Description of Work: Our in house air conditioner quit cooling on a very hot day. Technician responded the same day we called, diagnosed the problem in a matter of minutes and had our system working in less than half an hour. Very reasonable fee.

Description of Work: Replaced a sensor. The technician was efficient and made the necessary repair. He also offered a bundled package that included a systems check in the spring that overall saved money. We felt secure that our HVAC system was operational and we were ready for Winter.

Description of Work: I called Rechtin Heating for a 2nd opinion because Schneller Heating's proposal for duct work was outrageous ($2.525). Mike was great & knowledgeable. He answered all my questions & suggested a simple fix to increase the cold air to the furnace for $560. I will definitely call them in the future for any furnace cleaning or repairs. Schneller, btw, charged me $450 for a duct evaluation which Rechtin did for $79.

Description of Work: They put in a new furnace and air conditioner in our previous home about 9 years. We had a service agreement with them and they did a few different repairs over the last 3 or 4 years. We were always happy with them.

Description of Work: Called at 7;00 am told there phone service my heat was not working properly and that the service techs get in at 8:00. At 7:20 someone from there company called and said he would come now but would charge me double time. Needless to say that upset me, I can wait 40 more minutes for a straight time rate. I called another company.

Description of Work: Gave estimate. Sales guy came over and I explained the uneven air flow to far end of house. He recommended a new system without doing much analysis. He was just looking to sell a system and get a commission. Other providers spent much more time identifying the true problem.

Description of Work: My air conditioner stopped working. I called and they sent someone out the next day to look at it. He said it needed Freeon, which he proceeded to put in. He said he could check the line for a leak, but given the little amount of Freeon that was put in, it was probably a small leak and not worth the extra cost. (I was pleased with this person. He had done maintenance on my h/ac units many times before and I trusted him.) When I came home from work that day the ac was again not working. The next day I called and was criticized for not having the line inspected. (The worker had put on his paper that I had refused). I cleared this up and they did send the same man out. He came out and told me he probably didn't thaw the line all the way before putting in the freeon, so he thawed the line and put more freeon in. This lasted 4 days before it went out. I had decided that rather than wait for the ac to stop functioning again, I would get estimates for a new unit. This I had begun before the ac went out. I had received one estimate and the man dropped off the written estimate when the ac was not working again. He put freeon in (at no cost) and this lasted two weeks before the ac stopped again. When Tom Rechtin's company came out to give me a bid on the same h/ac units that two other companies had given me bids on, they were almost $1,000 over the other prices for the very same units. I called and talked with Mr. Rechtin himself and asked for a reduction in the service call amount given the scenario I just related. He did not give me an answer, but some time later the salesman who had quoted me the price of the units called to say that if I went with their company for installation of the h/ac units, I would not be charged the service call amount. I certainly was willing to pay some of the service call amount; however, given that I have been a long time maintenance customer and that the freeon installation did not holdup as long as the free installation of freeon, I was hoping they would reduce the service fee a bit. This was not the case. I did pay the entire amount and also wrote a letter of protest, which was never acknowledged. I had always recommended this company in the past. Now, I will never recommend it!
