 + -1 moreJob 1: Matt(tech #194) was very polite and did a complete job servicing the AC unit. Job 2: It was less than 30 minutes from the time I called their office until the service rep (Tony) arrived at my front door! The A/C unit failed during the night and the problem wasn't discovered until after 7:00 A.M. They had the AC unit up and running before 9:00 A.M. You could not ask for better service from a company. I can understand why they are ranked as one of your top Heating & A/C service companies.
Description of Work: Job 1: Annual servicing of the AC unit.($69.95.) Job 2: Replaced a failed hard start capacitor on the A/C compressor.($136.59).

Description of Work: The company removed my existing furnace and A/C and replaced it with a dual fuel system (heat pump and gas furnace). Their price was competitive and they offered me good products for the money.

Description of Work: They disconnected, removed, & hauled away the existing furnace. They installed a 2-stage, variable speed, 80% furnace, and connected to an existing supply & return. They updated gas lines to meet code. They installed a new flue liner & removed the outdated one. They checked & sealed any exposed duct work. They started & checked the equipment for proper operation.

 + -1 moreGreat! First experience with Control Tech, based on other AL reports, and we're happy to find a company whose rates are reasonable and provides good service. Just as good as the household names, for about 15% less money, so we also purchased a spring/fall service program for our heatpump.

 + -1 moreI have waited until the beginning of June after several humid weeks to size up the results of the work. No more humidity problem!!The house is cool and fresh. I am very satisfied with their work. I am really glad I used Angie's list to find a new, quality provider. Otherwise I would still be stuck in a bad situation. Control Tech was outstanding.
Description of Work: We had an ongoing problem with summertime 60-70% humidity in our 1960's house despite a highly rated heating and cooling company proclaiming that the problem was fixed through several high-priced visits over two summers. Our experience with Control Tech was completely different. Careful assessment of the problem from the attic to the crawl space. Treated with friendly courtesy and respect by the sales person, office staff and installers. Removed old air conditioning elements from crawl space, correctly sized new air conditioner to our house, removed old humidifier, installed air returns throughout the house to improve air flow, arranged for duct cleaning, correctly added new air conditioning element to existing furnace and accomplished all of this in cold weather of February. Accidentally, the pilot light went out in our fireplace during the work. The installer came back the next day and restarted it for no extra charge. The house was clean as a whistle when they were done each day.

 + -1 moreLast April, 2005, I sent in a positive report on Control Tech. Only later, much to our dismay, we found the repairman was in the dark about servicing our system. We found the temperature falling precipitously in winter, not holding, then running on & on. We called an American Standard Technician & found it had been wired & changed incorrectly, causing the above problems. The thermostat was set incorrectly. We have a heat pump & gas furnace which he obviously did not understand how to service.

They were willing to work with my spring break schedule as I am a teacher. They are also very careful in the home. They cover their shoes and are careful of doors and walls. All around, this is a really solid, professional company.

 + -1 moreOne of the technicians came out to give me a quote to replace the insulation around my duct work in my garage. His quote was the lowest of the 3. The reason I didn't hire this company was because he was more interested in bad mouthing the people that do work with the warranty company and trying to sell other services. When he arrived, he didn't even know why he was there. He was trying to sell me a new furnace.

 + -1 moreWhen I called them to politely complain, they were very defensive. When I spoke with Allan Winters, the owner, I told him they should pay to have the piano tuned. He refused. He offered to send some one out to "check," which he never did at all. Most importantly, since the humidifier was installed incorrectly, my entire basement flooded. When I called their emergency line, they told me no one could come out until Monday, so my house sat full of water. The serviceman who came out (not the installer) admitted that the humidifier was incorrectly installed. They never offered me anything, and then had the audacity to send me a reminder that I was due for service. We settled with the insurance agency for a very low reimbursement.
Description of Work: Installed a humidifier incorrectly. They left a mess. They did not turn my a/c back on, nor did they ever turn the humidifier on. I got the humidifier in order to keep the piano in tune, and so I had to pay for it to be tuned again.
