Called another firm for an estimate and they gave me a quote over the phone for an outside solution. An inside solution was not considered. (Their inside installation would cost about an additional 40% of the estimate). Called Jim and he came out, surveyed the house, and gave me a bid on an inside installation for less than the previous estimate. Jim installed when he said he would, cleaned up after installation, and followed up after the installation.

I didn't hire A1 Radon because they had the highest bid. Otherwise, I think they are an good company. They were prompt with their proposal and professional on the phone.

We received several quotes. A1 was a little higher than some quotes we received, but the thing that made us choose A1 was their advertised ability to take payment via PayPal credit with 6 months same-as-cash option. If you've ever sold a house, you know you need a lot of cash reserves. So being able to put off payment for a little bit eases some of the stress on our checkbook while we transition between houses. The installer was very professional, courteous, punctual, etc. No problems. Actually, he arrived early (called ahead), which sent me racing home from work. But I'd rather have that problem than to be sitting at home waiting for a late show. When he got there, he presented 3 installation options based on the configuration of our house. Drilling turned out to be our best option, as explained above. The original quote had warned us that if they had to drill a new hole it would cost an extra $50. So there were no surprises in the final cost. One small hiccup in the installation was that our sump pump pit, which had to be sealed for proper mitigation, was bigger than apparently is normal (he said the biggest piece they have pre-ordered is 24", our pit opening was 24 5/8"). So they had to custom order a piece of material big enough (looks like clear plastic to me, but he had some fancy name for it. They had the piece ordered and installed at my house within 48 hours of the original appointment. The followed up with levels testing for a 72-hour period (24 hours to allow the system to work, then 48 hours of measurements). Our average level dropped from 5.5 to 1.3, so it's working. One little silly thing about testing -- he put the equipment on top of our chest freezer. Fortunately we had enough food for the weekend in our kitchen freezer ;-) All around, a fine experience and I would recommend working with this company.

My levels were a bit high and and because of various issues we struggled to bring them down, but A1 was wonderful to work with. They hung in there until they got the job done.

The technician setup the testing equipment and 2 days later returned to give me the results and retrieve their equipment. They were very good about explaining the results of the test. I'm very satisfied and will use this company in the future.

I got a call from him late yesterday afternoon, he did indeed remember speaking to me. I guess after we spoke the first time, he "forgot" to put me on his schedule! He's supposed to come out today!

They arrived on time & setup the test equipment. They returned in a week to pickup the equipment. She said it was 2 points over normal and they would send me an email of the results. I never got the email and now months later, I've changed email address to rldunham1@gmail.com if you could obtain my results I would be happy, but for now it was a wasted $85.

The technician was punctual and very pleasant. She explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. I didn't need to have anything done as my radon level tested very low, and my mitigation system is working well. I was impressed with the honesty and professionalism exhibited by A-1 Radon. They did a great job and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I will call them again for routine testing and when I need to replace my mitigation system. I will also highly recommend them to friends and neighbors who need mitigation.

James came to our rescue! There were torrential down pours in KC today and of course, as luck would have it, our basement was flooding at the connection site of the radon mitigation system and the sump pump. We called James to ask if he could come check it out since we weren't really sure if it was related to the radon installation or not. It was also all sealed up and was hard to see through the Plexiglas what the problem was. He made time in his evening schedule to come out to our house around 8pm to unseal the area, check out the issue, fix the problem and then seal it all back up and make sure the seals were good and the radon and the sump were running effectively and the radon fan had the right amount of pressure. It was super nice of him to come out on short notice and take care of the sump pump problem for us. It was a simple tightening of the sump pump piping brackets luckily. James did a great job in taking care of us and I would highly recommend his service!

He was very thorough with answering all of my questions which I greatly appreciated. He was recommended by a friend that used him as well and it was a good recommendation! He was very professional with a written proposal of two different options and everything was clear upfront with the cost. No surprises which was great!
