Description of Work: They were very nice and worked an estimate into their schedule. They caught that my chimney was not up to code,which could have cost me more money if a previous contractor that visited had done the work. The estimate seemed high given the other estimates in hand.

Description of Work: Replaced a custom Heatilator chimney cap and stainless steel chase cover. They were very responsive with the estimate and installation. I received 3 estimates from other companies and they did have the best price for installing the same materials. Overall a very good experience and will use them again.

Description of Work: I wanted a quote on an insert in the fireplace but ended up with an inspection ...not exactly what I wanted but....

Description of Work: They showed up as scheduled and performed the entire job in one day. They parged the chimney installed a new damper, sealed and flashed the chimney top.

Description of Work: I had the Cinder Box inspect and clean my fireplace, as well as replace the chimney chase cap cover which was rusting. I felt very comfortable with both scheduling the appointments as well as the advice I received on-site. I would definitely use them again in the future.

Description of Work: We contacted the Cinder Box to do repairs on our chimney, which seemed to be the source of a leak appearing on our ceiling. After inspecting the chimney, they advised us that we should replace the cover and a few bricks, and have the bricks sealed. The work was done when they said it would be and for exactly what they estimated. Because the damaged bricks were chiseled out and replaced, I expected there to be a big mess on the ground around the chimney. Happily, nearly every piece was picked up and disposed of. I would definitely use the Cinder Box in the future.

Description of Work: Seemed more interested in selling me items. Flu liner, flu cap and fire bricks. Also informed me the flu was not built to code. This flu was built over 22 years ago with the house. Not impressed.

Description of Work: We were having a problem with our gas fireplace. It would ignite and stay on for a few minutes and then go out. The guys from Cinder Box diagnosed the problem as a faulty pilot assembly. They had the correct part with them and were able to make the repair. The fireplace works well now. The technicians arrived on time and were very polite. The cleaned up after they were done. We were happy with their service.

Description of Work: Our gas fire would spontaneously go out during the middle of a blazing fire, and would not reignite. We were concerned that there might be a leak in the gas line or that the ignition was faulty. We turned the gas off and called The Cinder Box. It was over the New Year's Eve Holiday, and it was not an emergency, so they scheduled it for the the 9th of January. When the service tech came out, he removed all the gas logs, checked all the lines, moved the pilot over a little, he checked everything and could not find any leaks. He checked the ignition and it started right up. The age of the fireplace did not suggest that there was an automatic temperature adjustment that would shut off the gas if the fire got too hot, he did not think that would explain the phenomenon I described of the fire going out. He called another service tech to verify his thoughts and perhaps get other thoughts of the potential problem. He did not find any problems with the gas ignition or lines in its' current condition, but did offer several suggestions to modernize or upgrade our fireplace fireplace if I was interested. He gave me his name and number if the problem occurred again, or if I decided to upgrade our fireplace.
