The driveway sealing job was perfect, from my initial phone call to them to the day the job was done!!!! Will use them every time from here on in.

Got a quote and scheduled installation. Soonest they could get me in was Nov. 27th. We had to call to see if installation was still on. Normally, I would expect a courtesy call (standard business practice). Re-scheduled for Dec. 11th. Did get a courtesy call night before canceling installation with a vague reason of weather. Left voice message with Dennise requesting a call back. Did not contact me as requested but my wife. Left second voice message requesting a call back . As a consumer I expect a certain level of response and business courtesy. I understand weather constraints, but after being the victim twice makes me wonder if you truly want my business. Then add in the lack of response not sure if I'll use them.

Well that turned out to be blow the driveway with a leaf blower, run a weed wacker up both sides of the driveway and then breakout the spray gun and paint the driveway with sealant. My guess is they probably where there for less than 1/2 hour. I was away at the time and was stupid enough to pay in advance. (I figured how wrong could something like sealcoating the driveway go?) When I got home and looked at the driveway I was far from happy. I called them up to let them know I wasn't happy with the job and was told they would come out and look at it and fix whatever was wrong but they couldn't come for over a week. Well they came and looked at it (I was working and wasn't home). Next thing I have the guy on the phone that did it and he 's asking me what's wrong. I explained that on the proposal it said the driveway would be edged. He said it was edged. I asked if it was edged why do I have 4 inches of grass covering both sides of the driveway. I explained that if I edged it now I would have a 4 inch stripe up both sides of the driveway where there was no sealer. I asked if he actually used an edger, and he said "we weed wacked it" he didn't even know what an edger was. Hi exact words were "we don't even have one of those". I suggested then that maybe they shouldn't claim that they are going to edge. His response to that was he wasn't going to landscape my yard! Then I brought up the fact that the quote said they would fill all cracks and voids before sealcoating. None of my cracks were filled in. The whole conversation between us was going pretty sour so I said, hey look if you don't want to fix it and do what you said you would do on the proposal, no problem I will leave my review on Angies list based on this experience. As soon as I said that the whole conversation changed to "what would you like me to do to fix this? I explained that all I wanted him to do is what he proposed to do. Well they weed wacked the grass all the way off the driveway and sprayed it again. Am I happy, no. Would I use them again NO WAY. The worst part is I hired someone like this thinking I would get a professional job. Anybody can sealcoat a driveway. You expect to get a better job from someone that supposedly does it for a living (and hopefully has all the proper equipment needed) compared to someone like yourself who would only do it occasionally. Mistake with these guys. I would have been better off going up the street to home depot and buying the supplies and spending a Saturday doing it. I am 100% shure I would have been much happier with the results!

I live off a private road and have a relatively long driveway, so when I began my search for a company which could perform seal coating, crack filling, and repaving, I was looking for a company that would partner with me to help ensure I get a long life out of my asphalt. I received a couple of quotes. All quotes were pretty competitive and most companies said they would price match. I finally settled on John Cooper Paving and Sealing. While all the companies seem to do a hard sell, comparing themselves to the competition, I decided to go with John Cooper because their employee Kevin (who would be doing the job) said he would cut in around my house by hand as to not get any overspray on the building. They also promised to be responsive if there were any issues with the job (like rain the day of the seal coating). They provided a quote for the seal coating of the driveway and the road. As a new home owner and with many expenses, I decided to move forward with only the driveway. This job was done as requested and came out well. Following this job, Kevin solicited more work and said that he would be able to fill any cracks with hot rubber to protect them over the cold months. I was happy with the seal coating so I decided to have him seal the cracks for $400. Unfortunately, this is where everything went downhill. With each visit, Kevin tried to convince me to have the roadway sealed. He continued to lower the price. I told him I would consider it. He applied the hot rubber to three spots on the driveway and multiple locations on the roadway. I was told that the rubber has a very strong bond to the asphalt. According to Kevin, it would peel away the asphalt before coming up. I didn't find this to be the case. His application of the rubber was messy and there were blobs of rubber on my recently sealed driveway with trails of rubber between cracks. It was applied too thick, being about 1/8? above the surface a plow would have destroyed the seal. Kevin also missed a number of cracks and in some sections he got leaves stuck in the applicator leaving a blobs of rubber and leaves. Two weeks later I noticed that one of the "sealed" cracks actually started peeling. With two fingers the rubber came right up (I?ll try to attach a video to this review). Not even close to a professional job. I've had to purchase a propane torch and spend the last several weekends remelting the rubber to get a better bond and filling the additional cracks. This is a waste of my time and I would have been better off doing it myself. When he was doing crack sealing job, he made another offer to seal coat the road, stating that he had a left over tank he needed to empty before the winter. He offered to seal coat the roadway at a very low price. I finally agreed based on the price and the fact that the driveway had been nicely sealed. We scheduled to have this work done. It was delayed several times (once by Kevin, once due to the fact that I trying to fix all the cracks before the sealing, and once by the weather). When I tried to call to reschedule (several times), no response. Considering the shoddy work done with the crack sealing, perhaps I am better off. I had been so happy to have found a company that I thought would help me to maintain my roadway and driveway. It looks like the search continues. It doesn't look like I am alone based on the most recent reviews I've seen on Angie?s List. I have to wonder if the owners know how their employees are representing their company. UPDATE: The owner was kind enough to contact me following my review. She restated that she was not aware of the additional soliciting her employer had been doing. She also made it clear that the crack sealing work which was done was not completed by the company John Cooper. I showed her how the crack sealing had damaged the very nicely done seal coating job and she offered to redo the seal coating. However, she said that since the seal coating was applied recently, reapplying so soon would cause the coating to crack. As a result, she provided a no charge contract which is good until August 2015. I found this to be fair. Finally, she walked my driveway and private roadway and we discussed options for maintenance. I appreciated the follow-up and the effort to resolve my issues.

They showed up on the scheduled day, did the work and finished on the same day. It looks great. Very pleased. Highly recommend this company.

This is my second review. First I have them an A, before the work was done. Now I'll give them a C. The driveway just doesn't look as well as I thought it would. Maybe my expectations are to much. I will give them credit, they did come out twice and resealed some of the cracks. I just thought the driveway would look new. They were a pleasure to work with and everyone was very nice; the overall product wasn't what I was hoping for.

They had me stay home on the day that they were doing the driveway, and explained everything to me as they were doing it. They were very professional and courteous, and did a great job.

A couple small ladder dents in the driveway were not patched before sealing. The quote indicated gator patch would be used, which lead me to believe that these would be taken care of. I may have been mistaken. Other than that, they did a good job. I would use them again, but would clarify things like the above.

I read the positive reviews and indication that they did "repairs" I sent Cooper an email inquiry, describing the work I required to repair a very small portion of my driveway 12' x 4'. I hoped to get it done before the snow flies. The area is clean and neat, and just required an asphalt fill. No prep work necessary. Unfortunately, I was informed that the company is fully booked through the end of the year. I was disappointed. With such a small job, I would think they could find the time to engage a new customer and possibly gain another customer (my mother), whose entire driveway requires replacement. I guess the saying "no job too small" doesn't apply here.

The provider never return 2-3 messages requesting for a quote

It took them 3.5 hours as promised. They asked us to save 3 parking spaces for them. They were on time, very polite, and cleaned up after themselves. Would recommend them to all. They were the lowest price of the 3 companies we asked for a quote. The company is owned and run by a woman with good support staff in the office. Her son was on the job, learning the ropes.

They came in on Wednesday early, and finish up on Thursday pm. They did a superb job. I would recommend them to anyone.

John Cooper Paving was chosen over one other provider of similar services from Angies List. Both companies had equally high ratings and I received quotes from both. They seemed equally qualified for the work which was to replace my driveway and walkway. John Cooper was consideraly less expensive and based on that, I chose them. They arrived on time on the day of the scheduled job. The entire process went smoothly. The workers were professional and cleaned up thoroughly after finishing. I am very satisfied with the cost and quality of the driveway/walk. No hesitation recommending them.

They did an exceptional job.i would recommend them anytime to anyone.they are all so friendly and very informative.they are professional all the way.i called and Denise came out right away, she gave me a price on the spot. I called 8 companies and Denise made me feel comfortable right then and there and their price was better than most. They came to the house and looked at the property and did measurements. I was very interested in having seal coated by hand and they do it and they marked on the agreement as that was important to me. They explained me how they would cover the property so that the seal coating wouldn’t get on the grass. So I thought that was very nice and they were very professional. I was impressed with them.

In 2013,showed video of the amount of water and Denise explained that what she could have done wouldn't fix our problem. On the up and up and I liked that. Will definitely use when we decide to repave. October 2013, Denise came out again. Went over in detail what they could do to get rid of the enormous puddles, and add the additional space. In April 2014, they dug up the complete driveway, added the gravel, base and then the asphalt. Looks good and it is nice not needing boots to wade to my vehicle. Had an issue with power steering divots. No problem, promptly came out to rectify. Denise and the full staff were professional, courteous. Already recommended to several friends.

They broke the old driveway and replaced it with a whole new driveway. I have had a very good experience with them. The men were courteous. They were four or five of them here. They also did my back walk and if there was a question they asked. They were respectful. I have nothing negative to say about them. I would say to others that I had a very good experience with them and I would certainly recommend them to anyone. If they said they would be here at 7:30 in the morning, 7:30 they were here.

The comapny did a very good job time wise and schedule......They came in right on time 8am and was done at 12pm.

Denise came out to provide an estimate. She was professional and answered my questions. The quote was in line with two other estimates and I decided to hire John Cooper for the job based on their Angies List reviews. The crew showed up on time and completed the work as agreed upon. They worked fast, but did a great job. They were professional and answered a few questions I had during the process. The true test will come over the next year or two regarding how well the driveway holds up. But for now, by all accounts, the company did a great job and was professional throughout the process. Denise made a follow-up call after the job was done to make sure I was happy with the end result.

I called Cooper Paving and Denise Cooper returned my call the same day. She came out for a quote within three or four days, on a weekend so we could be home. Her quote took about 10 minutes, she listened carefully to my request, took some measurements and then sat in her truck and wrote the quote and hand delivered it to the front door immediately. We decided to use Cooper Paving before getting other quotes because the price was at the low end of the range that we expected based on what neighbors and friends have paid for asphalt paving. The driveway was scheduled for 8 am on a Tuesday, but the weather precluded them from coming. Denise called me the night before the scheduled installation to cancel and then called again to reschedule for the same week on Friday. They arrived on time and were polite. They reviewed the work plan with us before we left for work and when we returned home we had a new, perfect driveway. I would highly recommend this company. We have done many upgrades/projects at our house over the past six years and this was the easiest contractor/work I've ever had to manage as an owner. I was delighted with the experience!
