I use them all the time. I have a service contract with them. They are very quick to respond. They worked very hard to get the problem diagnosed and resolved. They went the extra mile and I am very satisfied with what they did. I will certainly continue to use them.
Description of Work: I used Control Tech Heating & Air Conditioning because I had a problem with the furnace and they fixed it. It was an electrical thing with the gas furnace.

The service people who come from Control Tech are always punctual, polite, describe thoroughly what the problem is and the cost to fix it. They also advised that due to age of furnace it may not last to much longer but did not try to sell me new furnace at that time. I appreciated that.
Description of Work: We have a service contract with Control Tech. They come 4 times a year to inspect the furnace. They repaired parts in two areas at this appointment.

Dave inspected the equipment and made sure things were in good shape. What I liked the most, though, was that he ran through the operation of the air cleaner and the humidifier and explained what I could do to make sure they worked at their best. He also noted the difference (or similarity) in pricing between his company and the Internet. His explanations were very helpful and patient.

IT WAS A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. SEE ABOVE
Description of Work: I have used Control Tech for years. I called to have the furnace checked for the winter. The furnace was running fine but I like to keep it well maintained and clean. The tech told me there was a part that wasn't working properly. It seemed it was ok, the tech said it probably wouldn't last much longer, so I told him to replace it. The tech talked me into a spring clean on the a/c unit. The bill was 277.21. This was on 1/12/11. The furnace started to make a rattle noise. At first it wasn't very loud so I let it go. The rattle got louder and louder, so I called Control Tech. They sent the same tech out. He started to tell me how much it was going to cost to pull the blower out. I told him no. The tech continued to bang around on the unit, push on several parts. He said he could not find the problem. I thought it would be no charge. They charged me another 75.65, and did nothing to fix the problem. This was on2/17/11. Control Tech has turned into a money hungry company, and very poor service. I WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN!!!

We value your comments and concerns ...to address your report I spoke with my service manager and the technician. When we were out for your furnace maintenance the technician noted that the Hot Surface Igniter ohms was above the normal manufacturer range (sooner than later it will not ignite the gas) this repair was given as an option. The member chose to make repair and also purchased a maintenance agreement at the same time. The furnace was not squeaking at this time nor was there any report of such. Several weeks later we received a call regarding a noise coming from the furnace, when the (same) technician arrived he noticed that the fan was in the ON position and there was a squeak coming from the furnace. The technician could push on the firewall of the furnace and the noise would stop. He proceeded to pull the blower and checked around the base of the heat exchanger and the blower itself. He could not find anything apparent but did check all screws. Put the blower back in and the noise reappeared. The technician spoke with the homeowner and said he could put the blower again and get into more depth and there would be additional cost. The homeowner said as long as the furnace was safe he did not want to put any more money in it. I understand your frustration…but we were never contacted to discuss this matter. We have an open door policy and most issues can be addressed easily and fairly. Alan

For this service PM, the technician arrived as agreed. He went straight to work and completed the service in a very reasonable amount of time. When the technician entered my home to access the thermostat, he wore shoe covers, announced himself and was respectful of my dog. I have used this company since the late '90's for my heating and cooling system needs. The process from the front office interaction through the completion of the technician's service has always been very professional. Scheduling is easy and done to accommodate my schedule; technicians are clean, uniformed and polite. Information is given and questions answered in terms easy to understand. I choose to use a schedule preventive maintenance agreement with this company. A reminder is sent at the proper time of year reminding you to schedule your service.
Description of Work: First of two scheduled maintenance (one spring, one fall) per agreement. Cost is for this service only.

We have an agreement with them in which they come out three times a year and check out furnace, so we have been using them for several years. We had never used them for anything big like this. We had three companies come out and give us estimates. They are extremely knowledgeable about all the systems that they carry. The guy that came out did the estimate part of it and gave us multiple options. He figured out exactly by our square footage what size equipment needed to be effective for our house. He was very on the ball. You could tell that he was very knowledgeable on all the different equipments. When they came out to put it in they were two different guys. What amazes me is every time they walk in my house they put little booty things on their feet. All of them were very professional. While they were putting it in the guy that had given us the estimate came out and was checking to see if they were here and asked if there was any problems or questions. After a week he came back out to check the whole system. I felt that I was lucky. I have recommended them to a couple of my friends and they have been given estimates.

He was courteous, on time, professional, not chit chatty, and explained satisfactorily what needed to be done.
Description of Work: They came out for the heating upkeep - they check the furnace, received a precision tune up, and replaced a water panel, air filter, and hot surface igniter. I received a service agreement $131.40 and that’s inclusive of the $354.

They were good and did a lot of work. Their customer service was good. They had to run some cable around the wall of the house and we didn?t like the way it looked. So they were able to come up with some gutter like product. Now everything looks fine. We had some issue come with the furnace couple of months after it was installed. The guy came by on his way home and took care of it without any charge.

We have a 1993 8,300 sq ft ranch style home that we have slowly been updating. The back bedrooms and bathrooms were very cold. Control Tech discovered small, narrow trunklines were installed when the house was built. They disconnected, removed, and hauled away old trunkline and excess flex ducts. Installed new 20 x 10 metal duct trunk line 60' with turn. Also installed new metal branch ducts to all bedrooms, bathrooms, and master bedroom walk-in closet. The hallways, foyer, and second bedroom ducts were reconnected to new trunkline. Then the thermostat was relocated to inside the master bedroom because that's where it gets chilly fast. What a difference this has made in our home. Last year they replaced two furnaces for us and our gas bill went down. Now the air is really flowing warmly and wehneed to have the thermostat cranked down because it gets so warm in the house. We've used them over 13 years now and will continue to do so.

There was a miscommunication at the beginning. They were good once we got the time set correctly. We just liked their estimate and what they were going to do. They were also recommended by somebody else on Angie's List. We were not there when they did the work. We had to trust them. The work was done neatly and there was no mess left behind. My husband was satisfied. Their price was comparable to the other estimate that we got. We have had to trust every person that we have used, and they have all done well.

The tech was very professional and explained in detail what neededf to be done. He also offered several options to help reduce cost. I was very pleased with their response and service work.
Description of Work: My daughter's furnace was not heating effectively and she has a young infant child. I called Control Tech, they sent a service tech right over and discovered that the gas valve was not set correctly and the glow bar was bad. We discussed pricing and options and I purchased a service plan that provided a discount on parts and labor for this call and 2 future service calls. The furnace has continued to work well since they fixed it.

We did not have a very good experience with them. They came out to clean and do maintenance. The service tech said he found another issue and said they would have to go on the hourly rate. He could not find the issue, but told me that it was a big deal and that if I turned my furnace back on that my house could blow up. He sent a salesman out to sell me a new furnace. I did not want to buy a new furnace on the spot. We had another company come out and was able to find and fix the issue for $40.00. We had used them for years before this, but now I have lost trust in their company.

Sorry to hear you were unhappy... I spoke with the service technician and he stated that he found one of two limits on the heat exchanger open, checked furnace over to find the right side was warmer than manufacturer specification and had a hot spot causing the limit to open while the other side was within specs. The concern was a safety issue. The recommendation was made to pull the heat exchanger and inspect for possible cause (this would be over and above our maintenance inspection that is why the member was quoted hourly charge) there was no rating plate on the furnace, our technician stated to the homeowner that if the heat exchanger was in need of replacement it would do no good because of the missing rating plate...due to these issues and the age of the furnace that is why he recommended a Comfort Consultant. We just wanted to give the member a couple of options. Our concern is for the member’s safety. Feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss further. Thank you for your comment. Alan

Great - very responsive. Took a little while to get scheduled but we weren't in a hurry. Tech showed up on time, protected all floors and walls; sales person showed up soon thereafter to make sure they were doing what we requested. Took about 1.5 days. System is quiet.
Description of Work: Replaced Heating and A/C with new high efficiency units. Rerouted our hot water heater exhaust.

Excellent. The part necessary to fix the issue was not immediately available so he "bandaged" it until the parts were available. The technician came out the same day to evaluate the problem and was back within a week with the correct parts to fix the issue. I truly appreciated the breakdown of the necessary and the recommended repairs so our family could decide accordingly. As always, the technician was extremely friendly, helpful and courteous.
Description of Work: Heater was not working so came out to assess the problem. Ordered parts to fix and installed.

As far as the cleaning, it went well. The problem arose when the tech told me I had a non-working damper which needed to be replaced at a cost of $502.00! My home is under a home warranty therefore, I had to call the warranty company first before any repairs were made. They sent out their tech who checked the damper and found absolutely no problem. I watched as he tested it 3 times!! Unfortunately they had to charge me $85 for the service call. I called Control Tech and asked them to credit my account for the $85. They refused saying the damper was bad as they stated. How absurd! The other company tested it three times and found no problems. I've tested it since and it's working fine. As far as I'm concerned, you pay for service and should receive it from a company. "Customer Service" starts when you have a problem and ask the company to stand behind their work and techs. This company receives an outright "F" in Customer Service!! Beware!!
Description of Work: The service tech came out to clean and check the heating system for winter. I signed up for a yearly check including 2 visits (Fall and Spring) for a total cost of $146.00

Upon the maintenance inspection the member stated to the service technician that there down stairs of the home was very cool this summer. (The home has an automatic zone damper system which has thermostats and automatic zone dampers that condition the home in sections vs. just conditioning the entire home from one thermostat) The service technician checked voltage going to the downstairs damper on a "non-call" for heat or cooling and found the damper receiving voltage (dampers are powered closed) he removed the damper from the duct work to find it open...the damper gear may either have a gear stripped or missing not allowing damper to close. The member said that he had a home warranty company and wondered if it would be covered the technician recommended he contact them first. The member stated that when they came out and pulled the damper it was working...this could be that by removing and reinstalling and removing again the damper was jiggled enough that it hit a gear and started working. The damper will fail again once it hits the same spot again. I understand why the member was upset...but the damper will hit the same spot again and they will experience cooler or warmer temperatures in this zone. My Service Manager explained everything to the member and offered the manufacturer name and contact number so they may inquire with them also, the member refused. Thank You Alan

They did a good job. I am happy with the install, which is what I think is the most important part. They had excellent follow up. They sent someone out to check out the furnace and the installation after it was complete. You can call them and they will give you advice, they have been really good to work with. They were not the cheapest but the service I got was well worth it.

We are extremely happy with them. I am overdue for them to come. They keep setting an appointment and I have to keep breaking it. We have a maintenance agreement with them for two checkups. They sell air filters at a discounted rate if you have an agreement with them to come twice a year. Our house wasn't very old and we had fought and fought with our heating and air conditioning units. We finally had a couple of different companies come out and give us estimates. They are very personable and friendly. They are very, very knowledgeable. We went to the place of business on a Saturday morning and met with the owner. We were there about 4 hours while he told us about all the different options because we didn't know about a heat pump. He gave us a complete rundown on all the different types. He came and did an evaluation and helped us decide. Then they installed it. We didn't feel high pressured or anything. We are the type that will get 15 estimates before we decide and we had gotten several when we met with the guys at Control Tech. They stood way out in our minds.
Description of Work: We use Control Tech Heating & Air Conditioning every spring and fall to do the checkup on our heating and air conditioning systems. They had installed our heat pump in January 2008.

Technicians arrived on time and did their job in a professional manner. i.e. they worked steadily all day, cleaned up after themselves and were courteous and arrived on time. The job was completed in less than a week.

My heat pump AC unit was running, but the blower on the furnance wasn't coming on. Chris came out within 30 minutes of taking my call on Saturday afternoon. The blower itself had been replaced last spring. He had to replace the main control board. He called back to his shop and they said they had one. He went to get it, came back and installed it promptly. With the purchase of the service maintenance agreement (included in the amount above) I did get a discount on the repair. I felt like the after hours rate was a little high, but all in all I had quite a positive experience. Chris was very curteous and professional.

Hi, I was really impressed with the prompt response I received when I called because our air conditioning was out. We had received a price from another service provider that seemed a little high. I wanted to get a competitive bid. Control Tech came out that afternoon and put the proposal together at our kitchen table. The price was less, and I could tell by the detail that everything was included. I was a little disappointed when I found out that it would be the following week before they would receive the coil (it was out of stock). We were tentatively scheduled for Tuesday of the following week; however, the coil must have arrived early because the installation crew showed up on Monday at mid-morning. I believe the installation must have been little bit more comlicated that originally estimated. The crew that was here worked through the day, and until about 9:00 before the work was completed. The price remained the same as quoted. We are very pleased with the installation, and with the operation of the A/C system in general. It was a great experience working with Control Tech.
Description of Work: Control Tech replaced the indoor evap coil and the air distribution plenum on the bottom side of the furnace enclosure.
