I hired this contractor to renevate my home after Katrina. Contractor issues... Had an oversized a/c installed in my home] ducts in attic were not jproperly sealed A/C return was not properly sized Exhaust fans in attic were not installed correctly to meet code can lights were not installed correctly to meet code Insulation was run all the way to eaves in attice so that outside vents were covered Penetrations through the slab were not sealed. Because the a/c was oversized the unit would turn on and off constantly. Our electric bills were outrageous and we could not understand why. After having several people come out I now know that when the unit is constantly coming on and off is when it uses the most electricity. I had a heat load calculation done on my home to verify this information. The insulation that Buckeye Contractors installed in my home was run all the way to the eaves in the attic. Because of this every time the attic fan would come on, there was nowhere for the air to come from since Buckeye had covered the vents that vented to the outside with insualtion. As a result the attic fan was constantly sucking air from the living area of the house into the attic. This along with the fact that the a/c was oversized pressure on the . This along with the oversized a/c created a negative pressure in the living area of the house, going from the living area of the house to the attic. The air conditionser ductwork was no. The ari conditioner ductwork was not properly sealed in the attic and the retrun vent was not properly sixed so this created an ever larger negative pressure in the living area of the house. Since all the air was beng sucked from the inside of the house to the attic, the replacement air had to come from somwhere so it was being sucked through all the penetrations in the slab that were not sealed. This was extremely moist air since it was comeing from beneath the slab. Since the air conditioner was oversized, it was not pulling the moisture out of the air that it should have because it was not staing on long enough to remove the moisture. This caused a huge moisture and mold problem behind all the walls and tubs in both bathrooms. Buckeye Contractors was made aware of these isssues in May of 2011. When all these issues were discovered I was assured by Chris Wilken of Buckeye Contractors over and over that he would "make it right" Buckeye came out the first part of june in 2011, gutted one bathroom, dissonected the tub and removed part of the wall surrounding the tub in the other bathroom. Once it became clear how big a problem it was, Buckeye contacted his insurance company and a claim was filed. Since this time numerous persons, HVAC contractors, plumbers mold remediation and insurance adjusters have inspected the house. I have not received a definitive answer from the insurance as of yet. I have been told by the insurance company that they have a mold exclusion in the policy and the mold would not be covered, yet the claim is still open. I have also been told by the insurance company and Buckeye's insurance agent the Buckeyw was given this information when the claim was filed July2011. I was told by Buckeye that a claim was filed and it was up to me to stay on top of the insurance company to get some resolution to the problem. I have been told by the insurance company that I am not their customer and that any time they talk to me, they are doing me a courtesy. Since June of 2011 I have been living in one befroom with only a half bath to remove myslef from the vevere mold areas in my home. I have told my numerous experts that it oculd be extremey detrimental to my health. Buckeye did bring out a dehumidifier to place in the master bath to try to discourage any additional mold grownth in ththt area and I have kept it running 24 hours a day since June of 2011. I have been calling the insurance incessantly. After leaving numerous messages on numerous occasions, and with no one returning my callls, I called Buckeye on February 13 and told him that for my oun health and saftey that I can not afford to linve under these conditions any longer. I was told he would have to talk to his jpartner and call me back in the afternoon. He called me back on February 14 and told me that he would not be coming back to repair any of the damage done to my home or replace any of the areas that he gutted and removed. I was told to have my lawyer call his lawyer. I have had several consultants come to my home to verify and document this informtion and so has Buckeye Contractors. I also have numerous pictures documenting all of this informatin. I am in serious danger of losing my home because of all these issues. Buckeye Contractors was not a company that came to New Orleans after Katrina. They were doing business and making money in Louisiana before Katrina and they still are doing business and making money in Louisiana presently. I am hoping I can prevent anything like this from happening to anyone else. this from happending
