I've used them for a couple of years, but the never show up when they say they will. When they do show up it is often 8 to 12 hours later than scheduled. Several times they didn't call and didn't show up, and if asked about it they defer by saying they were servicing their "premium customers" that pay them a monthly fee. So if you are willing to pay maintenance (and it was expensive) then maybe they are a good company. But if you don't pay (like me) then you never get work done without 2 or 3 visits.

Description of Work: Came out on a Saturday to do an assessment on our heating and cooling system. The AC was not working and the system was making a strange noise. The Tech found the issue promptly and shared the three areas of failure which included a fan that had gone out. Parts had to be ordered but the Tech was back on Monday and promptly completed all repairs. Very good communication and great execution. Very pleased!

I smelled gas when my furnace would kick in so I called Columbia Gas and they sent two technicians out and after checking out my furnace they would have to shut the gas off to my house. I called several companys for estimates but the one I chose was "Comfort Heating and Air". Darren came out and was very professional and explained his products in a way this 60 year old could understand. I stressed the importance of having heat right away because my 84 year old mother lives with me and gets cold very easily. The next morning at 8:40 the two technicians arrrived and went to work immediately. They had to move my washer and dryer out because it was such a tight space to work in and they also vented it to the outside and still it was done right the first time. I didnt understand the thermostat because the one I had was 25 years old,even though they explained it to me I thought I was turning up the heat instead I turned the a/c on so I called Darren and told him it wasnt working and a tech showed up in less than 10 minutes and checked things out and showed me what I had done and he was very nice even though this was my mistake.This is a GREAT company and if you need a furnace or a/c please give them a call!!

On Monday October 31, 2011 I called Comfort Heating and Air around 11am to schedule a furnace assessment. They were able to come out that afternoon. They gave an arrival window of 3pm-7pm, but I told they I needed them to come closer to 4pm if possible. The receptionists were very accommodating and said they?d call me when the technician was in route. I got the call around 3:30pm and met the technician at my house about 20 minutes later. Since my furnace unit is in the crawlspace of my house, the technician recorded my unit?s manufacturer, model, and serial number for my records. The technician?s first step to fixing the problem was to run a diagnostic test on the furnace unit. He found that the flame sensor was sending a low voltage signal to the primary control board. This meant that either the flame sensor or the primary control board had failed. He suggested first replacing the flame sensor sense it was the cheaper part. By this time it was about 4:30pm and the parts store was closed so the technician scheduled to come by the next day after lunch. On Tuesday November 1, 2011 around 1:30pm I got a call from the Comfort Heating and Air that the technician was on his way to my house. When I arrived, the technician was already in the crawlspace replacing the part. After installation of the new flame sensor, the furnace unit still did not operate as expected. This narrowed the issue down to the furnace unit main control board. The technician went to the parts store to pick up a control board and returned within 20 minutes. Once the new main control board was installed the unit operated as expected. The technician explained that my furnace unit was an older model and that it had all original parts so to have this type of repair was to be expected. He also explained that with the system being an older model, there is a higher potential of future failure, especially since the inducer motor bearings were noisy, meaning the motor could fail at anytime. He advised that my furnace will need to be replaced at some point in the future, but hopefully later than sooner. He went on to explain that the parts purchased were warranted per the manufacturer?s specifications, and that the labor was guaranteed for a period of 30 days. He also suggested that if the part failed within a year or less, the company would work with me on the repairs since I had joined their maintenance program. By joining their maintenance program, I got a discount on all parts and services; saving me more than $150. All and all I had a pretty painless experience. The technician was extremely personable and professional; answering all of my questions thoroughly. I would recommend Comfort Heating and Air to anyone who needs the job done quickly and correctly!
Description of Work: Ran a diagnostic test on the furnace unit. The flame sensor was sending a 0.2V signal to the primary control board; a 2V – 4V signal is required for normal operation. Deduced that either the flame sensor or the primary control board had failed. Replaced the flame sensor, however, the furnace still wasn’t operational. Replaced the primary control board; the furnace operated as expected. Tested for adequate voltage signal from the flame sensor to the primary control board; the signal was adequate (4V). The primary control board had failed.

I was impressed with their thoroughness in terms of the estimate because some air conditioning companies do a very comprehensive calculation load for your home. Some would just come in, look at your unit and be gone in five minutes but they were one of the companies that did a more thorough job. Their person seemed very knowledgeable but I was a little turned off by him in terms of his professionalism. He talked about how he used to be a service person. He was a salesman but he was saying that sometimes people would call him for service calls late at night and he would go. He was putting down his previous customers. He said something that implied to his previous customers and even implied that he would charge them more if they were annoying. He said that he was joking when I confronted him with that. He should not be joking about something like that and that too when he was trying to get somebody's business. They provided me with a free estimate. I almost went with them because they seemed like a good mix of knowledgeable people and price value. I thought of using them but then he talked like that which was cheap looking. I found people that I liked better and felt good about. I would consider using them for an estimate in the future but would not prefer that particular salesman.

I called morning of 7/5 to make sure of my appointment and they said the tech should be there about noon as I was next on the list. He finally got there around 1pm and had a trainee with him. Took them over an hour an half to change the pump, clean the coils, and they also rerouted the small drain pipe from unit to the pump since they moved the pump higher. Every time they went to the truck for something they would stand an talk for a while. Finally he went to his truck to write the bill and still wasn't back 10 minutes later so I walked out there and they were talking in the truck, and he finally started writing bill then while I stood there. He had me sign for my credit card, but I did not a copy of a bill or a receipt for my card, he said it would be e-mailed from the main office in a few hours. He also told me the pump had a 1 year warranty with them, and a 5 year manufacture warranty which also turned out not to be true! Come 7/7/11 I still had not received a copy of bill or any warranty information in writing. The office said they would send it right away. Come 7/13/11 still no bill, turned out their system wasn't sending mail, so they sent it from a different system promptly and I was also told at this time the pump only had a 30 day warranty with them and 1 year with the manufacture. The office staff was nice, but not sure I would higher them again.
Description of Work: I was pretty sure it was the condensate pump leaking water, so I called on a Sat. 7/2/11 and actually got a person that helped me and set the appointment up for Tues. 7/5/11, so that was really nice! Turned out I was correct my pump stopped working and they replaced it with a little giant pump. It is just a small pump that sits on the floor that the air conditioner condensation goes into and it pumps it to the drain basically. The trip charge is $89, and I had a $25 Angie's list discount, and I was charged $230 for the pump, found out they retail at $84.00 even from little giant themselves, so the price is almost 3 times what the actual pump cost plus the service call charge or $89 on top of that. ****The tech ran my card at time of service, several months later I get a nasty letter saying I needed to pay my bill, never got any notifcation of anything wrong, not phone call, nothing. I called the office they told me everything was okay I showed 0 balance. Several months same thing again, turned out the tech didn't process my credit card correctly and I was never charged, but the system thought I was. I finally told the manager how bad my tech and service was, and the problems I had ecountered, and about the cost of the part and they helpped me out some on the bill due to the all problems. Would not use or reccomend them though, that was horrible to go through.

It went without a hitch. The guy was quick, on time, and solved the problem.
Description of Work: The duct was blocked so that condensation from our air conditioner was leaking onto the floor in our furnace room. We live in a second story condo so we turned off the air conditioner and notified Comfort Htg and Air. It was the weekend and the repair man was booked until 2 AM the next morning. We chose to wait until the next morning for the repair man to come at a preferred time of about 11 AM. He was here 10 minutes and had cleaned out the blockage. We signed up for biannual automatic checks of our HVAC which provides some peace of mind for our future.

They were certainly on time. The technician seemed professional. I did have the blower motor failed within a week or so and they did honor the warranty and came back and replaced it with no charge. The workers that came out were very good. I would recommend them to others. I would use them again in the future too.

My A/C unit did not work after turning it on for the first time this year. I called in the morning and they were able to to make the service call within 2 hours. The technician was very professional and completed the service to repair the unit. He also made several helpful suggestions for future service needs and proper filters to use in the unit.

They gave me an estimate to fix the compressor which I thought was a little bit high so I got a few more estimates and I went with another company. It turned out there were other things wrong with it and the price ended up being the same as Comfort. I didn't get a written estimate with Comfort so I don't know what it included, I just got a verbal estimate so it could have been more I just don't know. They pretty much did what I thought they ought to do, it was pretty standard, no complications.

This was a smaller, older home that had a cheap furnace and AC from the previous owner that finally went out. After soliciting several bids to replace the system, we chose Comfort Heating and Air for 2 reasons: they did an excellent job in diagnosing the problem and giving us options, plus we have owned Trane systems before and they are quite reliable. The pricing was reasonable, too. One note: after beginning the project (which was installing a unit horizontally in a crawlspace), we discovered the inside of the existing duct work had a lot of mold. The decision was made to replace the entire ducting under the home. This did cost us some additional $$ but was well worth it. Also, Tony and his crew were very accommodating even though it meant an additional day's work in masks and protective gear, in 90 degree weather! They also came up with a way to install filters in the floor vents so that we do not have to crawl under the home to change them. Finally, they disposed of all existing old material and cleaned up quite well. Lets face it, replacing an HVAC system is not something anyone wants to do, but overall the experience was very positive, the people were quite professional and courteous. Highly recommended.

I got an appointment within 24 hours of calling with a very pleasant receptionist who carefully explained their maintenance program. The policy is that they will call prior to the technician arriving, which they did, and he arrived within the appointment timeframe. He was thorough in his inspection of the heat pump and fan; and detected one problem which he promptly corrected. He also answered all of my questions and made some suggestions on changing of the filters. Am very impressed with their promptness in the appointment, and thoroughness of maintenance.
