The work crew was very good at performing their jobs as far as water extraction, removal of the carpeting and pad. As far as the placement of air movers and dehumidifiers my personal opinion is that too many were used to accomplish the required outcome (19 air movers and 7 dehumidifiers for a three day period). The final inspection by the crew leader was accomplished using a moisture reader supposedly throughout the basement area, however, an after departure detailed inspection by the undersigned only showed evidence of the moisture detection device being used in the bathroom area along one wall. This inspection was made while removing carpet tack strips throughout the area in preparation for new carpet installation. When the company submitted a bill to the insurance company, the adjuster stated that the bill was totally out of bounds. He indicated that a bill in an amount between $4500 and $5500 was more in line for the work performed. When I contacted the Servpro representative listed on the bill and voiced my concerns, he said he would review it and get back to me. Later that afternoon, he called indicated that he did not have the file in hand but would call back as soon as he did retrieve the file. Five calls to his office and eight days later he finally returned my calls and we discussed the bill. After some disagreement he said that he would send a letter to me with the company position. The letter was received on the 27th of June and indicated a discounted offer of $1718.40 less than the original bill (effectively removing the charges for overhead and profit indicated on the original bill). The last two sentences of the letter set an effective date for payment (morning of 3 July) and an implied threat that if the discounted bill was not paid the company would go after the full amount of the original bill ($10867.93).
