Johnson County Guttering and Roofing

Went fantastic. Crew was very prompt and completed work in a very timely manner. The Job was split into 2 days. The first day they arrived towards the end of the day and removed old rusted out steel guttering and painted wood fascia. 2nd day the arrived mid day after it had warmed up a bit and installed brand new aluminum gutters on entire house including new gutters in locations that should of had gutters to begin with. The crew did a fantastic job and were very pleasant and wonderful to work with. The 2 guys who performed my job were very knowledgeable and seemed to know exactly what they were doing. They were also very accommodating with my rain barrels and the diverter kits I had ordered for them that they installed as the gutters were going up for me as well.

We chose them because of the rating on Angie’s List. They were reliable, committed to the date, and did good quality work.

They removed appx 200ft of old guttering and replaced it with new seamless gutters and downspouts. They also replaced and painted appx. 4ft of damaged facia. All work was done in 1 day by very skilled installers. Excellent communication from estimate to completion. They were prompt, courteous, and professional in every phase, including clean-up. I am very satisfied, and would hire them again.

It took the crew 6-8 weeks to arrive. They apparently schedule them by areas. They were only here 20 minutes max and they used a leaf blower to blow all leaves out of gutters and into my yard. They didn't clean up these leaves mad left them next to the foundation of my house. I had just cleaned leaves out of the front half of my yard and had a few that were still in it but away from house. I called Kevin to complain about them leaving these and he said they don't always pick up the leaves, apparently they decide if your yard is clean or not. They also didn't clean an upper gutter behind my house. They would have needed a ladder to get to it and I never saw them with one. I was sitting right by patio door to see them miss it. Kevin said he'd send a crew out to pick up leaves, bit no one has ever showed up. I had to redo my own yard and get them away from foundation. I am paying my bill under protest due to them not completing the job thoroughly.

Let me state first that I am very happy with the job completed by JoCo Guttering. The materials are of high quality and the person who performed the job was efficient and competent. I would like to address some issues of customer service that I found less appealing, although I must say that initially JoCo made a much better impression on me than other guttering companies I requested quotes from (one did not bother to contact me at all). Once the job had been contracted and I had signed the paperwork, it became rather difficult for me to get hold of someone at the company's phone number. The timing of the gutter job, of which they were very well aware at the time of contract, as I took pains to point it out clearly, was very tight: I had to have the gutters installed between the end of the house painting job and a business trip: approximately ten days. I was assured that that was plenty of time. I then heard nothing from anyone at the company, despite a number of increasingly anxious emails and phone messages. When I did finally hear from Kevin, the company's owner, he assured me that the job would be finished before I left. The guy with my gutters showed up in the late afternoon of the day before I was due to leave on a 6:00 AM flight. He installed them nicely but also griped about the shape of my roof, the fact that I had not "consulted" with him before the paint job (they were completely unavailable to talk to and showed up to take the old gutters off when I was not at home, and on the first day of the painting job as well, so left it to the very last possible moment), and having to accommodate the rain barrels--which I had informed Kevin about from the beginning. He said he would "install" the rain barrels. He got them out of their boxes, placed them in location, and left all the hardware inside the barrels, so I had to complete the actual "installation" (not difficult but not what I needed to be doing at 8PM the night before leaving for a 3-week trip). The job got done literally hours before I was due to leave--but the bill definitely arrived promptly. However, I got NO reply when I sent an email saying I was unable to mail a check until I was in a secure location to download the invoice, and NO acknowledgement of receipt when I sent the check via Priority mail. I think the company is competent, but they need to work on their "social skills."

Worker professional, explained everything, only added the board replacement on (even I could see it was needed). Job done when specified.. The finished job looks good.

They were punctual; they did a good job putting it in, they cleaned up after they were done, and they basically took care of it in one day. I would recommend them.

Patrick was a pleasure to work with! I left town before they could start and they completed the job while I was away without any problems. He also had the patience to allow me to pay after a month since I wanted to see the finished product. In addition, they supplied gutter guards around all my gutters and their bid was one of the cheapest I had. Great price and great service. I would highly recommend this company!

My experience with Johnson County Guttering Co. went very well. They were great. They had a reasonable price. There were no problems with them. They were fast and easy to work with.

Johnson County Guttering did a great job of re-installing the gutters to have the proper slope and installed a bracket and wedge at each and every rafter tail. They custom cut the wedges and painted them to match to make for a very neat looking job. We had issues with water splashing back behind the gutter on one part of our house and they came back and installed flashing and did not charge us extra for labor. They had to completely re-do on part of the house and the gauge of metal they used was far thicker than what had been used by the other company. We didn't have to request it at that gauge as our previous gutter company told us was customary - that is just what they used. I only regret that we did not hire them in the beginning. They clearly take a lot of pride in their work and I have since recommended them to a friend.

Contacted Kevin who provided a bid in fall of 2011. He came out and provided a bid with several options including painting the fascia under the gutters. We completed all storm repairs in the fall except the gutters, we chose to put it off until spring. When we contacted him in the spring, he said he would honor the quote. I had to have the estimate redone for the insurance company to include taxes and he revised the bid quickly, I signed and returned around 5/16, and he emailed me that they were running about 1-2 weeks out. About three weeks later I received a call around 8am they they were at the warehouse and had me on the schedule. It caught me off guard but I work from home so it worked out ok. It was done in a day (and it was NOISY) and they cleaned up fairly well. I gave them a B on price because they were higher than other bids but they offered a better warranty and had a good Angie's List rating. The bid for painting the fascia was high too so we opted not to do it. I gave a B on Professionalism because I thought they should have given me a little more notice that they were starting work. Also, I used the Angie's List coupon which I guess is only for materials because I only received a $50 discount when I was expecting around $120 (5%).

They were fine and will use them again if I needed to.

A couple of days later Kevin sent me a guttering bid/proposal which I signed and returned. We scheduled an installation date and he called prior to that date to give me an approximate time the installers would arrive. Steve and Joe arrived on time and the removal of the old gutters and downspouts began. I was concerned about the condition of the fascia boards and was assured they were in good condition and did not need replacing. Steve and Joe began the installation of the new gutters and downspouts and addressed specific issures/problems I had about drainage over the front door and the back of the house where the upper roof meets the lower roof of my split-level home. Steve and Joe explained what they were doing and how it would provide the best and most effective drainage in those areas. They did a great job with cleanup and the new gutters/downspouts look fabulous. I feel confident the will perform as well as they look. The new gutters actually provide definition to the design of the house. Can't wait for the first rainfall!

I wanted my gutters replaced and some guidance on whether I should get 6" gutters or 5" gutters with larger downspouts. I called a couple of gutter companies and Kevin's bid and advice were the best for me. His crew called the day before coming and promptly showed up first thing in the morning. They removed the existing gutters, pained the facia, and replaced the gutters with new painted gutters with larger downspouts. The paint was a perfect match and they stayed past 8:00 PM to complete the job; this was good since we got a big rain event over the weekend so I had a chance to see how the new gutters performed. They worked great except for some splash guards that needed to be installed; I called Kevin and he sent a crew out to install the guards with no problems since. I highly recommend Kevin and his company if you need gutters replaced.

The replacement went very well. The installer (Joe) was very courteous and helpful. I paid to have the boards underneath the gutter painted and he realized that the paint that I left for him was the wrong color (the paint store gave me the wrong color of white, it was close, but, not the same). He went to Sherwin-Williams and purchased a new can of the right paint since I couldn't leave work that day. He even cleaned up some of the mess (leftover screws) that the roofers had left.

The work went well, the crew was courteous and responsive, and they did a great job on the gutters and covers.

Kevin (owner) showed me the paint samples and explained what type of guttering they would install. The installers arrived as scheduled. They were very courteous and explained to me exactly what they were going to do. They completed the work on that same day. They removed the old guttering and any residue on the ground. The new gutters look great!

He stayed with the estimate. His price was reasonable. He was very good. He was there when he said he would be. I was very happy with him. I would use him in the future.

The estimate was written very clearly and detailed -- I thought all options were covered. They called to schedule a day. It was misting when they arrived and I was concerned about painting the fascia board if the wood was damp. They were very nice and agreed to come back on a warm, sunshiny day so I would feel confident that the paint was applied correctly. They came back a few days later when the sun was shining. The crew were friendly, professional and left the yard very clean. (Just a few paint scrapings from the great job they did in prepping for the fascia painting) When they arrived, they suggested another downspout be added for a long stretch of the house, which formerly had just one downspout. It made sense, and I agreed to it...but I failed to ask how much the addition would cost -- so when the bill arrived, I was surprised that it was $173 more than the estimate. The original estimate was $940 for gutters and $104 for the painting -- I had $1000 in my mind to spend, with the extra gutter downspout, tax and extra endcaps they needed, the final cost was $1220. It's nicer when they come in right at, or even just under an estimate. I should know by now to always ask 'what will it cost' when anything is suggested -- but it would also be nice if the contractor would say "I would recommend another $100 item..." One downspout is about 4 inches shorter than I wish -- but that could also have been a miscommunication on my part. The gutters look great. It's raining today and all seems well.

I called to ask for a bid and we played phone tag for quite awhile, but Kevin kept calling back. Finally we connected and they came out to bid. I was disappointed that they preferred to come out on their schedule rather than plan to meet us out here and then the bid came in email which was okay but means I never met with anybody. The bid was $1059 for 6 inch gutters for a small ranch house which needs not much gutter at all. Except for the steel gutter bid this was the highest one I got. With just a standard three year warranty, I did not choose this company. Since I never got to meet anyone to ask questions or get clarification and since the bid was so high and didn't include any specifications on thickness of material or quality of attachment, it was too high in comparison to bids which included all of that information and were lower. But they were persistent and courteous and eager to bid. I am in Miami county and though they say on the Angie's listing that they don't do jobs here, they were willing to come out.

I was able to get a quote on a timely basis via email. I researched the wire mesh gutter cover they offered, and it looked similar to a low cost, highly rated cover in a recent issue of Consumer Reports. Through email I authorized the work to be done and was told they were scheduled two weeks out. A day before the two weeks, I received a call stating my work would be done the next day. When I came home from work, the person doing the work was about 80% done, but took time to explain everything he had done and his plans to finish. He seemed quite knowledgeable and courteous. My gutters were quite loaded with residue and all was cleaned and taken off site. There was no debris left in the yard. I am now waiting for it to rain, to see how well the gutters now work!

Everything was installed as was described in a timely fashion. Job well done.
