"First I would like to apologize for the misunderstanding and lack of professionalism. If you were home you would have been completely satisfied, as was the gentleman present. Please let me help, just because you've been told by previous rug cleaning companies (who have charged over $250 to clean an 8x10rug) that it cant be done, doesn't mean it cant. You just had a wool rug cleaned on a wooden floor. When cleaning a thick wool rug with low moisture as it should be done, the bottom backing never gets wet. Most people don't realize that. There are companies that will charge over $250, and let you assume they're doing something special to your rug. They're not. They do what I did, maybe less, because my cleaners are top of the line, and expensive. At the bottom you wrote "the rug doesn't look bad" I would say the rug looked great. You got the exact same process (minus pickup/delivery) that you normally pay over $250 for. I apologize again for the misunderstanding, and hope after some time has passed that you now see that you received great work for a low price by an honest person."
The rug was returned on Friday at 11 am (of Memorial Day weekend) so they had the rug 4 days. It was rolled. They positioned it well on the pad and replaced the pedestals and glass table top adequately. They left.
Shortly thereafter I realized that the rug was wet, not just damp, but really wet. Did they actually just clean it that morning? Brought it back to me really wet after having it for 4 days? Put it on top of hardwood and a pad wet like that, plus replaced the pedestals/glass top which will NEVER allow the rug under them to dry? I called immediately, left a message, voicing my displeasure and indicating I would be calling back next week for them to return to move the table so the rug could dry underneath.
I kept ceiling fans/air conditioning cranked up all weekend. But it was Memorial Day weekend and I had 25 for dinner on Sunday night. The rug still felt damp to me but I had to go with it anyway. On Tuesday I called a number of times, left messages for them to come move the table so the rug under the pedestals could dry. Guess what? No response. Now I have to figure out how to move the glass table top and pedestals. And my house smells like wet carpet!
The whole reason for not having a rug like that cleaned in house is so that the hardwood underneath isn't exposed to that kind of moisture. If cleaning area rugs off site is beyond their capabilities they should stipulate that in the Angie's list offer. I do NOT recommend them for this kind of service. I just hope my hardwood hasn't warped!!
"First I would like to apologize for the misunderstanding and lack of professionalism. When temporarily moving rugs folding or rolling is acceptable. Folding in this situation was the better way to go because we were using a work van. When the rug was picked up Monday morning, I asked for the normal turn around time of at least one week. You told me you HAD to have rug back before the weekend because of your dinner plans over the weekend. We immediately began cleaned the rug, and got it in a dry room with fans and a dehumidifier for a quick turn around. We use thermal cameras and moisture meters to know when a rug is dry. I used moisture meters in front of you showing you the rug wasn't wet, that rug was as dry as the other rugs in your the house. You told me, your son even came over and told you, it wasn't wet. You must have written this review before we came back to move your table, so that under the table legs could dry. We then came back again to put the table back in place. We were there 4 times. We're absolutely capable of cleaning area rugs in our warehouse, as well as using a dry room to dry them within 4 days. Your hardwood was exposed to no moisture, and I think you now know your hardwood hasn't warped. I apologize again for the misunderstanding, and hope after some time has passed that you now see that you received great work for a low price."
