From start to finish Indiana Foundation Service exceeded my expectaion I first meet Eric, our saleman, at the Home Show. His direct answers of my questions gave me a good idea of what was involved and a good ballpark estimate , which ended up being high when all was said and done. He arrived early for our appointment and was knowledgeable and professional. The office staff was able to answer question about scheduling and let me know that I should plan for two days to be safe. They called the day before to let me know that the crew would be there by 9:30 they arrive at 8:30 and introduced themselves and began measuring and protecting my floors. They were professional from start to finish let me know how they were progressing and made sure I was aware and okay with the solutions to the problems that arose. They finished ,much earlier then I expected ,cleaned up and walked me through the job to make sure I knew what to expect and that they were a call away if I had any questions.
Description of Work: I had 9 wall anchors installed on the basement wall.

Over all the work was ok. This was a home i was remodeling and they did not take care to clean up after they were done. I cleaned before the work started and when they left they left dust all over everything including the floor. They did not pay attention to detail when it came to finishing the concrete they poured. it could have been done much nicer but looked like they were in a hurry or did not know how to work a trowel. If your are going to have them do any work for you make sure you talk to them about the clean up afterwards so you know what to expect. I would get it in writing base on my experience. But now for the most important issue. Is the basement dry. I have to say so far so good. my basement walls still leak in a few spots but it just drips down and into the water guard and out via the sealed sumps. The humidity is below 40% and the damp smell is gone. If all goes well this spring and summer I will finish the basement.
Description of Work: Waterproofed the basement by putting in a water guard system and sealed two open sump pits.

I had been warned by a neighbor who had her work done a few years ago by another company that there would be grand chaos and dust all over everything throughout the house. I was, then, prepared for the worst. I did a lot of preparation for the crew?s arrival, even bought plastic drop cloths beforehand to cover living room furniture, my computer, etc. I moved or had someone else move furnishings and books, wall d?cor and small pieces. Everything else was moved to the center of the rooms. The crew pulled up the carpet from around the walls and took it away. On the first day of the job, the young foreman and two others arrived promptly, brought lots of plastic sheeting with them, moved whatever was left in the basement, and covered everything that didn?t move with plastic. In cutting the trench, they discovered that the house's original electric wiring was laid under the concrete floor. Twice their jackhammer nicked a wire, shutting down the operation due to power outage. I had to quickly find someone to make a repair the first time. The second time, no repair was done. That?s another story. Other than that, things went as anticipated.
Description of Work: In April of 2008 a representative of the Indiana Foundation Service, Inc. came to my home – one of three companies from whom I sought estimates – and took good time to assess what I said I needed. He examined the walls, floors, and condition of my basement, sat down and wrote the estimate, making observations and offering ideas while doing so. He left with me professionally-done illustrated booklets which helped me understand what the procedure entailed. He also left with me the estimate along with a diagram of my basement. I subsequently engaged the company to waterproof my full basement and install a sump pump to ensure that I would not have to deal with water in my basement ever again. Half the basement was finished, carpeted, and furnished. The crew of three took 3 very full days to complete this major job, which surprised me because of its scope. They removed the cedar wall paneling from the outer walls of the finished room, dug a 4” trench around the entire perimeter of the basement, put in gravel, laid drainpipe, poured concrete over the trench, and installed a sump pump. They hauled away the paneling and examined the concrete block wall, advising me of its condition. They were experientially factual without being alarmists. They worked very effectively as a team and were considerate of my home and my personal concerns. They wasted no time. They kept me 100% informed as the work progressed during each day. They were good communicators.

Chose a different company to perform the work.
Description of Work: My son acquired a house that we knew needed some extensive foundation repair due to poor workmanship by a sewer company. Indiana Foundation Service provided one of the 3 estimates we received for the repair. I thought this company was extremely consumer friendly. Their representative even came dressed up which I was a little concerned about since he needed to go under the house, but he donned a coverall to do that. He had an example of the equipment they would use for repair and was able to leave me with several brochures for further study. The estimate for the repair was the highest one we received although later I was sent an offer of a 10% discount which would have made the work comparable to the company we chose. The representative wrote up a contract for the proposed work as well as a diagram. One nice thing about this company is that you do not need to pay until the job is done. After the representative went under the house, I could tell by his face that this was a bigger job than we had originally thought and that the original 5 piers suggested might not be enough to do the job completely right. My son eventually chose a different company who offered a different although comparable product to do the work. I was almost sad because Indiana Foundation Service had been so nice even to the point of not having anything bad to say about the company we chose to do the work.

We were told originally that the entire basement needed to be waterproofed. They wouldn't fix anything that they take apart. The salesman didn't tell me anything about what they would do. We ended up just replacing the old sump pump.

I accepted a salesman's bid to install a triple sump with battery back-up on May 3. It was pricey, but worth the peace of mind. The weather was dry at the time and he said if I could wait until June someone would call to schedule an appointment. The contract stated that the pump must be installed before I went out of town in the third week of June. I never had a call to schedule the install. One day in June there was phone message that they would be coming the next day to install! I called the company to say I would not be available that day and was treated very rudely by the older woman who took my call. She first had my name wrong, then insisted that I had written that day in my contract, then said if I wasn't willing to be there the next day she couldn't schedule me until the end of June. After checking my contract I called again and told her if they could not schedule me before my trip as stated in the contract I would make other arrangements, so the install was scheduled immediately. The installers were punctual, polite and did an excellent job cleaning up. They didn't have the contract and so initially were hooking up the pumps to the wrong discharge lines, but changed them when I told them it was wrong. Two days later (Monday) I came home to the high water alarm and the battery back-up discharging even though the power was still on. The primary and secondary pumps were both in failure! I called three numbers for the company and could not connect to a human. Then I called the original salesman's number. He said the company was not responding to phone calls due to flooding (at a company that specializes in basement flooding prevention!) and that he would forward my call. I waited all day for a response. Finally I took the sealed cover off and determined that the installation allowed the floats from the two pumps to jam each other so that neither could turn on. I re-oriented the pumps and got them working. I have had to fix this problem twice more since then. I don't feel any safer than before I paid $1600. The company has never returned my calls.
Description of Work: Replaced old sump hole and sump pump with Triple Safe sump system. The system has a main pump to my original outlet, an auxiliary pump to a no-freeze back-up discharge line and a battery back-up pump for power failures.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS REGARDING OUR COMPANY'S INVOLVEMENT WITH YOUR PROPERTY. WE APPRECIATE YOUR CONCERNS AND TAKE PRIDE IN MAINTAINING OUR RATINGS WITH ANGIE'S LIST AND ITS MEMBERS. IN REGARDS TO YOUR EXPERIENCE BACK IN JUNE, IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT THE COMPANY'S RESPONSE TO THE ISSUE WAS FRUSTRATING. DUE TO RECORD FLOODING IN THE AREA AND THE HIGH VOLUME OF CALLS DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE, SOME CALLS WERE DIVERTED TO THE ANSWERING SYSTEM. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE DISCOURTEOUS MANNER IN WHICH YOUR CALL WAS HANDLED WHEN SCHEDULING THE WORK TO BE COMPLETED. MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN WITH THE OFFICE STAFF TO ENSURE THIS TYPE OF OCCURRENCE WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. WE ARE AN HONEST AND REPUTABLE COMPANY THAT BELIEVES IN MAKING OUR CUSTOMERS HAPPY. THEREFORE, WE ARE WILLING TO OFFER SERVICE TO THE SYSTEM WITH NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER ALONG WITH A FREE ANNUAL CHECK UP ON THE PUMPS. WE HOPE TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER TO YOUR SATISFACTION.

They charged me $895 for each crack. They showed up on time and they did a good job and everything, but they were extremely high on price. I've been around this kind of stuff a lot of my life, with construction and this and that, and for what they did and how long it took them, they were just way overpriced. I bet they didn't have $100 in materials for both of them, if that. They did both of them in a day. The guy that did it, I confronted him about the price and he said, "Yeah, I know. There's really not that much to it." I had another small crack and he told me I could take care of it myself and where to get the materials. As far as being easy to work with and all that, they were OK. The only thing I can say, really, is that I thought they were way, way overpriced. Now, that may be the nature of the beast when you're talking foundation; it may all be that way. They really were good, but the price was pretty steep. It's fixed, it hasn't leaked and everything's good. I wouldn't use them again in the future because of the price, unless I checked around and their price was the norm.

Spent time above & beyond to help look over outside & basement & provide helpful information on what we can do to improve our leakage. Very helpful! The ONLY company that suggested improve drainage away from home (after my request). They offer downspout & sump discharge pipes to get water away. However, like the other major waterproofing companies, they would rather fix the symptoms (internal drain system around perimeter of basement walls) than the real problem (get the water away). Husband opted to install own drains away and replace sump pump & wait to see if still have water coming in before install a multi thousand $ proofing system.

We had used Indiana Foundation before and have been very pleased with their work, this was no exception. We had noticed some cracks in our walls and in a particular corner of the house and they suggested having it stabilized with the piers. Didn't need to be home at all during the work that took only two days to complete.
Description of Work: Installed 4 anchors under a sinking corner of our house. They had to excavate a small amount of dirt close to the house and install 4 anchors which went deep into the ground (they are touching bedrock) to stabilize a corner of our house.

Keith was very informative and courteous. He inspected the crawl and the foundation. He told us that the crawl had some mold and dampness because of insulation that had been sprayed on the walls four years ago, which also sealed up the vents so that no air could get in or out, thus causing moisture and buckling of our wood floors. He also noted the foundation was cracked. We did not have the work performed because we didn't think that we needed the sump pump and all of the other things that Keith was trying to sell us on.

Overall they did a good job. After telling us it would take up to 6-8 weeks to come out, we asked to be put on a wait list and were able to get work done within 2 weeks which was great because we wanted to complete other work in the basement. My only negative concern was the huge amount of dust they left. The foreman told us that was how they usually left their jobs because cleaning would take too long and add to the cost. The entire basement was coated in dust which took us some time to clean.
