Engineered Heating and Air

Very satisfied with the services provided. We initially used them for a HVAC inspection which was very thorough. We've had them out a few times since for maintenance checks and a service call. Scheduling appointments is very easy and everyone I've spoken with on the phone is very friendly and helpful. The service technicians have been very professional and honest.

I have utilized their services couple of times in last 1 year and have always been extremely satisfied with the responsiveness, quality of work and price. I would recommend them without any reservations (and I'm a hard to please person too!).

Contacted provider by phone to inquire about possible ventilation service - was told by secretary that owner was out but she would have him call me ASAP. Owner never returned call from a week ago & never responded to email inquiring about failure to return call. Provider may perform excellent work when they show up, but getting them to return calls proves a challenge.

From the time of the estimate, it was obvious they knew their job. They came early and finished the job quickly. They showed us how to install the filters and how to operate the new thermostat. About 2 weeks later the thermostat did not raise the daytime temp. and seemed to quit operating. They sent a service man who replaced it (with a different brand) and showed us how to operate this one. Filters this size are hard to find, but they are ordering us a box of 12 at a very reasonable price. Both office staff and our salesman are accessible and ready to help. |

The service went really well. They did it very timely, very professional and the pricing was fair. I'll definitely use them again. He explained to me exactly what he was doing and didn't take advantage of me. There was a section of it that needed to be cleaned. They brought it up to me and it was optional.

Called the Customer Service line to see about an appointment. Once she heard that the furnace was not running at all, she made a quick double check of the schedule and fit me in the same day. In just a short couple of hours the technician, Jason, called and I met him over at the house. The inside temperature was already approaching 45 degrees. He quickly set to work and soon found that the furnace had blown a fuse. I was prepared for far more dire news! Yet after a quick switch the furnace would still not run.... The mystery continued and Jason carefully inspected wires and gizmos, fuse box and thermostat. AH! The accomplice to the mystery was found! My new programmable thermostat was missing a part. Another quick switch and there was heat. And life is good. Engineered Heating and Air were quick and kind, though and knowledgeable. I will certainly give them a call if ever the need.

My electric bills have increased dramatically and I was concerned there was something wrong with my heat pump, so I scheduled an inspection and tune-up. Engineered Heat & Air were able to come quickly (the morning after I called), and the technician arrived on time despite snow and freezing rain the night before. He was knowledgeable, thorough, respectful of my home, and took the time to help me better understand the operation of the heat pump. He found that the system was operating just as it should, but adjusted the timer on the defroster for the exterior unit from 30 to 60 minutes, which he said was still within the manufacturer's tolerances and might help a bit. He also suggested other things that might be causing my heat loss, including missing and fallen insulation he noticed in the crawl space. He left a list of components he checked and graded their operation (all "excellent" or "average"). Since I suspected there was something wrong he could have suggested unnecessary repairs, but did not. The price (I took advantage of a Deal they were running) was fair and there was no effort to upsell or talk me into anything else, which I really appreciate. I'm very satisfied with their work and would definitely use them again. And now...I'm off to find someone to upgrade my insulation. heh.

Had many problems with previous company and wanted to switch to someone more knowledgeable. They (Engineered Heating and Air) were very professional and knowledgeable and fixed all the issues we were having (which were many)!! I knew there were mistakes done by the previous company I used, but I had no idea how many mistakes the previous company was repeating over and over. I am very pleased with Engineered Heating and Air and will definitely continue to use them!

|Professional service. The quote underestimated the length of the job but the owner, when informed, promptly sent an additional worker to help assist. The workers cleaned the site every day and the staff was knowledgable about the work they performed. | |We received three different quotes for this job. One ( LEX PRO ) was over 15,000 dollars more than engineered heating and cooling. Plus their work included a ducting system of better quality materials ( all metal verses duckboard).

They were good. I used them one time and then they had to come out again. They were very professional and courteous. Shortly after they came out the first time one of the furnace igniters went out so they came out again and fixed it without an extra service charge. Jason was the service man who came out.

The company was slow to book the service call. The serviceman was punctual, appeared knowledgeable, and helpful. He changed a furnace filter that I had been unable to access, and he showed me how to open the filter compartment. All seemed good. After he left, however, there was no heat! This was after he went back to check "that the gas is turned on." I chose to call another company to come and look at the furnace for a diagnosis. Long story short, the gas had not been turned back on. I do not know if that was intentional or simply negligent, but I did not want Engineered Heating and Air to have the benefit of making another service call. Another puzzling follow-up to this was about 7 weeks after the initial service call, I received a bill from Engineered Heating and Air for the cost of the service call, which I had already paid in full through Angie's list. At the time of the service, the technician assured me that his office had a record of my payment, and he did not take my printed receipt. Whether this is poor accounting, or something worse, I will not be calling Engineered Heating and Air back again.

Angies List caused me to buy maintenance services from Engineered Heating & Air of Lexington, which saved me money by having a special rate. Everything went perfectly well from beginning to end. Engineered was very responsive, punctual , personable and professional. What more could I ask? In the years of having a Frankfort company, and I rechecked my files, I was never given a printed detailed list of tune-up procedures performed or not needed until David gave me one today. Service companies should provide each customer with such a list, but of course not all do. David even noted issues in writing to check later in order to watch for any changes or needed service. He also wrote down the manufacturer's parts numbers (model & serial) for future reference and return trips. Thank you Angies List and thank you Engineered Heating & Air.

Technician called 20 minutes before scheduled, and showed up on time. He quickly went to work to do the annual maintenance. While working on the furnace, he accidentally broke the light switch cover plate in the attic. He told me he had done it, and had replaced it with a new one. I'm sure I would have never known that it even happened or that he had replaced it. A lot of guys would have just continued on with the job and not said anything. I really appreciated his honesty in this case. I bought this annual maintenance service through Angie's list, as kind of a trial for this particular company. I'm glad I did. I plan to use them again for any HVAC maintenace or issues that I have.

The provider was on time, polite and articulate. We will use his services again.

I read the review dated, I believe, March 30, 2013 before I call Engineered Heating and Air. As I read the member's comments on "quality, price and service," I thought to myself that no company needed any other review than this one. Wow! I was not disappointed. Tom and crew are stellar. They strive to leave your home as clean as found. Their collective work is beyond reproach. They go beyond working hours to make sure all is well. And, pricing is fair! They professionally diagnosed the problem before pumping in coolant as another company proposed. This is the FIRST time in my life that I can truly say that I look forward to a repairman coming back to my home!!

I had noticed an unusual noise associated with the compressor and turned it off. As I was due for my semi-annual system checkup (I have a service contract), I called for service. David came and discovered that the module that controls the compressor fan was not operable. He did all the check-up of the air handler in the crawl space and also regulated the auxillary heating system so I could have heat. It was determined that the part would have to be obtained and it would be replaced when the part arrived. The wrong part was sent from the supplier and that delayed the repairing of the system until after the weekend. Jason called today and advised that he was in possession of the right part and would be over in about 1/2 hour. He arrived as promised and installed the new module. It was expensive, but was covered by the system warranty and I only paid for his labor to install it. Jason also checked out the outdoor unit as soon as it was operable and cleaned out some debris that had fallen into the unit. Service from this provider was exceptional as I have come to expect from their services before.

The company was responsive in scheduling a time that worked for me. The technician was polite and professional. My furnace had some cracked hoses and needed additional work requiring a second service visit. I felt the price was reasonable for the additional work that was done. I like that the technicians showed me the cracked hoses and problem areas on the furnace. They did a good job explaining the problem and required fix.

Everything was excellent. The tech called and let me know when he would be arriving. He was on time. The 15 year old apartments had not been maintained so I assumed the same with the pumps, etc. Tech and I went over the heat pump outside and the inside blower unit for each apartment. I purchased their year maintenance contract for all 4 apartments which was $446 for the year. The coil was bad in one unit and need to be ordered and installed ($1600-discounted since I had the annual service contract). I decided to have him install digital thermostats for each unit. ($600). 10/22/2013 they arrived to do my fall service. Prompt and professional. Another unit had a problem with the heater but tech and I decided it could wait for repair until next fall. I'm very happy with this contractor. I have referred them to others with good responses back.

Tech arrived as scheduled and was very pleasant to deal with, also very careful not to make a mess. Services included both the outside units and the inside air handler, plu the two programmable thermostats. At the end of the service he gave me a written report on each unit detailing the results of his inspection and the maintenance he had done, and answered my questions. As the units were only three years old they were, as expected, in good condition. I anticipate using this provider for any future HVAC services.

The service was fine. The work was good.

A lot of people in services industries don't realize how much weight your opinion of the entire company comes from the first person you speak with on the phone. Sloan was incredibly friendly and provided excellent customer service...I would recommend highly! She listened to my situation and realized that our no heat, 57 degree house with 2 small children was more urgent that some tune-ups for people who had heat and did what she could to fit us in right away:)

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it went very well; they did a good job. I used the Big Deal immediately. The fan motor on my heat pump was bad so they also replaced that. As I result I had additional charges of $250 over the deal amount. They came out to do my job the next day after I purchased the Big Deal. They might have been slightly early for our appointment and they even wore booties in my house.

iedThey were great--I needed to get someone out quickly due to one unit not working and upcoming travel. They accommodated our schedule and even fit the replacement work in around Labor Day weekend. All aspects of our interactions were great--the initial call, buying the coupon through Angie's List, workers on the job both days (repair and replacement), and the sales coordinator. We had already had three estimates one year ago and were familiar with products and prices. Their price and 0% interest-free financing (for 18 months) was competitive and the service was unbeatable! We are completely satisfied

Went great! Very professional and clean installation. Our air conditioning compressor had stopped working and Tom Robeson (an owner and Electrical Engineer) was able to come out the day after we called and gave us an estimate that evening. He arranged to have a new Trane system installed within 3 days and we were sure thankful! Trane had a $500 trade-in promotion, plus Tom gave us information to apply for KU and Columbia gas rebates, plus tax credits. We were very pleased and impressed with Engineered Heating and Air and highly recommend them.

I called 4 contractors to give me a quote on this project, a pretty straight forward AC unit/air handler replacement. Engineered was not only the most professional, but also the cheapest by over 1000$. They worked with me to schedule me prior to my wedding which was less than a week away, and completed all of the work to my satisfaction in 1 day. Thanks again for being so helpful and professional, and you have a customer for life.
