Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I called on a Friday evening and the dispatcher moved my call up because I had a stopped sewer line and could not use any plumbing services. Jerome Duplantier arrived twenty minutes later. He quickly handled the problem quickly. He was friendly and porofessional. I would definitely call Roto Rooter again.

For Roto-Rooter there was a technician that came out to our house and did a wonderful job. There was a squirrel in my sewer line. He took care of it in a very professional manner. I was having a plumbing problem with a toilet seal and he was able to help me with that, advice. Richard was the technician who came out for Roto-Rooter.

It went as well as a somewhat clogged sewer drain could go. I wasn't on site, however, my contractor was there. The hourly rate was $400 per hour. The labor came out to $1125 and it took 2.5 hours due to technical difficulties. My contractor managed to talk them into a $600 discount for a total of $525. There are coupons availalbe for $40 online. Compared with other plumbers, RotoRooter kept their appointment, came when they said they would, and got the job done. I haven't had a chance to assess the work, but I assume that once the project is finished, and water should drain fast enough. The experience could have been improved upon if they'd done everything in one appointment -- if they'd videoed the pipes and then immediately cleaned them.

The tech came in a gave us an estimate.The service went really well. I was able to use a $40 coupon from the website. Job was completed in less than 20 minutes

I gave them a B overall rather than an A simply because the plumber/technician first quoted me an outrageous price, then wound up doing the work for the price *I* wanted after I refused to pay their so called "regular price". That's also the reason I gave them a B rather than an A on price. Our kitchen sink drain was clogged. It has happened before and has been professionally snaked before, but not by this company. I called several companies based on a yellow pages search, Angie's List search, and internet search. So, I already knew from my search and from talking to several companies that the going price seems to be between $100 and $150 for my particular problem. This company (Roto-Rooter) would not quote a price via phone, but said the 'technician" would come out at no charge and evaluate my job and then quote a price which I could accept or reject. Some companies wanted to charge just to come out and give me a quote and some companies had a fixed price. One company had a discounted price for Angie's List members but couild not come out till the following Monday. So, I agreed to let Roto Rooter come out and give me an estimate. They woud not quote a price on the phone. The technician came out with 2 or 3 hours of my call. He called me first to give me an ETA and arrived within minutes of the promised time. The only problem, and the reason I gave them a B rather than an A, is that the technician quoted me their so called "regular fee" of OVER $200.... I think around $250. I was shocked and told him, "No way". I told him I had already called around and knew that the going rate was $100 to $150 dollars and that they are supposed to give a discount to Angie's List members. He then quickly offered to do the job for $125 since he was "already here". I agreed to that price. He performed the work quickly and efficiently and without making a mess using an electric power snake. He then used a camera on a snake and made a video of our drain line, letting me watch on the monitor as he made the video. He showed us what appeared to be a "low spot" in the drain line where water accumulates and stands, rather than all running out in the sewer as it should. He offered to let me make a copy of the CD of the viideo, but I was not able to copy it. He then offered us a gallon of their enzyme drain clog preventer/cleaner. It is normally about $50 a gallon, which I refused to pay. My wife and I offered him a total of $150 for both the drain cleaning and the enzyme clog preventer. He agreed to that, so we paid $150 total, which he wrote up as $100 for the drian cleaning and $50 for the enzyme, saying he could not discount the enzyme. Overall, we were pleased with the service and have no complaints other than him first trying (in my opinion) to overcharge us. I would use them again.

It was a very good service. He actually didn't have to fix anything and he didn't charge anything.

The serviceman tried to use an electric snake tool in the bathtub first, to no avail. Unclogged an adjacent vanity drain with the snake tool, which enabled the bathtub to drain. He also checked the shower drain as well. He even brought in his own towels and was very professional during the whole process.

The guy was courteous, although if you have just had new cabinets installed, you might want to tell these guys not to bang them open and closed while they are working. He spent about 6 hours doing the work. I guess from my standpoint I fell like this was a bit pricey, more pricey than a normal plumber. I would have expected something along the lines of $450-$500 as opposed to $760. I have used these guys before on other things and they did a good job. I guess my advice would be to make sure you have about 3-4 estimates from other licensed plumbers before you call these guys up. They do a good job but I think they are overpriced. At least on my end. I am not saying that you should take the lowest, but if you are like me and you have to make ends meet on a budget and you can't afford to blow your money on a lot of things, make sure you get some comparison estimates before moving forward. This was on a Sunday, and our regularly scheduled plumber did not show up, so we decided to get the work done even though we thought it was about $200-300 overpriced. The moral of the story I guess is to get multiple estimates, be ready to move on another estimate if the first one does not show, and be willing to wait a few days more to get the plumbing work done (try that when you have gone without water for 3-4 days already) if other contractor delays have pushed you back. So we will call them in the future for an estimate if we need work done, but not until we have other estimates to determine how reasonable theirs appears when I compare them to their peers.

Plumber surveyed the problem and gave me multiple estimates based on how he could solve the problem. He stood by his estimate even though he and a help spent nearly 3 1/2 hours and attempted multiple was to solve the issue.

We had them come out and clean our main sewer drain on a Sunday morning. They came out within an hour of our call. Although they were not able to clear the line they made every effort to do so and spent several hours working at it. They were careful and cleaned up when they were done. The line had partially collapsed and needed to be replaced. We had them come out and run a camera down the line and give us an estimate for replacement. The camera technician was not as punctual and did not leave us with a DVD of the inspection as promised. The estimate to replace the line was quite high, three times as much as we ultimately paid to a different plumber. I would definitely use them again for line cleaning but not for larger plumbing jobs.

I had to pay another company to fix the problem they made.

I called them directly without being referred to them by anyone. It took them forever to finish the job. They were very professional. They did a pretty good and nice job but not quickly. They showed up every alternative day. It took them seven days to finish it when they could have in three days. When it rained the next day I had eight inches of washout I had to fill up. They used the right code and even over code. I would use them again in the future.

They are local. They did a good job. I would use them again in the future.

They came out the day I called them. They did the job quickly with no mess.

They were nice. They didn't seem to know what was going on and they couldn't fix it. They were suppose to bring a camera and didn't show up.

I really didn't like the guy they sent out. He made some remarks he shouldn't make. He was very unprofessional.

The work was done awhile ago, but it was excellent overall.

They have locations all over. I had a stopped up drain and after we did some digging we found that my drain was full of roots. They took care of that for me.

They came out late on a Saturday night about an hour and a half after I called them. It didn't take long. They did a great job. Everything was clean when they left. It was all done in around 20 minutes. He was a nice person to speak with, very pleasant and professional. Everything has worked fine since then. I did call a couple of other companies and didn't get a call back until much later. I would definitely recommend Roto-Rooter.

When they came out, they ended up sending someone who didn't know what was going out. They sent his manager then, and when the manager came, he told me something totally different. I was very wary of the manager personally, and the quote was a ridiculously high amount. I would not consider calling them again.
