I had purchased a Big Deal $99 for Complete Professional Chimney Sweep -OR- Dryer Vent Cleaning & Safety Inspection. I had the Chimney Sweep done and everything went excellent and they did a really good job.

I got a written receipt that showed what they had done and what they checked out and that everything was fine.

I purchased a Big Deal coupon for The Cinder Box. The work went great. The guy was courteous and prompt. He cleaned up after himself.

I got a quote over the phone based on some pictures from inside the attic. They were able to schedule me in quickly (was the result of a home inspection, so time was of the essence. They performed the work and the new home buyers were pleased.

I was pleased. The work was done good and I liked his honesty. They didn't make any mess at all. I think the coupon was for them to come out, look, and to clean it, but it was already clean because it was a house we just purchased which really didn't need anything. For less than an hours work it seemed a little high, but if he had actually cleaned it I'm sure the price might have been okay.

Pretty short story. TJ came in, showed me the old damper's rusted parts, took them out, installed the new one, and then instructed me on opening and closing the damper. Left me a small ratchet tool to tighten the cable in case it loosened up too much in it's use. He was extremely polite and personable. Was very patient while showing me how to open/close the new damper. I never felt rushed.

The tech arrived on time. He thoroughly inspected the fireplace insert and the flue pipe. He also made repairs to the chimney cap. He was very professional. We would definitely use them again.

Serviceperson performed chimney cleaning on our woodburning fireplace. Did not dress like Burt in Mary Poppins like I had hoped ;) but did a great job.

Tech showed up promptly. Very thorough . Was very meticulous about cleaning up when he was done. When asked, provided information about a gas insert for the fireplace. I've never had a house with a chimney before so he explained somethings to me about the chimney and how to close the flue, etc. All in all a very positive experience and would definitely consider using them again.

An appointment was set and they were on time. After an inspection, it was determined that a new chimney cap was needed. They came back out later that week to install the new cap. Everything went smoothly.

They arrived on time and were very careful to not make a mess. They removed the log, patched the hole from the gas line and hauled a way the log set. The flue was in good shape so no other work was needed. Nice work!

Cinder box gentleman came out and cleaned out chimney, got on the roof and checked structures on the roof. Recommended future replacement of cap (it absolutely does need replaced, rust is present on cap), and left no mess. Emailed promptly back with estimate on cap. Would definitely call them back again.

With the holidays approaching, I decided to get my two fireplaces inspected and swept so we might use them in December. I called in mid-November and was able to get on The Cinder Box's schedule readily. That pleased me. The technician called a little before he was due to arrive to advise me he was running a little early and ask if he could come on then. that suited me fine. He was personable, courteous, careful, and clean as he inspected my upstairs fireplace. He then went onto the roof to look at the chimneys. At that point he went to my finished basement's fireplace and found it to be in good condition. He swept that one. Because the main floor furnace has "gaps where flue gases could leak into house" he recommended relining. I could grasp that just fine. But then he talked about a 3" liner to vent the water heater efficiently and he lost me. We also discussed gas logs inserts ($600 - $1200), and I wanted to consider what that entailed: a plumber to run a line and relining the flue (Estimated $750). I then decided to move forward and just have the relining, etc. done and use the fireplace as a wood-burning one. When I called to schedule that in mid-December, I did get a date. When I needed to call back the next day and change that date, I was told that what I was asking to be done isn't exactly what is needed after all. I got all confused again and put everything on hold. I do need to call another chimney company and see what it tells me about this main floor fireplace. I don't think The Cinder Box is being deceitful, I just need to grasp the language and the situation before I go into a sizeable expense. I would not hesitate to use The Cinder Box again or to recommend them. My experience with T.J.Reed, the technician, and with the office staff was a positive one.

I was able to schedule the service call for a Saturday approx 2 weeks from my call. The technician arrived on time. I had many questions about how to use the fireplace in my new home as I was unfamiliar with the gas starter. He showed me all the steps needed to get it going safely. We also talked about wood-burning fireplace installation options as my husband would rather have that. When he left I felt much more comfortable using my fireplace and lighting the gas start. He did examine the chimney from the bottom of the fireplace and as expected did not find it needed anything or cleaning. FYI: They do not do fireplace installs but instead recommend subcontractors.

I liked the telephone quote as to expected cost and time of arrival. I liked the honesty and integrity of the service personnel in not trying to perform unneeded services. Our home was left in clean and good condition. Chimney Sweep will be called again in the future and recommended to our friends and family. Great experience!

Timely and professional. While he was there I also had him look at a chimney damper that needed adjusted. He was happy to look at it and didn't charge for it as no repair was needed. I recommend them.
