 + -1 moreTech 195 (McMasters) came out to do the work. He was very professional, did a nice job, cleaned up after himself and even vacuumed afterwards. He also brought his own shoe covers with him which he wore. We have a high efficiency furnace & electronic filter and he was very knowledgeable about every item of it. He showed me how to set my humidifier on the furnace and I liked him so much I even sent him home with my homemade popcorn balls. I felt like I got what I paid for and I would use him again.
Description of Work: The work was performed on 12/6/07. I requested a contracted scheduled maintenance agreement to service my furnace, gas & air conditioner.

 + -1 moreDan was quiet, respectful and very efficient. Found the problem quickly, fixed it and didn't charge a fortune for the parts & labor. My husband are very pleased with this company. They aren't high pressure sales for bigger ticket items which we had found with another company we had used for years. The furnace check in the fall purchasing the maintenance agreement was just as efficient and respectful. We will be using this company from now on. Very impressed!
Description of Work: Our Furnace quit on one of the coldest days. Called-they said if someone doesn't call within 30 minutes, call back. Dan called-on other side of city, be here 1- 1 1/2 hours. He arrived earlier than that, very nice, went to furnace, diagnosed bad igniter, fixed within 1 hour and didn't try to get us to buy a new furnace, air cleaner, etc that other companies do. We had signed up for their maintenance program last year when another very nice young man, cleaned our furnace and changed the filter and said we were fine.

 + -1 moreJob 1: Delightful; I was very pleased w/their overall workmanship. Job 2: Cont'd from above. I decided to go w/Control Tech for purchase of the gas vent & it was installed yesterday. Excellent job. All "A's" ($900.) I feel very comfortable that I've received the best in furnace maintenance cleaning, service & installation. I was really shocked when Control Tech applied a 15% discount to this recent purchase/install (& did that also for the 1st "furnace start/diagnostic visit" several wks ago) which reduced the overall price by over $100 -- a real savings which I hadn't even anticipated & definitely wouldn't have been given from the original installer of this furnace & gas vent system that is so "unique", no replacement parts could be found in state & only 1 part was found by them out of state! (I did get an estimate from the original contractor). So yes, I was very pleased & plan to have some more work done by Control Tech to shore up several other weakened areas within the furnace.
Description of Work: Job 1: Removal of 18 yr old A/C & all connecting pipes; installation of new foundation for copper tubing connecting w/new 2 yr old control furnace system & installation of new 3 1/2 ton central a/c, started & checked equipment to ensure running. Includes a 1 yr service maint.on both furnace & A/C in spring 08. ($4009.) Job 2: My furnace went out. Since, the heating maint. Rep. had done such an excellent job in Nov. (I had purchased an a/c from this co in Aug. & 2 maint. visits were a part of purchase plan), in cleaning & servicing the furnace (very patient & thorough in cleaning & servicing the unit--I was pretty amazed), I called them1st. After spending an hr & more getting the furnace started once more, they told me the needed replacement part in the (I'll call it) jury rigged gas vent system would cost btw $700-$800 & had to be ordered from out of state. I passed; but when the furnace went out days later, I called the original installer (another $88) only to be told the same thing.

I had an issue where our furnace had quit working over the weekend and the tech called me back and walked me through a couple of things to try and it got my furnace back and working! He didn't charge and it was about 10 minutes on the phone. I thought that was cool of him. I don't remember the price of our contract, but it's very affordable.
Description of Work: They installed our furnace and air conditioner in '03. They helped us out of a pickle that we'd gotten into with another company, it was a huge mess. We now have our service contract with them.

 + -1 moreThey were very tidy, clean, polite and charged what they said they would. They came when they said they would and wore booties in the house. I signed up for a service program which allows me to call them any day of the week and not be charged weekend/higher rates. The program cost $127 and $90 was for the work.

 + -1 moreGreat. We actually got a coupon through the mail to check our furnace. We've been in our house for over 5 years and when that thing fires on, I'm always scared. My wife also called to see what the cost would be to add a humidifier to our furnace. Both employees were very friendly and explained things in detail. They gave estimates for their work and seemed like they wanted to sell us the right product. I didn't feel like we were trying to be upsold or lied to.
Description of Work: They came out to check up on our furnace, along with a cleaning. They also came out separately in the morning to give us suggestions on why a few of our rooms were colder than others.

His rationale was solid and seemed based on lots of past experience. The service techs did a nice job on installation and answered all my questions. The cost was exactly as quoted. Absolutely no surprises.

 + -1 moreWe called Control Tech that evening and they promised to work us in the next morning. At 7:15 am their dispatcher called and Chris was at our home at 8:00 am! He called in some assistance from Gabe (their production manager) and by 9, they had diagnosed the problem and had a plan of attack to make the repairs. They promised to have someone back with the necessary parts by the afternoon, but only 10 minutes later, Gabe called to say that Chris and Tony were on their way to make the repairs. All of the work was done before noon! Our heat was back on by 1 pm. We couldn't be more pleased with the work these guys did, along with their professionalism and good manners-- although their interior clean-up left a lot to be desired. :-) But we will definitely use Control Tech again and are switching to them for our Heating/AC service going forward instead of our current company because their service contract prices are better! Thanks Control Tech!
Description of Work: The gas line to our house suddenly snapped and broke--primarily due to the settlement of the house and the movement of the home away from the gas meter. Of course, it happened on a cold evening shortly before bedtime (BRRRR). The gas company came out and immediately turned off the gas due to the leak and did what they could to make repairs on the exterior of the home--but the line needed to be repaired from the inside of the home. The technician recommended Control Tech to replace the broken line and reconnect it to the main meter on the exterior of the home. He had seen their work and was confident that they could do the job well. Even though they are just a mile from our home, we had never used them before but we were willing to act on the gas company's recommendation. I am purposely not naming any names because technically the gas company isn't supposed to make any recommendations.

Jane, a very reassuring soul at that hour of the morning, said they had an 8:00 appt. time available that day. Chris arrived a little after 8, diagnosed the problem, obtained the circuit board and replaced it. He was finished before 10:00am. Fabulous!!!!!

 + -1 moreThe technician arrived on time, and did all the things he was supposed to check how the furnace was working; also cleaned the electronic air cleaner filters (which I always forget to do in between services). I'm not sure the filters needed the more extensive cleaning that he recommended, but I did it anyway. Took him several phone calls with the office to figure out the charges and the maintenance contract cost.
Description of Work: This was a pre-season check of the furnace; I also purchased a maintenance contract (as I have done before) for $182, which includes the spring AC check (I have two air conditioners).

He did not try to oversell unneeded services. The furnace and air filter were competitive with other estimates. Additional services seemed a little expensive (duct cleaning, humidifier, and home filter system) but we weren't in the market for these. He listed them on the contract to give us options. After the estimate he sent us a thank-you card in the mail. I liked his presentation and the price was competitive, we chose a different company based on experience. Would have chosen Control Tech if other company was not able to install as quickly as they did.
