Mr. Primo is a very industrious man and willing to consider customers concerns. When I told him I did not want to lose any of my walkway he ingeniously was able to lift the whole step and raise it to the level of the driveway. He also repaired parts of the walkway and did not charge me for it. No matter when I called him he promptly returned my call.
Description of Work: Excavated, removed and disposed of old driveway approximately 2260 sq ft. Installed crushed stone with stone dust. Power rolled each layer with 4 ton vibratory roller.

This was the first company to call back after a bad ice storm. They were polite and gave an estimate over the phone of the cost. They were willing to come right away and we made a plan for the next afternoon. They came and did the job in about 20 minutes. They sanded after plowing.
Description of Work: We needed to have our driveway plowed after a snow/ice storm. Our driveway is the length of the house.

Fantastic. I called Joe the day after a storm. The snow had frozen over night and there was no way I could even begin to put a dent in the driveway. He was open and honest about when he could get to my home and honestly over delivered on the timing. He went beyond my expectations and scrapped the driveway and sanded it to ensure I could get my car in. He is a nice guy. I want to have his company remove snow from now on.
Description of Work: Scraped, sanded, and plowed the driveway. The driveway was basically solid ice after a ice/snow storm.

Overall, I found Mr. Primo to be very professional and helpful. He was very forthright which was great. He also volunteered to bring a person with a shovel during the weekend to get the remaining snow from front of the garage and our walkway if the temperatures were not as frigid for a relatively small additional dollar amount. It was very clear that he really wanted to do his best to help.
Description of Work: Removed hardened snow from driveway and put salt down. I called them when our regular company failed to show up (assume went out of business). We were desperate and he agreed to help out right away. He told us upfront that given he had regular clients he could not predict when he would show up; however he promised that he would come for sure. When I called back a couple of hours later he told me that they would come late afternoon which they did. They had to remove hardened snow as it had not been plowed in over 24 hours and the temperature was frigid. He also told me upfront that given the amount of time elapsed he could not get everything off with just the snow plow as his company did mostly commercial work and homes with easy driveways where there was no need for a shovel. He then cleaned the driveway as best as was possible with the plow. Then he put salt to try and melt the snow in front of the garage which could not be removed with the plow.

I called Primo Paving around 5:30 PM because the original person I had hired for snow removal never came. Primo Paving returned my call promptly, briefly discussed the job, and arrived within an hour to plow my driveway. He did a nice job and made sure I was happy with it before he left. I was very satisfied with the service since I have a long driveway and didn't think I'd be able to find anyone at the last minute. I would definitely call him again and he would be first on my list in a snow emergency.

Joe and his crew did a very good job. Joe certainly was committed to making sure that we were completely satisfied with the work. The final price was exactly what he had given as an estimate even though the driveway that had to be dug out was significantly thicker than expected. When the walkways were not exactly as we had expected Joe came back another day to change them. I would definitely recommend Primo Paving.
Description of Work: Dug out 24x34 foot driveway in the back of our house. Dug out area in front of house for new driveway (22x30 feet). Paved new driveway. Removed 2 concrete walkways and installed two brick paver walkways in their place. Paved a 2 foot by about 60 foot asphalt apron along the back of the house. Delivered and spread 25 yards of loam in the back. Fixed a few loose brick in the foundation and front steps.

I don't understand this company at all. I tried many, many times to contact them and they were completely unresponsive; I ended up using someone else. Then I had another job at the same site and called them again. They apologized profusely (and bad mouthed the work the other contractor did) and actually came out to look at the job. Now it's been 3 weeks with no response and no quote. Phone calls are unanswered. I just don't get it. If they can't handle all the business why don't they just tell me they're too busy instead of wasting my time! By the way, when I told him how much I'd paid the other contractor, he said it's just as well I chose them because he would have charged me several thousand more! As it happens, I was very happy with the work of the other company, Cooper Bros. Paving. If I were you, I would just call Jim at Cooper Bros., save a lot of money and time.
Description of Work: Work was not performed, despite my best efforts!

THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO THIS COMMENT ABOUT MY PERFORMANCE. THIS CUSTOMER DID CONTACT ME AN WANTED A QUOTE INSTANTLY. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I CAN GIVE AN ESTIMATE THE SAME DAY OR WITHIN 1-2 DAY TURN AROUND. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THIS GENTLEMAN, IT WAS CLEAR TO ME THAT HE WANTED ME TO PERFORM ILLEGAL WORK. THE JOB BEING A SET OF STAIRS LEADING TO AN BASEMENT APARTMENT. THIS CUSTOMER DID NOT WANT ME TO PULL ANY PERMITS TO PERFORM THIS JOB. I DO NOT DO ILLEGAL JOBS AND I PULL PERMITS FOR ALL JOBS THAT REQUIRE IT. IF HE FOUND A COMPANY THAT DOES THIS TYPE OF WORK THAT IS HIS OWN BUSINESS. PLEASE REFER TO MY RECORDS ON JOBS THAT I HAVE COMPLETED AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THERE ARE NO COMPLAINTS. THANK YOU, JOE PRIMO

Joe was responsive to my initial call in fairly short order, there was a little delay with the answering service, and there may also have been the loss of a phone message on this end and he came out promptly to have a look at the job. After we spoke of and agreed on the project, and after my wife and I had gone to work the following day, Joe and his team came to start the work. They were done with the prep work before I got home in the mid-afternoon, though my wife had come home earlier to find a caravan of heavy equipment trucks lining the road; all the equipment that was needed for the work. After the weekend and a day of rain the whole team was over even before we were out of bed, and they were finished shortly after noon or 1 PM. The Angie's List discount we received worked out to almost 6% off of the original cost quoted.
Description of Work: Joe (& Co) tore up and removed our entire driveway, including: the stump of a tree we'd had taken down the previous week, and the stretch of roots that had been underneath the driveway, making it an eyesore, an ornamental wall, about 25 feet long and 3 feet high, that had been put up long ago by the previous owner; a mason. Two cement slabs: one, sort of a sill the width of our one-car garage and about four feet front to back; the other, a large remnant of a small previous driveway expansion, and two cement curbs, one the length of the driveway, the other about half that. A new driveway was then laid, over 6 to 12 inches of gravel and crushed stone; fresh new loam was placed and spread over a large area between the former wall and the driveway, for future plantings; the driveway was graded away from the garage and the house; and our flagstone walk was raised to facilitate runoff to the driveway.

Primo Paving is quite busy so once I was able to get on his schedule the job went very smoothly. He took extra time to ensure he was able to see the job first, give me an estimate and then scheduled the work. During the his examination of the job, Joe Primo gave me good advice on how to do the best job possible - that is, how to make the driveway look as good as possible and how to make it last. We went with his advice and are very pleased with the outcome.

I called Promo Paving about repaving our driveway (which clearly needed fixing). Joe Promo came quickly and gave what seemed to be a reasonable estimate of $5700 for a 9' x 85' driveway. After we agreed on the job, Joe came within a few days to do the work. Because there was some cracking in the foundation wall adjacent to the driveway, Joe came into our basement to look at the wall from the inside. The basement floor needed major repair because of settling under the house and I had been looking for a contractor for this project. Joe offered to also repair the basement floor, fill in all foundation wall cracks, and "butter coat" the interior (unfinished) basement walls, and also do some additional minor patch work for an additional $3600. Overall, I was very pleased with his work, his promptness, his professionalism. He quickly put me at ease that these two jobs would be done right. I definitely recommend him and also would be glad to use his services again.
Description of Work: Our old driveway was removed, a crushed stone base was install, and then a new driveway was surfaced. A new concrete floor was installed in a portion of our unfinished basement. Some cosmetic cracks were filled in the foundation walls and the interior wall in half of the basement was resurfaced. Some additional patch work in the basement floor was also performed.

They came out to do the estimate within 2 days of us calling. There was no written estimate presented, however, because we were told that they only write up estimates for people who agree to have them to do the work. We thought this was unprofessional. But their estimate was substantially higher than the others, so we decided not to use them.
Description of Work: We got an estimate from Primo on paving a 900 square foot driveway. Their estimate was $6400, which was $2000-$3000 higher than our other estimates, so we decided to choose a different company.

After asking to get a bid from him ASAP, he met with us the next day! He showed up on time and was well prepared. He took measurements that day & gave us an estimate the next. It took other companies weeks to send out a rep, who simply took measurements and then days more to get back a bid which invariably was incomplete and required follow-up which took even longer. We had a meeting & unanamously accepted Joe Primo's bid and within a few days had a signed contract. With a project of this magnitude & the many neighbors involved, many questions arose, many requiring a response from Joe. He not only responded, but personally visited individual neighbors to deal with issues and quell nerves. The project took a few days. It went flawlessly & Joe was there the entire time personally doing it, and overseeing all aspects of the job. He went above & beyond what you would expect from any contractor & made what seemed to be the impossible, possible. I would not hesitate to use Joe Primo again.
Description of Work: Completely paving over two private roads. 1. 1700' x 32' & (1) 650' x 25' by leveling, installing base coat & finish coat. I live on a private road whose condition had deteriorated so badly that we had no choice, but to make an improvement for the sake of safety. No easy task for we are 31 homes with 60 homeowners with varying opinions and financial situations. We put this project out to bid to 5 different companies. Fortunately for us Joe Primo came recommended to us by another neighbor in the same situation who had recently had the same done to his street. Joe's price came in below the others. He was the only principal to meet with us in person to explain several options and processes and answer questions. He impressed us with his knowledge and experience. He owns and operates all of his equipment. He went above and beyond what was spelled out in the contract to make all of us satisfied customers. Our road looks beautiful and we couldn't be happier.

Joe DePrimo owns the company and was in charge of every step. He was very responsive to our requests for extra services (trench for electricity, drywell, pavers instead of asphalt) and has an excellent eye for how things should look. The old driveway was much thicker than expected, and required extra time and effort to remove. Grading from garage to street (65') was about level, and he raised the new garage floor about 3'' to get better drainage. Joe is a very pleasant person to do business with. He knows how to do the job well, comes when he says he will and completes the work in good time. We would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: Cement driveway and garage floor were removed, a new cement floor was poured in the garage with a new asphalt driveway. A small planting area was created with cobblesones beside the house, a trench was dug for an electric line to the garage, and pavers were set between the driveway and the cellar door. When an existing drywell was discovered to be working, PVC was installed and 2 downspouts connected.

Joe impressed us with his concern for doing the job right, and with his desire to leave us completely satisfied with the finished project ( call me anytime if you have a question or concern ). Based on his work, we are also hiring him to do the seal-coating. We love the driveway and our friends think it looks great. Finally, the driveway no longer needs to be mowed. Thanks, Joe.
Description of Work: Joe came out and explained in detail how he would repave our seriously neglected, downward sloping driveway. He explained the quality of the materials he would use, his strategy for dealing with an existing concrete section, and he thoroughly addressed our concerns for drainage and pooling water. He also volunteered to remove some materials left by a previous contractor, and a rusting 15 chain link fence next to the driveway (at no extra charge!).

I highly recommend Primo Paving. Joe puts his heart into his work. He personally supervised the project and made sure that everything was done right. Joe and his crew are courteous and professional. Joe had creative ideas for accomplishing our objectives. Joe is very busy, so don't get frustrated if it takes him a few days to get back to you, or if you need to track him down. He's worth the wait. Once he's on the job, however, he becomes extremely responsive (which is why I am giving him an ''A'' for responsiveness).

This job was professionally handled from start to finish. We actually chose Primo Paving despite the fact that we had a lower competing bid, and we were very glad that we did.
