neighbor said to me that he watched them working and they did everything right! I would hire Durable Remodeling again for our next project, knowing that it will be done on-time, correctly, and with no short cuts. It was the best experience we've had with a remodeling project.

Dean and his crew were great. They were professional, courteous, and did a wonderful job start to finish. The quality was everything we had hoped for. They were flexible about small adjustments along the way, and responsive to questions and any small issues (which were very few and far between) along the way. Dean is very easy to get in touch with, and having done several large renovations on our home and I can definitely say that he is the easiest and most communicative contractor we have worked with. We are already planning to do a number of other projects with them and would recommend them to anyone.

At the end of July of 2015, I contacted Dean and Durable Remodeling on Angie's List in need or repairing and replacing the soffit and gutters damaged by squirrels and raccoons on my house. Dean promptly replied to my request and he and I began communicating immediately. Within a few short days he and I were able to schedule a visit to my house and I obtained a quote of $4,400 to pull down the existing soffit, fascia, and gutters and replace with all new vinyl soffit and aluminum gutters and fascia. Dean and I were able to schedule a time that worked perfectly for both of us and the work began in October. Two wonderful gentlemen arrived to work on the house and immediately began the nasty task of removing all of the old soffit, which was covered in animal waste and extremely unpleasant. Both workers were super friendly and worked efficiently throughout the day. Dean came by to visit and check on the work, as well as check in with with me about the project. Every time Dean and I spoke, both in person as well as on the phone, he was an absolute pleasure to work with before, during and even following the project. Unfortunately, once all of the old materials were removed, they discovered a significant amount of structural damage in the framework of the house that had been eaten by the rodents. I had been away that day they discovered this problem, however Dean called me immediately and we discussed the situation. Although the repair was going to cost an additional $2,000, Dean carefully explained to me the options and I was more than happy to have the job done correctly despite the additional cost. The final outcome of the repair was beautiful and the job was completed efficiently and on time. The yard was completely cleared up and all of the waste was removed from the yard. Dean visited once the job was complete and we even chatted about future jobs and work that I would love to have them complete. Dean and I have continued to be in contact since this work was completed and I would most certainly use this company again. Dean and Durable Remodeling are professional, efficient, and a pleasure to work with. Dean replies to my calls and messages immediately and he is always willing to help out. Dean Willette came into my home and carefully measured each window that was being replaced to make sure there would not be any surprises once the windows were ordered. The windows came in three weeks later like we were told and were installed a couple of days later. The crew that installed the windows were amazing! Professional, courteous, and meticulous. They completed the entire home in half a day. Each window was sealed with no gaps (which is quite a feat in my old home). They even took the time to demonstrate how the windows function and showed me features I didn't know about. I highly recommend Durable Remodeling, and would use them again in a heart beat!

We started researching our porch project last fall. Out of the contractors that showed up to the house we had one who immediately informed me that he had lost a bid to do our roof a year or two before that. He made it known that he was quite upset about that. He then stated that this is a big job on an old house and that he really didn't want the job but, would quote it. It ended up that his quote was double the amount Durable Remodeling would quote. The other contractor visited our home for an hour and a half making several suggestions that would enhance our porch. This contractor never quoted nor contacted us again. Needless to say my husband and I were discouraged and decided not to pursue until the spring. Spring arrived I thought it best this time to find a reputable source for our contractor therefore, I chose Angie's List. I requested quotations from a couple of contractors after reading their reviews on the site. Within a couple of hours Durable Remodeling had replied to my RFQ. Dean Willett (the owner) contacted me to set up an appointment to discuss our upcoming renovation. From the moment I met Dean I felt at ease as he extremely knowledgeable of every aspect of this job. I also was impressed with his work ethics. His motto is "Do it right the first time”. During our meeting I felt as though he was not there just to promote his business but, to help a prospective customer to get the quality job they expect and he demands in his business. He had several creative suggestions we could try with the porch. One of these suggestions was to border the parameter of the deck in a contrasting color or accentuating the floor of the gazebo section. Another suggestion was to add a bead board vinyl ceiling to keep with the character of our 1910 home. I love the fact that he was trying to help me create the best porch I could. Dean was the kind of contractor that my husband and I were looking for. Of course we hired Durable Remodeling to do the job. We scheduled for a late May start which Dean was able to better by 3 weeks. Bob (the foreman) and the boys arrived by 7:00 a.m. on the 5th to begin our project. When I returned from work that first day I was shocked to see that the entire wrap around porch had been removed and the footings had been started. Work progressed quickly day by day. Each day my husband and I went to work we were greeted by the team with a smile and cordial conversation. Any time either of us had a question or concern Bob was more than happy to explain what was happening and why. We were advised daily as to what was to be done the next day. Once the job was started they worked non-stop unless they were awaiting the electrician or building inspector, etc. Also to be noted, the crew was diligent about cleaning up after each day’s work. This is important as we have small children who visit on the weekends. The job took a little less than 3 weeks to complete even though I threw in a special request they had not planned on. I suggested we add a hanging porch swing to the side of the porch to add a little more charm to the already beautiful porch. Dean checked with Bob as extra support would have to be installed in the ceiling. Bob was more than eager to accommodate our new request. Once the porch was finished Bob and the crew made sure that everything was paint ready which included caulking, sanding whatever necessary. During the rebuild we, as well as the workers, had heard many a compliment as well as several inquiries for business cards. We live on a main road and people driving by will slow down and comment along with a thumbs up. Our porch is absolutely beautiful. Dean and his workers have created such a warm, welcoming new porch that is the envy of many. I still can’t believe it when I sit on my porch swing at night. This beautiful porch is ours and I absolutely love it! Without a doubt Durable Remodeling is our choice of contractor and should be yours as well. Thank you all for a job well done! ? ? Dean responded quickly to my request and was very flexible with dates and times to meet. Dean walked me through multiple different options for my deck replacement and helped closed some knowledge gaps that I had. Dean responded with estimates on time and was quick to answer additional questions as they came up. Dean and his team showed up on time for the installation and worked in a very neat, clean, and professional manner. The job was completed on time and on budget and they left the surrounding yard in the same condition they found it. This job required an onsite dumpster and the dumpster was removed from the premises the very next day. I am extremely pleased with the overall quality of the work and the products for the deck met everything that Dean said they would.

They were very prompt and even worked during cold and snowy days we had in March. Deck looks great.

The project went well overall. Dean was very responsive to my questions. He even replied my messages during weekend and at nights. The crew were made of his family members who are all very nice and polite. They helped me as much as they could. For example, I asked them to threw out everything in my shed, which is not included in the scope of this project. They did that without charge. They also added nice white lattice under my deck which prevent the animals going underneath. The project was delayed due to the permit application as my town required certified plot plan. I had to pay extra money and time to find a surveyor to provide the certified plot plan. There was also extra work required by the town which was unexpected. I wish Dean and his team had some experience dealing with Westwood town before. But overall, everything went well after the project started and we are very happy about the outcome.

Cleaned up nicely- other than a some expected missed nails. ?They obviously had to take down the?satellite dish and went up and beyond and tried to put it back up but we couldn't get a signal.?Direct TV charged us $50 to come out and reinstall it- not a huge deal and I understand they aren't responsible for that- just unexpected that direct TV would charge us.??Only downside is that the dumpster stayed on my driveway for another 4 days so we had to park on the street. Initially it was going to be there for another 6 days- but it was picked up earlier. Roof looks great.?Dean even checks in to make sure we were satisfied. I highly recommend.?

I bought a house and barn 1 year ago.The 2 story barn had been neglected for 30 years. The roof leaked about 1-2 gallons per rain storm.Some roof boards were rotted. In the Fall of 2015 I called about 8 roofers that advertised in the local paper. No one called me back.I'm a retired carpenter and construction site supervisor and I was surprised at the lack of interest in my barn! Sure it's 100 years old and has only 800 square feet of roof but why can't a contractor make money on " small jobs " like this? I gave up looking till spring when I found the Durable Remodeling website. The idea of listening to the customers concerns and doing it right the first time are timeless values . This got my attention! Dean seems to be advertising accurately. He is a good listener and has set up a business to adapt to the concerns of a homeowner's struggle to maintain a home. His workers repaired my rotten roof boards, installed the roof and cleaned up my yard and my neighbors yard in1 day as promised! It looks great! Thanks Dean!

Dean promptly contacted my after my initial request online for an estimate. He offered to come on. Saturday morning at 10:30, but no later than 11:39am. I skipped a family event for this appointment, and Dean never showed. I called him at 12:30 and left him a message. That was over a week ago and he has still not called me back, nor do I expect him to. I have heard tradesman that are busy will change their mind on the fly if they don't feel they need or are interested in a particular job. I get that, but there is no excuse for being down right rude. I wasted my day waiting for him!

Efficient and high quality. Dean was very responsive and easy going so it was nice to work with him. We discussed about the plan half a year ago before the actual appointment. When the time was close, he kept us updated about available dates, which was very nice for us to plan ahead. The team was on schedule and finished up within expected timeframe. After the job was done, Dean came back to make sure everything was fine and did some minor fixes.

Durable Remodeling replaced our back porch in October 2015 (see full review separately). A few months later, a decorative cap became detached from it railing post. We called Dean (who naturally answered his phone immediately) to let him know about this. Despite being engaged with another project in a another town miles away from us, one of his team was at our house THE NEXT DAY to make the repair. Not only did he secure the cap, he further reinforced all other railing caps to make sure that this problem would not re-occur. Suffice to say that Durable Remodeling stands by its work.

In October we had all our windows replaced by Dean and he gave us a quote for the siding project on our over 100 year old home which we accepted. The project involved removing 2 layers of clapboards and installing vinyl siding.Also it involved replacing gutters and fascia boards including replacement of the bulkhead. Dean and his crew arrived promptly on the agreed upon date and time in early December. They worked steadily for over 2 weeks. The crew arrived promptly each day and were excellent workers. The project was completed on Christmas eve afternoon except for the shutters and some minimal exterior painting. These were done right after New Year's day. We are very pleased with the quality of the work and the reliability of the crew. They worked hard and took pride in their work. Clean up was done each afternoon. We would highly recommend Durable Remodeling!

We had an old, unsafe porch. We went to Angie?s list to find someone to evaluate and fix. Some businesses were busy, some were unprepared, and some didn?t get back to us. Dean from Durable Remodeling came out and not only gave us a fair estimate but advice on how to stabilize the structure until our appointment date. Everything about the job was laid out to us and clear. Much appreciation and praise towards Dean Willette/Durable Remodeling for their carpentry craftsmanship, professionalism and exemplary customer service. They showed up, tore down existing structure, and the only thing left behind was our new porch in approximately two days as promised. They were able to reapply the original moldings and side door for access under the porch, and restored our confidence in the safety and beauty of the stairs leading to our home. This job was well worth the money.

We contacted five contractors and only heard back from two. Dean visited us the day after our initial phone contact to size up the job. He was reluctant to take on the job initially, as he suspected some hidden structural damage that would take us beyond the scope of what we wanted done, which was simply replacing the porch decking, stairs, and stair railing. His quote of $9500.00 was based on what we originally wanted done, but he was up front with us about potential additional costs if problems were uncovered. Although the other quote we received was about 20% less than Dean's, we just felt a bit more comfortable with Dean. Needless to say, extensive rot and structural damage was revealed on the first day, accounting for the additional $7000 cost. Dean promised there would be no more surprises and that they would fix everything according to building code and that they would be back every day until the work was complete. He and his crew (two long-time tradesmen and family members) were back early each day until the job was done. Dean had to make several trips to the local Home Depot to pick up material that was not originally anticipated. He did several extras without deviating from his estimate. He did not leave us hanging by juggling multiple projects at the same time. He answered his phone every time we called. The same three people (including Dean) performed the work each consecutive day of the four-day project. They are all polite, professional, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and very easy to work with. Dean is a man of his word and we wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.

Dean's crew of Bob and Richie worked to replace a very dated porch. The porch was an eyesore, and was in very bad shape - so bad, that it was leaning. The porch was installed incorrectly, and did not have the proper supports. Dean's crew built me a brand new porch that was structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing. They were always early, and worked hard right through the day. I never saw them stop! They left in the Afternoon, but they completed so much work each day it was unbelievable! They worked efficiently and smartly, and displayed confidence through craftsmanship and professionalism. Dean worked with me, and tried to save me as much money as possible - especially with the materials. Everything was cleaned up neatly each day. No mess was ever left. Always a clean neat work site. At the end of the install, they saved me all the materials that were left, and they suggested I return whatever I could to save some additional money. It was amazing to see this project progressing and finally done because it was such a relief to see the old porch gone...these guys did a FANTASTIC job - I can't say enough! I would very highly recommend them for any project, and would definitely use them again! Thanks again Dean, Bob and Richie! Great job!

Work went very well with no surprises. Old wooden deck and stairs were removed and replaced with a composite. Dean worked directly with me on the initial quote to go over all the options and was able to quote right on the spot. The price was competitive and the work was completed as scheduled without any delays or interruptions in a highly professional way. Would highly recommend Durable for any similar work.
