Description of Work: Hired to do an addition and renovations to home. Started great, paid all invoices on time but then abandoned job once 85% complete. Kept saying coming next week but never did. After about 6 months stopped answering our calls and returning messages. Eventually had to hire another contractor to finish work that we had paid original contractor to do. Also had to go the town hall to close out his open building permits.

Terrible experience. They began work and started putting up the boards. they left scrapes on the hardie board, hand prints on the trim, caulking all over the house, nails all over the yard. the crew shot a nail gun several dozen times through a water pipe. the guy even bragged about it to his crew in front of me. we did not know for days the extent of the damage. i started cleaning up puddles in the kitchen and wondering where the water was coming from. i informed Bud of the problem. he said - no worries, we just need to caulk the trim. they caulked the trim. water kept puddling in the kitchen. i kept cleaning it up. the trim separated from the wall even though it had been caulked. i called them again. a guy came over. no worries he says. we just need to tarp the outside due to the rain. must be the rain getting in some how. i kept questioning him as he tried to leave. suddenly it occurred to me to look in the basement. well, when i did the basement was flooded with water. it would have taken a few days for that much water to have filled the floor. anyway -Bud Haworth did not call for a professional cleaning service ( which we now know was the right thing to do). he gave me an old fan and his crew asked me to get a sump pump as Bud did not have a good one. (Nice!). Bud assured me that nothing had gotten wet. Nothing was damp. There was no way we would get mold as the water had not been down long enough to get mold (now we know that was a lie). when i asked Bud about how buckled and cupped the hard wood floors were from the wet that had been leaking through for days he told me that was "normal" and no problem. (another lie). the kitchen is exactly 4 years old. the floors were perfect before this guy came along. So, we now had a hole in the kitchen wall to expose the pipe, the trim is pulled off, the floors are damaged, and the basement is flooded. He closed up the wall in the kitchen before the interior was dry, and then sent me an out of work realtor to do the painting, and trim work. Bud Haworth is all about cutting corners. Bud Haworth did a completely half assed job of cleanup. he left multiple items in the basement that were damp and wet, after having assured me that everything was ok. nothing got wet. and that he moved everything. we were told all we had to do was leave the fan on to air out the basement which we did. For weeks! we left on vacation and came back to a house which smelled of must. we opened the basement door and found the basement and everything in it covered in mold. we called Bud to come fix the problem and we have not heard one word from the guy other than to say that his insurance would cover it (which it does not). so, we now have damaged floors in our new kitchen, damaged walls, we have had to move the refrigerator so we do not have access to it (and all the food in it has gone bad), we have lost thousands of dollars worth of family items and mementos that were stored in our basement. some which have had to be destroyed due to the mold (all of our christmas stockings, my daughters crib, other precious irreplaceable items). we have had to shell out 10 thousand dollars to a mold abatement company to rid the basement of mold. they also had to put up a containment in the kitchen as they found mold in the wall where Bud Hawirth had "fixed" the pipe as he did not let it dry out properly before closing up the wall. we have damaged hard wood floors, we have damaged walls and ceilings (as we had to pull out the built in fridge to get to the floors underneath it) due to his mistake. we need to move out of the house while they refinish the floors so we will be out money for that. he destroyed our home. he destroyed precious belongings that are irreplaceable. he took our money. he stole from us and has decided not to own up to his mistake. we will have to pay for his mistake for a long time. if we sell the house we now have to disclose mold. if we go with our insurance to get money to cover some of this then WE pay a deductible AND most likely higher insurance premiums IF we don't get dropped from our carrier for HIS mistake.
Description of Work: Bud Haworth was to re- side the entire house in hardie board
