We had used this company before, the owner Lee Bland, works for a big electric company during the day and is running his own business in evening. We had been pleased with his previous work but they were small jobs. When we moved into a new house we hired him to do a few things.1. Add outlet to garage, and motion lights2. Put electric lines and outlets in 2 unfinished rooms in basement. He came and looked everything over gave no indication that there would be any problems. There availability is very limited since they don't work weekends and can't be there before 5, but he gave me no idea this would drag the job out. The first week they wired the garage, they couldn't come back until the next week when they ran the lines in the other rooms. They said as they were doing this they saw a "flash" in the breaker box which they said had nothing to do with them. They tried to find the problem but it was very late. I paid $500 for work already doneThey didn't return until the next week (multiple outlets were out) then they put multiple holes in finished ceiling trying to find problem. It was a mess!!! At 10pm they said they figured it out and would be back next wed. He said he needed to pay his guys and offered to not charge for his time foolish me, I gave an extra $100 for his time so paid another $400Wed am I texted him to make sure they were coming, No answer, texted later, he never called and never showed! Never heard from him until a week later

Response from Generation 4 Electric
I feel this review incorrectly represents my business for multiple reasons. First, in regards to allegedly having limited availability: Though it is true that working hours for this business are after 4pm during weekdays, I also perform work on weekends. Furthermore, all customers are informed initially that Generation 4 Electric is currently a part time business. When this was discussed with this particular customer, though other openings were offered, I was told that Wednesdays were the most convenient day for work to be done at her home. In response to multiple holes being put in the ceiling: While trying to track a dead circuit, from another portion of the ceiling I saw several junction boxes that had been covered over with drywall from work done before I was ever contracted by this customer. Before any holes were cut, I discussed with the customer that I would need to do so in order to check these junction boxes that were otherwise inaccessible. I do not feel that shoddy work done before me or very old, fragile wiring should be held against me. I should also note that the flash seen in the breaker box came from the old wiring, which was part of the problem that I was attempting to resolve, though I was not the creator of this problem. As far as having paid $500 dollars for work already done, I do not see that as a valid complaint since it was money owed for services already rendered. As for $400 being paid, approximately 8 hours were spent tracking wiring that was installed in an uncustomary manner by a contractor before myself. Lastly, the final Wednesday mentioned by the customer, I thought I had given the customer the impression that these plans were tentative. I must admit that I was unable to be reached that day because I did not get reception while performing work in a lead lined x-ray room on another job site. I did attempt to contact the customer several times a few days later. I regret this lapse in contact and do not make a habit of doing this. I would have loved to have the chance to make this customer happy because they seem like good people and I would much rather have repeat business than disgruntled former customers.
