 + -1 moreThis is the second time I've been ignored by Primo Paving (last spring 2009 and now last week) I called for an estimate on having my driveway dug up and repaved. I called the alternative number provided and spoke with someone for a few seconds but the call was dropped (they were on a cell). I then called the office number and got a recording so I left a message to call me. It is a week today and I have not heard from them. I called one other paving company from Angie's list and spoke with someone immediately who later that day stopped by my house to give me an estimate. I then called another non-Angie's List company (local town paver) the same day and left a voice message. He returned my call within 15 minutes and them swung by later that day to also provide a written estimate. I tried to give Primo Paving the benefit of a doubt but I'm through with unresponsive companies.

 + -1 moreIt was a very good experience. Actually had the estimate done last fall but put off the work until spring. Joe was very responsive for both the initial estimate and when we called back to schedule the work. Both times he called back the same day and came the next day to take a look. He did the work in the time frame that he estimated and was very professional. He and his crew even did a few "extras" like removing and transplanting a rose bush, patching some holes in a concrete walkway and fixing a sticking gate. There was some question about whether we received a discount for being Angies list members. There was a 5 month gap between the original estimate and the estimate at the time we actually scheduled the work so the discrepancy could be attributed to a gap in my memory. All in all, though, I would say it was a very good experience and would definetly hire Primo again.
Description of Work: The work consisted of removing the old driveway, regrading to pull water away from the house and putting in new pavement.

Description of Work: Contacted PRIMO by phone for an estimate for resealing driveway. Joe was very willing to discuss my questions and gave me a very fair estimate. He offered to come out the very next day to give a detailed written estimate. It is too early in the season to have the work done, but I would definitely use him when the warmer weather rolls around.

 + -1 moreI called the company and Joe answered and was willing to come out right away. He has a nice clean truck and a professional appearance. He worked hard to tell me that he only uses the finest stones, he's the only one who puts on a full 3" binder coat and 3" top coat. He was easy-going and put an estimate together on the spot. I told him his estimate seemed high compared to 2 others I had gotten and he immediately took $800 off the $5100 he quoted me. I asked him again if this was his best price and he told me that he'd be willing to match any price that was really a fair comparison. I got estimates from 2 more people and he was the highest by a lot. I chose a different contractor and am very happy with the work I got and glad I didn't overpay.

Description of Work: These guys were wonderful. They quoted the job, and then came back and did expectional work. They went above and beyond and corrected problems in our driveway that we did not even know we had. When they had questions they called and checked inbefore proceeding. I would highly reccommend them to anyone. They were one of the highest quotes we received but well worth it. He actually was able to point out to me why some of the other quotes were ridiculously low and the reasons why his was not (does not use recycled materials). They were very professional and finished the job in the time alotted. They were able to coordinate with our fence company and managed the details of that.

 + -1 moreJoe came by and gave me an estimate. He gave me some hints on how to evaluate the bids and told me what he intended to do. He gave me a written estimate. After I awarded him the job, he called and asked if was okay to start in 2 days. I told him okay and he and his men and equipment arrived as he said. They got right to work but were slowed down by the thickness and reenforcing steel in the old driveway. They were able to handle it but they were not able to finish the job in one day. They were very thorough in preparing the driveway and did more than I expected with the drain. At the end of the first day they left everything in good order. On day 2 they finished the job even leveling my sidewalk which is not part of the driveway. Again they left everything cleaned up and in good order.
Description of Work: Remove old concrete driveway and install new asphalt driveway. Install drain trough.

 + -1 moreI called Primo Paving late afternoon, and they came over right away and provided a quote for ripping up existing narrow driveway that was in disrepair due to age and tree roots. The project I was requesting was to replace existing driveway, widen the driveway and install front step. The quote was reasonable. A day after we accepted the quote, the called and asked if they could do the work the next day. All of this was done within one week. They were incredibly efficient, professional, courteous of neighbors and did extra work such as repairing the curb on the street and filling in some holes at the end of a neighbors driveway with extra asphalt. They were terrific. This is THE paving company to use!
Description of Work: Primo Paving ripped up existing driveway and replaced with new wider driveway. Installed granite front step.

 + 0 moreWe called 10 places in the area, and Joe from Primo was the only person willing to spread the stone he delivered on our condo's driveway. He showed up quickly, gave an immediate estimate, and talked me through what he would do and how long it would take. When we decided to go with him he was available to do the job within the week. He was prompt, professional, and did a great job on the driveway in under three hours.
Description of Work: Joe and co. came in a Bobcat and graded the 3-space parking area, pulled out weeds, and spread the truckload of stone that he delivered.

 + -1 moreAfter we had agreed on a price, it took many calls and many weeks to persuade Mr. DePrimeo to come and do the work. When he finally set a date he wanted more than twice the original estimate. On arrival I got him to reduce his price, but still not to the original estimate. The work was OK, but I had to ask Mr. Deprimeo to come back and respray some areas that had not been completely sealed. This he did promptly.

 + -1 moreTore up a very old, degraded, too narrow concrete driveway that did not direct water away from the house with a wider asphalt driveway with cobblestone edging. The work was done in a day and a half and the final result is fantastic. The only problem was Joe told us that the work would be done in a week or two after the contract was signed, but due to other projects, it took about 6 weeks to do the work. The price was fair compared to other quotes we got, and it seems like they are in demand due to the quality of their work

 + -1 moreSee above. This is the first negative post I have made to ANGIE'S LIST. I am surprised by the positive reviews for this company. As a former sales manager (30 plus years), I would never have allowed this to happen to any of my customers. There are other contractors out there who are willing and able to return phone calls, and who are professional in their practices. Primo Paving does not strike me as one of those contractors.
Description of Work: I called Primo Paving on a Thursday afternoon. On Monday afternoon I called again, since my call had not been returned. I managed to talk to someone who instructed me to call back on his cell phone right away so that he would be sure to respond as soon as possible. It is now two weeks later, I have received no returned phone call from Primo Paving, and have contracted my job with another company.

 + -1 moreLater that day, a landscaper friend of Joe's stopped by to evaluate the situation. He also tried to blame it on the septic system, the water table, underwater springs and the rain. I went to the town hall to investigate these possibilities and found that these are not the issues. 2 other companies tell me it is a grading issue. It is all uneven and still has the trenches. I waited for 2 weeks, on 8/19, I called Primo, left a message reiterating problems and investigation results. I told him that I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the work. I said I would pay for the loam but wanted to recoup the labor costs since it was going to cost me that to correct the problems he created.He has not returned my voicemail. He also would not honor my Angie?s List coupon on a pervious job saying he already gave me a good deal.I know he received my voicemail since he answered the phone when I called back to leave the rest of my message.
Description of Work: I had him come last fall to put in a new driveway, I was satisfied at the time, told him I would call back in the spring to have driveway sealed. I asked that he return and re-sealcoat since the sealcoating was not evenly distributed. Last fall my septic tank was removed from the back yard, I asked him to give me an estimate for re-grading my back yard, putting in sand and loom. He gave an estimate and I agreed to it. June 2 he started the day having equiptment problems in my backyard, this delayed the work and he spent the rest of the day hurrying, playing "catch up"; during this day he also exposed two buried french drain pipes from his heavy equiptment riding continuously over the same area. He did the work then left. In June there was a few weeks of rain, looking at the backyard it was obvious there was a drainage problem, the yard became a swamp and ultimately killed a Japenese Maple my children gave me. Living here over thirty years, there has never been a drainage problem. I called Joe and explained the condition of my yard. He blamed it on the rain and my non-existant septic system.I asked him to come look at the area and correct the problem. The re-grading he did on the side of the house developed trenches 4-6" wide and deep, the length of the property. He came back and said he would take care of it in about a week. I did not hear back from him, so I called him. He said he'd be here in the morning.He then called the next morning, Aug.5 and said he couldn't make it and would send 2 other workers. One guy sank up to his ankles in the swamp, I showed them the whole area that was re-graded, I asked them how they would fix it,Joe had told them to just fill in area with 3 bucket shovels worth of dirt. One of them called Joe, I asked to speak with Joe and Joe started yelling at me, saying he was always trying to accommodate me. I gave the phone back ,I don't speak to anyone that yells at me. I asked them to leave, as I did not want them to halfway complete the job.

 + -1 moreI called the day before to get a quote ($450), but underestimated the driveway size quite a bit by mistake. Joe came and explained that the driveway was several times larger than I had said, but only asked for another $50. However after one coat, there was still some serious cracking, so Joe recommended another coat for an additional $400. The result looks good and the work was neatly done.
Description of Work: Resealed a large driveway that probably had not been sealed for nine years.

Joe came over the next day as promised and spent about 45 minutes discussing various options based on my budget for the asphalting of my driveway. Joe is extremely knowledgeable and very personable too. I told him I would think about it and would call him back. I called him and he made up a time and day to do the work on the driveway. There was rain in the forecast so Joe called me the day before and rescheduled it to a different day. Joe and crew (5 people) showed up as promised and spent considerable time with all their large equipment, and not only did a perfect job, but asked me during the job, if he could do a couple of extra things at no charge. All in all the experience was very positive and I would highly recommend anyone to use Primo.

 + -1 moreFrom estimate to job completion, Joe was very professional. We had some communication problems when I first called a month earlier for an estimate and he was busy and needed to cancel our initial meeting. I got busy looking for other estimates and didn't get back to him, but if he had called back, I would have given another shot. After a while, I called and he came to my house the same day to give an estimate because he realized that we dropped the ball the first time around. When he came for the estimate, we looked at the options and discussed pavers and granite and asphalt for the projects and he came up with what were good advice on the materials and what would look best with our house. The price was reasonable and given some time constraints, I was happy to hear that they could do the work in the next week for the driveway. Once we gave the go-ahead, we scheduled to have the driveway done that same week. They came back two days later and finished the driveway that same day. At that time Joe gave us his estimate for the walkway and stoop and as went ahead with the second job. He and his crew arrived the next morning and began the walkway and stoop. They finished the second job in 2.5 days. Joe was on the site most of the time and watched the progress closely. He had his workers rework the curved section of the walkway since the curve was not consistent. I'm very satisfied with the work they did and would recommend them. A neighbor saw the driveway work and asked for his contact information which I did without hesitation.
Description of Work: Removed old asphalt single-car-width driveway. Removed solid concrete section. Widened driveway to be two cars wide and poured new asphalt on new base. Extended to be wide path along side of driveway and continued into short path in backyard. Dug and buried new posts for portion of fence. $5,400 Removed old front walkway and stoop which was concrete and flagstone. Created new front stoop using solid granite steps and pavers on top. Created new walkway with pavers and one more granite step at end. $6,900

While this was not a repair I thought would have much of an impact on the appearance of the driveway, it looks terrific! I can recommend him wholeheartedly. He's a pleasure to talk to, as well.

 + -1 moreJoe is very easy and enjoyable to deal with. From the start, he gave me very good advice about my steep driveway and what would be best to do. As soon as the three weeks of rain were over, he was ready to do the job. Also, he brought a big crew so the job could be completed in one day. They all worked very hard, and Joe was here to supervise the whole job. That is always important to me - having the boss present to supervise. I definitely recommend this contractor and company.
Description of Work: We had our difficult, steep driveway resurfaced with asphalt. In addition, we added a frame of cobblestones along the driveway sides. It looks wonderful!

Joe and his crew showed up on time, began work immediately, leveling all areas of our driveway 75x12. with fill as needed, rolled out all areas and began the resurfacing process. The crew worked very hard, my driveway has a slight incilne and a lot of work had to be done by hand.My wife was impressed by how the entire crew made an effort to keep the jobsite neat and clean while they worked. The completed job was flawless. Joe called and even came by a few days later to make sure we were pleased with the job. I highly recomend Primo's for anyone who wants Quality and experiance at a great price
Description of Work: Joe responded to my call within 24 hrs. He came out the next day and went over the entire job with me and my wife.He had some great ideas that made our property look better and actually saved us some money. I have dealt with contractors in my business for over 37 yrs and it's a pleasure to meet someone who shows up on time,does quality work and for a fair price. I have already contacted Joe for other work. There is no reason to call anyone else...Primo is the BEST. My thanks to Joe and his entire crew.

Once I returned the contract, he began the work in 5 days. He kept me informed of every issue; he obviously knows what he doing. The drive looks fantastic. He even helped me solve a clearance problem at the street entrance. Family business with personable owners!

The pool removal estimate was very high - he was going to use a bobcat ($); I went with a company that disassembled the pool by hand for much less. The other estimate for removing a Zoysia lawn was more competitive, but we wanted to go with a company with expertise in that area (Zoysia removal is very tricky and we wanted a company with proven experience removing that kind of grass in particular). The gentleman who provided a quote over the phone was polite and professional.
Description of Work: Called Primo Paving for estimates on two occasions this spring for landscaping work - one for removing an above-ground pool, another for lawn removal and hydroseeding.

Description of Work: I had Joe from Primo Paving out for an estimate to significantly regrade and then repave our driveway, which would include building a stone wall. I found Joe to be upfront, professional, confident but not cocky, and very collaborative in terms of discussing different options for the project. I really appreciate the fact that he both does the quoting and also oversees the work himself....makes me much more confident my needs have been understood clearly.
